I have shared the Bias Chart and link in dozens of posts and DMs, especially on LinkedIn. But this app needs work. First time I used it it worked great but immediately got stuck in landscape mode without any menus. It took over the phone and I could not swipe up and exit the app. I had to do something rare on any Apple OS. I had to power of and restart my phone. I have not attempted to relaunch it since. So have only used it once. I’ve beta tested software and realize updates are always necessary. Hoping the issue is resolved and I’ll gladly update this review. (I’m running iOS 18.6.2 on an iPhone 16 Pro Max) ### 3/5 — Good concept *2025-04-04, version 1.2* The chart concept is great, but it could do a better job showing why the scores are what they are. App is pointless with search being limited, there are too many sources to fit on the chart at any given time. More search flexibility would allow people to search all the sources they use to show where they all land on the chart. ### 2/5 — Per usual lies spread freely while truth is behind a paywall *2025-03-27* This is actually a great resource to compare news sites and share info with others but unfortunately they decided to limit the searches and direct you to their website. The chart on the website straight up doesn’t work on mobile. The app is so much better. They say they have a membership but you can’t even login on the app. So they purposely gimped their app and then broke their website and then still ask for money? I’m sorry as good as the information is it’s not worth it. ### 2/5 — Poor UX *2024-11-23* Poor user experience. The icons and images are so tiny they can’t be read even after you click on them. Pretty disappointing ### 2/5 — A waste of a download *2024-10-13, version 1.1* Search a couple times and then it does nothing. ### 3/5 — Upside down! *2024-05-11* The app is hard-coded to load upside-down (bottom on the right), and ignores device orientation. Why would a developer even take the time to do something like that? ### 2/5 — Disappointing *2024-05-04* Takes forever to load, unlike the site requires a login and a *nasty* binding arbitration clause that makes me question the integrity. I miss the old days of the chart. Oh well. ### 1/5 — Too slow *2023-09-10, version 1.0* First: For an “unbiased” site, their app FORCES you to open it in landscape mode. lol 😂 Oh, and it then gets stuck on “Loading” screen. I don’t know how to sign in. What’s the point of the app if it locks you out and takes you to the website that also locks you out. Five or so searches and the app turns into a "sorry try again" experience. ### 1/5 — Aggressively anti-user. *2024-10-09, version 1.1* Impossible to navigate. no instruction or guide, missing my many media outlets ### 1/5 — Reliability Rating Isn’t Based on Fact Checks *2024-06-09* If you’re looking for a Media Bias Chart that factors in how often a source passes or fails a Fact Checker then you need to look somewhere else. Ad Fontes Reliability rating has nothing to do with how factual the source is. CNN for instance is listed as a highly reliable source even though they have failed a lot of fact checks. WSJ is another source rated high that has failed a good amount of fact checks. Common Dreams which hasnt failed any fact checks is rated on the same level as Fox News which has failed a ton of fact checks. Matter of fact if you click to open Common Dreams sample scores, the articles they provide don’t lead you to a fact checker like Politifact, it leads you to the article itself. If you’re looking for a Media Bias Chart that uses number of passes or failed fact checkers to determine how factual a source is, go with Media Bias Fact Check. They show you exactly which articles that the source failed a fact checker. ### 1/5 — Punishes Progressives Media *2024-03-25* At first glance you would assume this app simply first goes by how factual the source is and put’s the source as high up the charts based on how factual the source is and then move it as far right or left as the source is. But that’s not true as a lot of Progressive sources that don’t fail fact checkers are ranked lower than other sources that fail a ton of them. Media Bias Fact Check is a good way to check the number of times a source has failed a fact checker in the past 5 years. The Lever, The American Prospect and Common Dreams haven’t failed near the number of fact checkers that sources like Fox News and CNN do yet Fox News and CNN are always ranked higher on Ad Fontes This is because Ad Fontes is funded to promote sources who are anti-union and anti-livable wage and who are against the rich paying their fair share of taxes. Note: I’ve had it out with Media Bias Fact Check too over their take of TYT because they rank TYT on the same level as Fox News even with Fox News failing far more fact checkers BUT to Media Bias Fact Check’s credit they do rank Common Dreams, The Lever and American Prospect high for their factual reporting ### 1/5 — Won’t load *2023-11-10* When I open the app all I get is a loading screen but nothing else happens. Have tried to uninstall and reinstall but that ended up netting the same result. ### 1/5 — Infinite Loading Screen *2023-10-31* I downloaded this app because it was difficult and inconvenient to use the browser version on my phone, but in this app, I was met with a never ending loading screen and a buffer animation that circled on for ages and ages. I gave a 1 star because I want the app to get fixed.
