Second, i own all of the ipad synths, im not joking. Third, i am not a fanboy of virsyn (this developer). I do like some of their work but am not under the impression they can do no wrong. Great work virsyn, this app represents a well earned 5 stars. Please consider implementing the preset tagging like in possiden synth. ### 4/5 — Audio unit *2016-10-29, version 1.1.4* Needs to be an audio unit, thank you! ### 5/5 — Great Synth *2016-10-20, version 1.1.3* I actually love all the Virsyn apps, without exception. The devs pay attention to detail and all the apps have a similar interface, making it really easy to switch from one to the other. After the previous update there was a little issue with the arpeggiator, which was fixed the next day! Yes, the next day. Bugs are so rare. I don't remember one besides that one. How many apps get fixed in one day? It's a secure feeling knowing the developers care so much. I have had apps that had serious bugs not fixed for months, even by very well respected companies. So here we have a bunch of spectacular music apps supported better than most others. Great synths, great company. What more can I say? One thing. The prices are amazing, considering the quality of the apps and the superb support. I can not imagine even slight disappointment with a Virsyn app. ### 5/5 — Gut gemacht! *2016-10-09, version 1.1.1* Gute sounds, klasse bedienung, prima arpeggios. ### 5/5 — Incredibly dumb! *2016-10-03, version 1.1.1* Update: Third time is a charm, as they say. Finally the IAA transport bar has been placed where, when concealed, it no longer covers any area that is needed while actually playing Addictive Pro. The developer is very responsive, even if it did take three tries at a sensible location for the IAA transport bar. Back to five stars though! I absolutely love Addictive Pro. I think it's their best app to date. It'll take me a while to get my head around everything Addictive Pro can do and to utilize all it has to offer, which is a lot! Especially the poly-rhythm arpeggiator! I love it! ------ Ok, I held off on my app review after their initial release where the developer placed the IAA transport bar on top of Wave B tab. I gave them their solution. To put it in the upper left corner and have a tab that expands and conceals it. What do they do? Place it on top of the keyboard range/size adjustment!!!! Yes, they do allow concealing it partially, but it still cover a significant part of it. I am dumb founded how ANYONE can be that DUMB! Does Audiobus own them or something? They do use the tab to expand and conceal Audiobus like I suggested they do for the IAA transport bar. While I love this synth, I'm deleting it and all their other apps I own and moving on. Simply incredible and very sad. ### 5/5 — Completely mental and brilliant *2016-10-02, version 1.1.0* This is the most well thought out and ipad friendly synth I have tried. Rich soundscapes and basslines come without to much effort. Def in my top 5 EVER! ### 5/5 — This sounds fricken great *2016-09-27, version 1.0* Stayed up way too late playing this synth and I gotta say I got some truly mesmerizing tone from its tight code. As stated the arpeggiator's four different simultaneous parts most definitely make for some awesome polyrhythms. Put this synth into audiobus with aufx:space then aufx:dub in the middl and man I am loving what I hear. There are a ton of great iOS synths around but this one really put a great inspiration in me. Thanks a million for creating it! ### 5/5 — Brilliant sounding synth, unique arp *2016-09-25, version 1.0* I've got most of this developers apps, they're always good and this one doesn't disappoint. Great sounding synth with nice UI and controls, with a unique arpeggiator that really pushes the boundaries in soundscaping and rhythm. Highly recommended. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Latest update crashes on launch *2022-11-13* I just installed the latest update v1.5.1 of Addictive Pro on my iPad Air, which has iOS 9.3.5, and now it crashes on launch. Was working fine before the update. Please fix. Keine Rückgabe möglich! ### 1/5 — Does not work, :(Rs wnd *2017-06-20, version 1.2.1* I got this app shortly after it came out.i have all their other synths and was so excited to get.im running ios8.4 but the app will not open past the brief page that displays then nothing. I contacted apple twice for refund and contacted the developer a couple times. After the initial contact they gave me a suggestion to try nut still no change. I really wanted it to work but now I'm ignored which puts me back. I have many apps over past 8 years without this problem. I don't know what to do and lost over $10 and not happy. Beware this app and poor service. ### 1/5 — Don't waste your time or money on anything less than iPad Air. *2016-10-10, version 1.1.1* I have iPad2... Only works as a mono machine on that. Some less complex sounds are okay with two notes, but still cannot play notes very fast. The sound in general is less pleasing than on the original Addictive Synth app. The X-Y pads are cool, but I still prefer the older app for programming my own sounds. Actually, this developer's last several offerings are all but unusable on older iOS formats. I'll not buy any more from VirSyn. If you fix this bug again, then I will give it five stars. I like the synths though. ### 3/5 — great app but please add Bluetooth support *2017-01-13, version 1.1.4* ... ### 4/5 — Audio unit sample rate problem *2021-12-01, version 1.5.0* When you use it as audio unit (tested with Cubase/KeyStage) then it will play in wrong tune. Issue: IpadPro with 48khz Audio, as standalone app Addictive is correcting from 44.1 kHz to 48 kHz, but inside AudioUnit it will use 44.1 and therefore the actual note is off / out of correct tune by almost a semi tone. Not useable together with other AudioUnits … or I do not find where to correct. Using an external Audio interface at 44.1 kHz all is fine … but standard now is 48kHz (also when using IPad alone). Sounds are amazing so would be great if that glitch could be fixed ### 4/5 — MysticMusician *2020-11-09, version 1.5.0* I have problems using this app in iMPC pro 2. It use to load up in the iMPC pro 2 before my locked and restored back to factory settings. What procedure can I use to fix that problem in order for me to use it in iMPC pro 2 ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Simple and Elegant *2025-01-27, version 1.6.0* I am a big fan of interface design. One of the things I often ask when testing is a simple feature at the front of the interface with the ability to go to the full interface for deep instrument programming. Addictive Pro uses additive synthesis. Its interface is simple and results driven. Sound quality is excellent and varied. For such a simple synthesizer you get substantial timbral changes when programming. There are a healthy amount of patches available, which make it easy to tweak for first timers and people not familiar with how additive works or how VirSyn addresses. It’s an excellent way to get into additive synthesis alone. I think cube and cube pro do a better job and are even more programmable with even more patches. However, if it’s something that you’re concerned about this is a simple and fun way to connect with additive synthesis. ### 5/5 — Amazing Synth *2018-12-23, version 1.4.3* Nothing short of one of the best synth on the app store! All Virsyn apps are up there with the best. Addictive Pro like the names implies is addictive. I tweak knobs and massage presets. This is the most amazing synth for me. It is so easy to morph and manipulate parameters to fit the vibe I am after. The dev absolutely nailed this. Now with AU support! But also noise without sync is in some cases overloaded. And the worst thing: All recordings are gone, man!
