## What is ADHD Matrix?

I made this for myself. I have ADHD, and one long to-do list just freezes me. I can't tell what's actually on fire and what can wait, so I end up doing nothing. So I built the thing I needed, and figured some of you might need it too.

Here's how it works. You write a task down before it leaves your head, then you put it in one of four buckets:

- Do Now
- Plan
- Handle Soon
- Later

Four buckets. Not twenty lists, not folders inside folders. Just four places for a thing to go.

What's in it:

- Quick capture, so writing a task down isn't its own little chore
- An Inbox for everything you haven't sorted yet
- Recurring tasks: Daily, Weekdays, Weekly, or Monthly. You can also type a tag like @daily when you capture
- A Completed list, so finished stuff goes somewhere instead of staring at you
- Siri and App Shortcuts, if you'd rather just say it out loud
- Home Screen widgets, so your matrix stays visible without opening anything
- Five color themes, contrast-checked so both light and dark stay readable
- Rename the four buckets to whatever your brain actually calls them
- Private iCloud sync, so your tasks show up on your iPhone and iPad

About your data: it lives on your device. You don't make an account, you don't sign in, and I don't run analytics or hand your stuff to anyone. The sync is your own iCloud, between your own Apple devices.

It's free. No subscription, no ads. iPhone and iPad, iOS 18 and up.

One honest note: this won't fix your brain, and I'd be lying if I said it would. It's just a small, quiet place to put your tasks that didn't make me feel worse to use. I built it by myself, around how my own brain actually works. That was the whole goal.

## Key features

- Fast task capture
- Eisenhower Matrix organization
- Inbox for unsorted tasks
- Completed task history
- Home Screen widgets
- Private iCloud sync
- Export/import backup files

### 5/5 — Awesome! Finally!!

*2026-06-29*

✨✨Thank you for this! Finding a simple, elegant matrix with a widget has been an impossible task. It’s the only reason I hesitated getting rid of Tick Tick. I’m so happy!!! Would only like it if matrix names could be renamed/customized to fit individual circumstances. The colors are visual enough, though, even if headings cannot be changed.

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for this, it genuinely made my day. Re-naming the Matrix's is brilliant, and it's exactly the kind of feedback I appreciate. I've added it to the list for an upcoming build. No promises on timing since I build this in my spare time, but it's noted and I'm glad the app's been helping. Keep an eye out for it in the 1.6 build. Thanks again! -Anthony

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.6 — 2026-07-07

Themes, custom bucket names, and cleaner widgets for 1.6. Thank you for all the wonderful 5-star reviews and feedback. The themes and custom names came directly from feedback and I appreciate you all taking the time to use, love, and give feedback on something I worked hard on.

- Five built-in themes: Calm Dark, Deep Ocean, Warm Ember, Forest Mist, and Low Stim. Contrast-checked, and your widgets match automatically.
- Rename the quadrants. If "Handle Soon" is just "Soon" in your head, make it say that.
- Widgets fit more on bigger phones without getting cramped, with cleaner due-date chips and recurrence badges.

### 1.5.1 — 2026-06-29

• Added Appearance: choose System, Light, or Dark in Settings.
• Home Screen widgets now follow the same appearance setting.
• Improved Light Mode contrast and readability across labels, controls, and quadrant colors.
• Fixed a crash that could happen when switching appearance.

### 1.5 — 2026-06-28

A few real things in 1.5:

- Recurring tasks. Set a task to repeat Daily, Weekdays, Weekly, or Monthly. You can also type a tag like @daily when you capture it.

- It runs on iOS 18 now, not just the newest version. That was the big one for a lot of people.

- The Matrix fits better. All four buckets now sit above the tab bar at once, and each one scrolls on its own instead of pushing the others around.

- The Add and Edit Task screen stopped jumping. The panel and the keyboard used to fight each other and shove things around when you tapped a field. They don't anymore.

- Capture is quicker and drops fewer tasks on the way in.

I work on this by myself, in the time I have, while dealing with chronic pain and depression. So it took a while, and I'm glad it's out. If something feels off or breaks, tell me and I'll fix it. That's the part I can actually control.

- Anthony

### 1.4 — 2026-05-14

ADHD Matrix 1.4 makes the app feel calmer and easier to trust: cleaner Matrix views, smoother Add and Edit flows, more polished widgets, better completed task history, private iCloud sync, and reliability work throughout.

### 1.2 — 2026-05-12

New in 1.2:

- New guided first launch for a real task, with no demo data or account setup.
- Better iPad and Apple silicon Mac layout, with a cleaner Matrix workspace on larger screens.
- Search improvements across Inbox, Matrix, and Completed, including clearer no-results recovery.
- Smoother Add/Edit Task panel with better keyboard handling and fixed action buttons.
- Refined due-date editing, reminder behavior, task completion feedback, and haptics.
- Stronger backup import validation and large-list reliability checks.
- Widget, Siri, Shortcuts, iCloud sync, backup, and local-storage paths remain Apple-native with no third-party backend.
