## What is Adrift?

See the minutes before they disappear.

Open a distracting app and a timer appears in the Dynamic Island — counting your current session, quietly, while you're still inside it. On iPhones without the island, the timer lives on your Lock Screen, and the full reminder ladder lands on every iPhone. Leave, and the session ends with a calm receipt: how long, how many times today, and the number that matters most — your longest stretch off the phone.

Adrift states facts, never verdicts. "You've been on Instagram for 15 minutes" — that's the entire intervention. No shame, no streaks to lose, no red numbers. The timer is the nudge, and it turns out that's enough.

You build the tracker yourself. Adrift never asks permission to watch you. Instead, a guided walkthrough helps you build both halves of the tracker in Apple's Shortcuts app — one half watching openings, one watching closings. The tracker is yours, built in the open, deletable any time. Adrift works with Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Reddit, X, Facebook, Threads, and Snapchat.

Gentle reminders, on your terms. A quiet banner at 5, 15, 30, 45, and 60 minutes — landing over the feed itself. Choose the Early Nudges, Steady Bells, or Long Watch ladder, or make your own. Pick the voice: the warm Adrift default, Calm (the plain fact, nothing more), Scripture (KJV/WEB/BSB verses on time and stillness), Quotes (a line worth keeping from writers long gone), Perspective ("About enough time to clean up your kitchen."), or Note to Self — your own words, back at you.

Adrift Pro — start with 7 days free, then keep everything with a small yearly subscription or a single one-time purchase: unlimited tracked apps, full history with the daylight metric, every reminder ladder plus custom timing, all the reminder voices, and everything we add next.

Private by design. No account. Your sessions never leave your phone. The only thing Adrift sends anywhere is a short list of anonymous counting events, disclosed word-for-word inside the app and at mhs5643.github.io/adrift-site/privacy.html.

Doomscrolling is drifting. The timer is what tells you you're adrift.

## Version history (last 2 releases)

### 1.0.1 — 2026-08-27

Setup, rebuilt. A guided walkthrough now talks you through both automations in one visit; a narrated video follows you into the Shortcuts app, step-by-step cards back it up, and Adrift verifies each half fired before calling it done. If something's off, it tells you which half and how to fix it in seconds.

Also in this update:
- Reminder voices: more Scripture and Quotes, smarter rotation — no more repeats at the same minute — and attributions now appear as notification subtitles.
- Pick one voice pack free, permanently, on the free plan.
- Sessions that end after midnight now open their receipts reliably, and your records survive power loss.
- On iPhones without the Dynamic Island, Adrift now speaks to where your timer actually lives — the Lock Screen and banners.
- Dozens of small fixes from the first weeks of real use.

### 1.0 — 2026-08-01
