The game is fun to play and worth your time. However, I gave it only three stars due to some minor nagging niggles: 1. When your life is down to only 1-star, the blinking alert is annoying loud. Just remove that blaring sound. 2. Movements via my Steel Stratus controller aren’t sharp depleting lives and frustrating progression. Apply these fixes and I’d easily bump the review up +2 stars. ### 3/5 — Good game *2022-05-28, version 1.1* Garbage controls for iOS ### 4/5 — Decent Game *2018-06-03, version 1.1* It’s a pretty good game with some interesting mechanics but be prepared to throw your phone across the room on some of the later levels. Static or not, they just don't seem to react as well as other games. They're just not good. The graphics are ok, considering everything in this game is about bits. The gameplay itself really isn't that spectacular. Usual 2D side-scrolling platformer. Honestly, I picked this up on sale, and I still feel like I got ripped off. Don't waste your time on money on this. ### 3/5 — Um, it's ok I guess? *2017-03-23, version 1.1* Super generic, cut and paste platforming. I really don't get the hype in the reviews. Physics and enemies are super generic. Most enemies walk slowwwwly back and forth. Collision is also super forgiving. One enemy floats in the air, shooting a yellow orb at you every 10 seconds or so. Timed traps give you ample time to flee to safety. Might be a good game for kids 7-10 or so. ### 5/5 — Noice *2016-12-23, version 1.1* It's a good game, and way better than other iOS platformers. The level design was the star here and though it was tough, it never felt unfair. I have revised my old three star review to five stars. After paying careful attention, I was finally able to pass a level that was becoming frustrating, and I'm very happy I did. Be warned though...there are tough parts to this game, and it can be demanding. Perseverance pays off in the end! If you like platform games with a fantastic story, then you will enjoy this game. It has way more depth than other games on iOS and I like the fact that you can return to the castle and purchase things and talk to people around the kingdom. Another plus is that every level feels and looks different and gets progressively harder. There are 36 levels and they all take around 7 minutes to beat, so it will take some time to finish this game. The graphics are stunning, the levels are well made, and the music is soothing. But, I do think the price could go down. Overall, it's a great game. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Garbage *2018-09-15, version 1.1* Not worth the $5 , people really tout the controls, but they aren't that great, the animation, story line and bleak magic and currency reward system add to a unintuitive punishing side scroller without a point or reward. Truly several attempts to love the game result in guilt for having paid $5 for the game. A chicken sandwich would still feel satisfying. ### 1/5 — Should Have Passed *2017-01-24, version 1.1* One more game and more money I should have saved. Too bad they didn't have a demo mode or way to try it for like 15 minutes like Google. Allowing easy refund if it's not to your liking. Some of the levels of this game just are not fun when im repeatedly trying over and over to get passed some difficult part. A lot of that in this game. If I didn't spend what I did on this mobile game I guess it wouldn't be so bad. But I spent $10 or $15 (buy a lot of apps and can't remember) on a game that is more frustrating than fun. Believe all the reviews, the game controls are truly useless. Unless you have small monkey hands, you will have major troubles managing the controls. Good job but could need some bug fixes Like if you do two midair punches while moving forward the second one cancels your vertical momentum and can allow for a infinite wall climb and you can do super rapid punches and sword swings by canceling them halfway through by landing on the ground or taping the “downgrade” button ### 5/5 — Best. Bags of well-designed levels that can be tackled in short bursts, each with hidden secrets, plus upgrades and boss battles. Throw in a great soundtrack, a silly but charming story and lovely, colourful graphics, and this is really hard to top. Using touchscreen controls can get tricky, as with any game requiring reactions and precision, but this has a lovely pacing and plenty of options to tweak things to your liking. Seriously ### 5/5 — Best ios game by far *2017-01-03, version 1.1* First off the controls are the gold standard for ios games. Many game developers could learn a lot from the implementation of virtual controls with virtual joystick and actual buttons that can be customized by size and screen location. No foolish swiping, tiny fixed buttons, absurd all-screen tapping or pointless automatic running. This game gives you full control of your game character. The levels are infinitely replayable and it's challenging enough to keep you coming back for more. I absolutely love Adventures of Pip and truly hope tictoc games is developing more of this genre and quality. If there's any ios game that compares to the overall fun, charm and challenge of Adventures of Pip, I have yet to find one.
