## What is Aero Companion?

AeroCompanion helps pilots make faster, safer runway and go/no-go decisions by turning live airport weather into practical crosswind, headwind, tailwind, flight-planning, and landing-log tools built for real aviation use.

Designed for student pilots, private pilots, instrument pilots, flight instructors, flying clubs, aircraft owners, and general aviation crews, AeroCompanion brings the details pilots check before every flight into one focused cockpit companion. Check airport weather, compare runway wind components, plan around NOTAMs, save aircraft profiles, practice crosswind decision-making, and keep a private record of crosswind landings from your iPhone or iPad.

CROSSWIND CALCULATOR AND RUNWAY WIND COMPONENTS
Quickly evaluate crosswind, headwind, and tailwind components for airport runways using current aviation weather. AeroCompanion helps you see which runway the wind favors, how strong the crosswind component is, and how that compares with the aircraft and personal minimums you use for training or real-world flight planning.

AIRPORT WEATHER FOR PILOTS
Review aviation weather in a pilot-friendly format, including home airport conditions and nearby airport weather when you are away from base. AeroCompanion is built around the information pilots use before taxi, takeoff, pattern work, cross-country planning, or a quick proficiency flight.

CROSSWIND LANDING PRACTICE
Turn crosswind results into meaningful training. Save a practiced landing directly from the Crosswind view with airport, runway, wind, aircraft, landing type, day/night, and remarks. Use the Crosswind Landing Logbook to track experience and document the wind conditions you are practicing.

PRIVATE LANDING LOGBOOK
Your landing records are private to your account. Track full-stop and touch-and-go landings, day and night practice, aircraft used, airport and runway details, and crosswind conditions. Export your landing history as a printable PDF, or use AeroCompanion Pro to export a ForeFlight-compatible CSV for logbook import.

FOREFLIGHT EXPORT FOR PRO PILOTS
AeroCompanion Pro creates a ForeFlight-compatible CSV from your crosswind landing logbook, with a guided import workflow for ForeFlight Web. Keep training notes, aircraft details, landing counts, and remarks moving with you as your aviation records become more complete.

FLIGHT PLANNING WORKFLOW
Save aircraft, choose the airplane you plan to fly, review airport and runway information, check NOTAM context, and keep your planning flow focused without bouncing between unrelated tools.

FOR STUDENT PILOTS
Build confidence with runway selection, crosswind limits, airport weather interpretation, and landing practice. AeroCompanion helps student pilots connect METARs, runways, and wind direction to real decisions they make with an instructor.

FOR FLIGHT INSTRUCTORS AND AIRCRAFT OWNERS
Support crosswind training, pattern work, landing proficiency, student decision-making, piston single proficiency, personal aircraft planning, weekend flights, and safer general aviation habits.

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 2.1.6 — 2026-05-27

AeroCompanion 2.1.6 adds a private Crosswind Landing Logbook, ForeFlight export, and refinements across the 2.1.2 to 2.1.6 release train.

NEW: Crosswind Landing Logbook
• Save a practiced landing from any Crosswind result with airport, runway, wind, and aircraft details pre-filled before you confirm.
• Your logbook stays private. Instructors with AeroCompanion Pro can only view landings for students they personally gifted Pro to.
• Review totals by landing type and day/night, then export the logbook as a printable PDF.

NEW: Export to ForeFlight
• Pro pilots can export crosswind landings as a ForeFlight-compatible CSV.
• Includes a guided import card for finishing the import in ForeFlight Web.
• Uses the iOS share sheet, with a desktop download fallback where available.

Home and planning improvements
• Home now shows weather for both your saved home airport and the closest airport when you’re away from home.
• The flight planner stays cleaner by showing the saved-aircraft picker only after you’ve saved an aircraft.
• Saved aircraft can now be edited from Profile.
• NOTAM review help text is clearer.

Crosswind improvements
• Departure airport now auto-fills from your saved default airport on cold load.
• Saved default airports more reliably override the home-nearest fallback.
• Improved departure-airport selection to avoid partially loaded map edge cases.
• Higher-contrast Crosswind results and landing-log controls on iOS.

Account improvements
• Pro and Instructor subscribers now get a single Manage Subscription button that opens Apple’s subscription management.
• Sign out now appears directly above Delete account so account actions are easier to understand.

Reliability and security
• Fixed iOS cold-load authentication timing issues with Sign in with Apple.
• Fixed a Capacitor cold-start timing issue that could miss a Flight Bag recall.
• Hardened Crosswind result rendering by escaping API-supplied content before display.

Thank you to the TestFlight pilots who reported the logbook contrast issue, saved-airport edge cases, and Flight Bag recall miss. Every report helped make this release better.

### 2.1.1 — 2026-05-25

This update includes several mobile UI refinements:
- Prevents the instructor sign-in status from overlapping the Aero Companion title on the home screen.
- Applies your saved default airport in Crosswind and Time Zone Departures.
- Improves spacing on the Account screen around purchase restoration and Pro details.
