## What is Aestheticam?

a camera app that takes the worst photos imaginable

most camera apps try to make you look better.
i didn't do that.
i made an app that takes a normal photo and turns it into something you can't show people without an explanation.
nobody asked for this garbage.
it's not a bug. it's the whole thing.

what it does:

→ 10 presets that lower the quality of your photo in specific ways

deep fry compresses it until it looks like a threat. glitch splits the colors apart and rearranges pixels. vhs adds tracking errors from a format that died in 2006. vaporwave puts pink grids on everything. nuclear meltdown is all of them at once and i'm sorry.

→ face detection that works against you

the app finds your face using legitimate technology, and then makes a choice you wouldn't. it adds laser eyes. or copies your face 6-12 times. or melts it downward. it's precise about this, which somehow makes it worse.

→ overlays

cursed emojis. random memes pulled from a folder i named myself. procedural word art with rainbow gradients. vaporwave grids. stars. things you didn't ask for, applied anyway.

→ chaos slider

subtle is fine. normal is reasonable. maximum is for people who say "just do whatever" and then immediately regret it. at maximum the app itself starts glitching. the ui breaks. your phone vibrates. there's music. it's committed to the bit.

→ shake to reroll

if you don't like the result, shake your phone. same photo, different disaster. the randomization is deep enough that you'll never get the same thing twice. accountability is hard.

## Key features

- 10 quality-lowering presets
- Face detection with distortion effects
- Random cursed emoji and meme overlays
- Chaos slider for extreme effects
- Shake to reroll for new results

### 5/5 — Worst. Camera. Ever.

*2018-01-27*

Five stars.

### 5/5 — bring the clip art back

*2017-10-10*

i am so sad i miss the clip art

### 4/5 — Please Change the Effects Back

*2017-06-29*

I love this app so much, it's hilarious and I always have a good time taking selfies with my buddies. However, ever since one of the later updates I haven't seen any of the terrible clip art that used to be used in the final photo. Now, the edited photo only has colored bars or cropped out faces. The random, clashy clip art (pot leaves, tumblr quotes, weird decals) was what made the app "V A P O R W A V E" and I really want that back. 🙌

### 5/5 — Horribly Perfect

*2017-05-18*

No lies. Worst. Camera. Ever. And I know how to take out the ads! Just go to this app in settings and turn cellular data off!

### 3/5 — Used to work great, no longer does

*2017-04-03*

Routinely crashes after photo is processed, used to not have this problem. Does live up to its name of being a bad camera app.

### 1/5 — I used to love, but nowadays...

*2017-02-18*

The pic spins indefinitely and I can't save it.
Oh, and the vibration is so annoying, too.

### 1/5 — Horrible garbage app

*2017-02-11*

Don't download this app has no real purpose. I thought it was going to break my phone when it wouldn't stop vibrating. Also hella annoying ads back to back.

### 5/5 — Hey you wads

*2017-01-04*

Just send the picture to yourself as a message you wads. Also, I can do w/o the ads but it doesn't bother me lol

### 1/5 — Ads

*2016-12-27*

ADS ADS ADS ADS! Did I mention the endless and Indian amount of ads this great app is riddled with? And it won't even let you save a photo to your device
Instead it just crashes to the home screen. And ads.

### 1/5 — Great app ruined by awful ads

*2016-12-19*

Fun app but full screen obnoxious ads that pop up repeatedly ruin it. Wish I could revert to an older version.

## Frequently asked questions about Aestheticam

### What is Aestheticam's main purpose?

Aestheticam is designed to intentionally degrade photos with unique filters and effects, creating results that are often humorous or artistically chaotic rather than conventionally flattering.

### What kind of filters does Aestheticam offer?

Aestheticam provides 10 presets that lower photo quality in specific ways, including 'deep fry' for extreme compression, 'glitch' for color splitting, 'VHS' for retro tracking errors, and 'vaporwave' for pink grids. There's also a 'nuclear meltdown' option combining all effects.

### How does Aestheticam handle face detection?

Instead of enhancing faces, Aestheticam's face detection actively distorts them. It can add laser eyes, duplicate faces multiple times, or melt them downwards with precise, often unsettling, results.

### Can I customize the effects in Aestheticam?

Yes, Aestheticam features a 'chaos slider' that ranges from subtle to maximum. At maximum, the app itself may glitch, the UI can break, and your phone might vibrate with accompanying music, fully committing to the chaotic experience.

### What happens if I don't like the photo result in Aestheticam?

If you dislike the initial result, you can simply shake your phone. This 'shake to reroll' feature applies the same photo but generates a completely different, unique disaster with deep randomization, ensuring you never get the same outcome twice.

### Is Aestheticam available on Android devices?

Based on the provided data, Aestheticam is currently only supported on iPhone devices. It is not listed as available for Android.

### How often is Aestheticam updated?

The latest version of Aestheticam is 2.1.2, which was last updated on February 9, 2026. This indicates a recent update, though the frequency of future updates is not specified.

### What is the user sentiment for Aestheticam?

Aestheticam has a rating of 3.3 stars from 18 ratings. This suggests a mixed reception, likely reflecting its niche appeal as an intentionally 'terrible' camera app.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.1.2 — 2026-02-09

made functionality worse

### 2.1.1 — 2026-02-08

a worse experience for you, dear user

### 2.1 — 2026-02-05

deeper, more profound regret

### 2.0 — 2026-02-05

→ profound regret
→ new presets: nuclear meltdown + total annihilation (they're not subtle)
→ faster processing (so you can move on sooner)
→ more overlays (additional memes + word art + other avoidable choices)
→ deeper deep fry (it didn't need to be deeper, but here we are)
→ better face detection (so the laser eyes land more accurately, which is not a sentence i'm proud of)

sorry.

### 1.1 — 2016-12-03

- Haptic support in iOS 10
- Bug fixes and stability improvements
