### 3/5 — Good App, Frustrating frequently used mechanics

*2026-07-25, version 2.6.4*

Good app that crashes/glitches occasionally, which can lead to lost work. I’d hesitate to mention this if it weren’t for some of the frustrating UI choices: swiping a card for a separate menu to duplicate a file when there’s a hamburger menu in the upper right hand corner of a card is silly. This is also a pain from a user experience because the gesture attempts often registers as moving across the screen. A secret, gesture-activated menu for common actions is wholly unnecessary with a perfectly good hamburger menu right there. The core of the app is great, that doesn’t really need addressing. Save often and be prepared to fight some questionable design choices that are less frustrating on Affinity Designer 2’s competitors.

### 3/5 — ALMOST PERFECT

*2026-06-15, version 2.6.4*

Designer 2 is my go to app for graphic art. It’s almost perfect, except for one glaring flaw that drives me up the wall — whenever I turn a layer visible or invisible with my Apple Pencil, the app automatically scrolls all the layers down and I have to scroll around to find the layer I’m working on. It’s such a waste of time that I had to knock off 2 whole stars of my rating! **Edit: This app hasn’t been updated in 8 months. A new app that unifies all 3 Affinity apps for iPad was promised, but has yet to be released. Very disappointing.

### 4/5 — Very well made

*2026-06-02, version 2.6.4*

All I ask is for a vector eraser brush for mobile

### 5/5 — Love it

*2026-05-13, version 2.6.4*

Never going back to use Adobe for Graphic Design.

### 5/5 — Vary easy

*2026-05-07, version 2.6.4*

I started using affinity a lot it only took me like a week to start to get used to it’s great for beginners just look up some tutorials and you’ll get right into it.

### 5/5 — The best thing I ever did

*2026-04-24, version 2.6.4*

The Affinity platform is the best digital anything I’ve used and can’t wait till I can figure out how to do more video with it

### 5/5 — Better than Adobe!

*2026-04-19, version 2.6.4*

Time to switch! No more subscription! I never thought I could replace Adobe until now. Download it now!

### 5/5 — Superb Application

*2026-04-10, version 2.6.4*

I started my career with other subscription based software. I’ve switched to the Affinity suite and never looked back. I use Designer 2 every day for commercial output.

### 5/5 — Have loved affinity designer from the start

*2026-04-09, version 2.6.4*

I’m always a little surprised at all the attention aff photo gets (worthy praise), but I’m often scouring the internet to find a AD task that is stumping me. 10 AP tutorials pop up. Be that as it may, I’ve leaned heavily on the desktop version(s) but I’m traveling and had to do some quick edits on schematic floor plans. I did them in no time on my iPad. I wasn’t even using my Apple Pencil. Flawless, easy. One of the simple joys of my life. Vectors are a geeks best friend. There, I said it. Create yourself some fun PNG callouts (with transparency) for your next video project. Drooling now…vector graphics should be required study for elementary school aged kids. Affinity Designer for everyone!!!

### 3/5 — A LOT OF FIXES ARE NEED

*2026-04-02, version 2.6.4*

There are a lot of issues with this app specifically with snapping features I have to constantly reselect multiple objects just so that the new object that I try to draw can actually snap to the other objects that are on I turned all the snapping features on globally and it’s still fails to snap it still fails to show guidelines. Not to mention you have the split feature that split a line and adds a node, but you don’t have a splice feature so you could actually split up an object the way that you want to split it up instead of always splitting it to the midpoint. so many issues with this app beyond that that I don’t even know why the hell I paid for it. They also needs to be away to use gesture only and not confuse mouse input with touch gesture. Because if I put gesture only for the touch, it ignores a physical mouse that’s plugged into the iPad. What the hell is that? Also, the program needs to recognize that the mouse is different than a pencil as soon as I hover over anything that requires a drop-down. It messes up. It doesn’t let you select the drop-down it just selects the overall button. You also have weird visual glitch were I move and object and the transform box moves but the visual still looks like the object hasn’t moved until you zoom in and out a few times then it refreshes the object location. Smfh. This software is NOT ready for prefssional workflow use.

### 5/5 — Great illustrator alternative

*2026-04-01, version 2.6.4*

Perfect for those that don’t want to spend the ridiculous adobe fees

### 5/5 — Love it

*2026-03-31, version 2.6.4*

Paired with the Magic Keyboard this is great. Not quite as intuitive as the MacOS version but hoping Affinity 3 will be closer.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — iPad Affinity version 3

*2026-07-02, version 2.6.4*

CANVA, Please hurry up and get this done please.

### 1/5 — Where’s the love

*2026-06-29, version 2.6.4*

Free after I paid for everything! Fine, great. But no update to the iPad version that I paid for have been supporting since affinity released and even since canva bought, but if this doesn’t change fast im going to where the food is fresh!

### 1/5 — iPad? Ha.

*2026-06-12, version 2.6.4*

Can't say how the app performs, 'cause it's never going to open.
Downloaded. Now the app is asking for a Canva password. Ok, did that, and got a page that states Affinity Designer is NOT available for iPads. Back to the download. The downloaded app won't accept my ID or password. So, unless you enjoy spending all day chasing software, don't even bother.

### 1/5 — Does not work as documented

*2026-05-23, version 2.6.4*

I can not even get the context menu (without which this app is largely useless) and have spent time searching for ways to get it up. Every way there supposedly is to get it up leads me to the dead-end of a non-existent menu item, or getting something to come on the screen that just doesn’t come on. HOW THIS PIECE OF JUNK GOT ANY DECENT RATINGS IS A MYSTERY TO ME. As for me, I’d give it zero stars if I could —- even negative stars.

### 1/5 — OMG! The worst ever

*2026-05-22, version 2.6.4*

I cannot begin to say how bad this piece of software. It closely resembles the contents of my dogs lower bowel. It is so glitchy it is now unusable. The interface is terrible with keyboards continually changing size for no reason at all. The list is endless of issues. Go spend your money on electrocution therapy…much more fun!

### 1/5 — Subscription sell out

*2026-05-02, version 2.6.4*

Give me my money back for having me owning the app then changing it to a subscription model :)

### 1/5 — A complex programme

*2026-04-18, version 2.6.4*

I find that the Affinity suite is totally different to the earlier Serif programmes. The Serif programmes I was easily able to navigate and use.
The Affinity programmes are extremely complex and for the “Professional” not home user.
One glaring problem for me is the undo button. Where is it. In Serif it was possible to undo the last 10 moves.
Here if you make a mistake you are stuffed and have to delete the project entirely or start a new one with a different name.
Clearly a different suite for a different set of users.

### 1/5 — Not good

*2026-04-08, version 2.6.4*

This app deleted all my paid brushes assets I built for 3 years and I look and everything is deleted as well as I can no longer use pixel persona in designer not publisher so at tjis point I have no need for this app I have no brushes or assets

### 1/5 — Cost

*2026-03-08, version 2.6.4*

I like the program but they are requesting a one-time fee but they don't tell you how much it costs. I don't want to let them charge me until I know how much it is.

### 1/5 — Increasingly broken and unstable. Cannot be trusted.

*2026-02-14, version 2.6.4*

I have lost documents and had files corrupted for no apparent reason. This used to be my go-to design app and now sadly I have to look for a replacement. Clearly things have not worked out since Canva? When an app literally loses hours and hours of your work, it is time to say goodbye.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Top tier

*2026-07-26, version 2.6.4*

This is the APP for Vector Graphics and Art.

### 5/5 — Best, most intuitive design app!

*2026-07-17, version 2.6.4*

I have used this on my iPad Pro for many years and while there is a learning curve, once you get it, this is a DREAM to use. It is easy and everything is clearly labeled when you hover over it. There is even a quick reference guide if you press the ? In the lower right-hand corner. Plus, the video tutorials are EXCELLENT. I originally chose this as a rage against the subscription machine just to see what else is out there, but I have found this to be superior in every way and have never looked back.

### 5/5 — Superb Program

*2026-07-16, version 2.6.4*

I use Affinity every day for almost every project. The ability to use vector and pixel tools within the same program is unmatched. I am eagerly awaiting the anticipated I pad update.

### 5/5 — Прикольно

*2026-07-12, version 2.6.4*

### 5/5 — ADOBE CAN SUCK IT

*2026-07-07, version 2.6.4*

Enough said

### 5/5 — As long as it’s still available as an app…

*2026-06-30, version 2.6.4*

I’ve migrated away from Adobe products recently, and, while Designer doesn’t have every single thing that Illustrator does, it has almost all of them, and generally, what it does have works better.

### 5/5 — Добавьте русский язык

*2026-06-27, version 2.6.4*

Приложение бомба но добавьте русский язык
И искусственный интеллект nano banano

### 5/5 — My creative lifeline

*2026-05-26, version 2.6.4*

I use Affinity Designer 2 on iPad almost every day for illustration, client work, product mockups, posters, cards, and all my “wait, I have an idea” moments. It’s powerful without feeling bloated, and it lets me work in a very natural, flexible way.

For a professional illustrator, it’s honestly one of the best creative tools on the iPad. Clean, precise, reliable — and no subscription nonsense. Bless.

### 5/5 — Great for on the go!

*2026-05-24, version 2.6.4*

Best free app for logo creation and do much more. Tools can be a little complicated but once you get comfortable.

### 5/5 — Please Don’t Ever Discontinue

*2026-05-15, version 2.6.4*

Affinity Designer and Photo are my design tools on the iPad and the Desktop. Please don’t discontinue them now that Canva bought you.
