## What is Ages Untold?

Ages Untold: Chronicles of Lives — 53,000 lives across 5,000 years.

From ancient Sumer to the Republic of China, explore more than 53,000 historical figures from China and around the world on one timeline. See who they were, what they did, and who lived at the same time.

HOW TO EXPLORE
• Timeline: dynasty color bands, year markers, and cards sized by fame so the most significant lives stand out.
• Era Slice: drag the year slider to see a whole era replace the screen.
• Civilizations side by side: switch between China, the world, or both to compare ancient China with Greece, Rome, Egypt, and more.
• Search: search names, courtesy names, temple names, posthumous names, and aliases.
• Browse: filter by period and field, then open the full list.
• Topics: founding emperors, last emperors, 100 people who shaped history, and more.
• Relationship walk: follow family, ruler–subject, teacher–student, and friendship links from one person to the next.
• Person pages: dates, state or dynasty, fields, a one-line summary, and hand-written highlights.
• Portrait gallery: the free portrait set is always free; nine additional art styles can be purchased once and viewed offline.

HISTORICAL EVENTS
200 turning-point events from China and the world. Each entry gives a one-line summary, causes, course, outcome, impact, people present, and sources. Events sit on the timeline and link back to the people involved.

PARTY GAMES
Undercover: deal cards from figures of the same era and side, and play on one phone with friends.

SCOPE
China from pre-Qin through the Republic; the world including ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome, Macedon, Carthage, Mesopotamia, the Maurya Empire, Byzantium, the Holy Roman Empire, the Kingdoms of England and France, the Mongol Empire, the Ottoman Empire, the Abbasid Caliphate, the Frankish Kingdom, the Mughal Empire, Silla, Goryeo, Joseon, the Edo Shogunate, and the Inca Empire. 20 periods and 13 fields.

DATA SOURCES
Names, dates, offices, and family relations come from Wikidata open data (CC0). Historical events are written by hand. Historical portraits come from Wikimedia Commons. Character illustrations are AI-generated impressions, not historical portraits. Data can be updated incrementally online.

A FEW HONEST NOTES
• The curve and density on the timeline reflect how much historical record survives, not population or importance.
• Illustrations are AI impressions, not historical portraits; the app and share images label them "AI illustration · not a historical portrait".
• Some birth and death years are unknown; the app uses estimated anchors and marks them clearly.
