### 5/5 — Brilliant!!

*2020-09-07*

I had the opportunity to use this app this weekend and loved it. I was able to check my dog in and watch the running order in real time, all from my phone or tablet. They even included the splits for the walk throughs so you knew when to walk without crowding the gate as well as the course map if needed. Brilliant idea!

### 5/5 — Game Changer!

*2020-09-05*

My club used the app for the first time and everyone loves it! No people crowded around the boards to check in and no crazy marks to designate changes.
*Please add notifications/alarms to let us know when a class ends. We would know to check if our class is starting to walk.

### 5/5 — A great new solution for a long-term need

*2020-08-31*

There has always been a problem with everyone gathering around the agility gate to get updated information about the running order while keeping their dog safely away from the others congregated there. Additionally, checkins, scratches, and moves were done with writing devices which left the gate sheet confusing and hard to read. Those changes also made communication about the resultant run order with the scribe error prone.

Further, doing what is necessary to host an agility trial during a pandemic that requires social distancing means that using gate sheets only causing many to break the rules of social distancing.

Agility Gate elegantly solves those problems. No longer do people need to crowd into an area around the gate sheets to determine the run order. All of the information one needs is available on the app. At a recent agility trial, no gate sheets were produced. A large monitor connected to a mobile displayed the run order so that all could get the information they needed whether or not they had a connected mobile device. Also, the scribe controlled the app so there was no communication loss between the gate person and the scribe. Everyone with a network connected device had the information they needed without having to crowd around the gate. I was sitting hundreds of feet away from the gate and could determine when I needed to go to the gate. This occurred with many people so they were at the gate when necessary making the trial run quicker.

This is an app that has been needed for decades and is now available and dependable.

### 5/5 — Excellent!

*2020-08-31*

This app is fantastic for helping trials run smoothly and preventing crowding at the gates. I never have to worry about missing a run! I really hope some of the national events use this. Best of all, the check-in color is purple!

### 5/5 — EASY EASY EASY to use & great tech support!

*2020-08-25*

We were looking for a way at our August trial to manage our competitors that were crated all over the outside of our facility due to an executive order in MI limiting indoor facilities to 10 people.

The agility gate app was the PERFECT solution. People were able to track in realtime what dogs were running and knew when to come to the bldg to line up. Super simple for the competitors!

Setting up and running the app was easy. It does take a person to run the app so we decided to use the person running the timer to run the app. We had multiple people use it with no problems. The outside gate person had immediate info and knew exactly when to send dogs and people in the bldg.

Don’t hesitate to contact Roger and give it a try!

### 5/5 — Phenomenal!

*2020-08-11*

The Agility Gate app was a huge benefit for our trial! Easy for exhibitors to download, even if they aren’t good with technology. Easy for the trial secretary to upload data. Easy to do all the things - check your dog in, see which dog is running, follow the action from your hotel room, home, or while you’re walking your dog before you run. Especially helpful to keep people from crowding each other during this pandemic time. Plus, it’s just kind of fun to do all this from your phone!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Freezes up

*2022-11-12, version 1.0.18*

This app stinks.

### 2/5 — I Phone 10 Issues

*2021-01-02*

I have an I phone 10 and I can only get the app to work if I uninstall it, restart my phone, and reinstall it. Once I get the app running it will work until I accidentally close it. I’ve probably removed and added it 50 times now. I do love how handy it is when it is working!

### 2/5 — Doesn’t work.

*2020-10-31, version 1.0.12*

It will work on my sons iPhone 6 but not my iPhone 8 for some reason.

### 3/5 — Needs work

*2023-02-04*

The most important thing to me when it comes to software is simplicity and reliability. I would give previous versions four stars for simplicity but 2 stars for reliability. It's frustrating when one comes to rely on this app but it does not function.

### 3/5 — When it works it’s amazing

*2022-11-12*

LOVE THIS APP…when it works. Used for a year and reliable and excellent when Inhad a signal. However, they lit coders don’t keep up orb iPhones. In th last 3 months I mostly get the logo, then a grey screen. I delete and re-download which rarely works. I turn off my phone and on, and then SOMETIMES it works, other times it won’t load the trial list as I stand next to a Samsung user that works on the same exact carrier and signal. Used to work 99% of the time with a little tinkering and downloading, but recently 25%. Fix the lack of iPhone support and I’ll revise my rating…the last 2 months are a disaster for this app being desired to use at trials (I’m a trial chair) as 50% or so of our exhibitors have iPhones.

### 3/5 — Can we get this in Europe?

*2022-11-03, version 1.0.18*

We were unable to download and use on an iPhone from Belgium. Any way to share this with our friends in Europe?

### 3/5 — Not a bad start, but room for improvement.

*2022-04-25*

My club tried Agility Gate for the first time this past weekend, and for this handler who likes to work out of their car, it was a great help. However, I see two significant areas for improvement. 1) find a way to include the volunteer schedule. Maybe show as a “class” to check in to? Or add it in like the maps? And 2) A notification feature would be fantastic. At an individual level, “your dog is 5, 10, or however many out” as well as trial-wide notifications to anyone who has entered the password for a trial such as “now building Standard L1. Walkthrough to follow”, “Results posted”, or “Lunch will be available at 12 noon”

### 4/5 — Bug when you open a different app

*2025-12-14*

When you have agility gate open on iPhones and go to a different app or screen it resets the run order on agility gate. You either need to change runs and go back or close app and restart it. Will this ever get fixed? It’s been an issue since summer. Otherwise, no complaints.

### 4/5 — Really nice app

*2023-11-05*

As a new agility competitor this is really helpful to keep us informed on progress toward our turn. What would be SUPER HELPFUL would be two enhancements: 1) estimated time to a competitor’s time (use std estimated run time+in/out time) so we would have a very rough approximation of when to warm up etc. Currently I have to manually add # of dogs to know if we are 1 or 2 hrs out. 2) Having results posted would be super also. PDF’s of scoring for each class like the printouts that are physically pinned up. Sometimes you don’t remember to go and take a picture of a score sheet.
Thanks!!

### 4/5 — Couldn’t use today cuz update

*2023-01-19, version 1.1.0*

If you’re going to update, especially a minor one, don’t prevent access until users update.
At a trial this weekend, went to use it and couldn’t—and there’s no Wi-Fi at the site so it wouldn’t update. In general a very helpful app but I was not a happy camper on Saturday!

### 5/5 — Best App for agility trials

*2026-03-24*

I love using this app when I am at two or occasionally three ring trials. It saves me running from ring to ring and figuring out when my dog needs to standby and when we can just wait and take a break. In addition, it contains the maps for the day so you can look at them in the morning before you even get to the trial. Love it! Wish every trial used it.

### 5/5 — Love this app!

*2024-06-26*

This app is soooo convenient at a trial. Gate sheets and course maps in the same place make life a little easier at a busy trial. My only complaint is that I wish more trials used this.

### 5/5 — SO HELPFUL!!

*2023-10-18*

For trials both big and small, this app makes staying organized and showing up to run at the right time a breeze. I am both a competitor and a trial photographer so features like maps, marking conflicts, and getting a pdf of the run order with dog and handler names are all incredibly helpful. I LOVE when trials use this app, such an awesome tool! (Thanks Roger!!)

### 5/5 — Wonderful app!

*2022-06-11*

This app is a gem!!! It makes dog competitions easier, as it’s easy to know when your turn is coming up! Plus, it helps to make the whole competition less stressful - instead of continuously pay attention to the dogs competing ahead of you to keep track of your turn, you simply check the app for progress! I would love for the developer to make this app available in different countries - I know my friends abroad would love it!!!

### 5/5 — New features!

*2022-06-08*

Agility Gate is such a benefit for trials and competitors. Love the app and now with the new marker dog feature there is even more to love. I hear people say “but I don’t carry my phone” - notifications can come to your Apple and other smart watches if set up. It’s Uber cool! Thank you!

### 5/5 — Super !!!

*2022-03-13, version 1.0.16*

May be the best thing to come out of the pandemic! Much appreciation Roger! Love it!!
Kelly

### 5/5 — Great app for handlers

*2020-10-25*

I 100% endorse this app and it’s use at all agility trials. This allowed me to crate in my vehicle without making frequent trips to the ring to see the status. It gives handlers a better idea of the timing. And with this technology available, I’m surprised it wasn’t available sooner. I think it’s a great start and has many opportunities to grow such as course building status and walk thrus, but one step at a time. Great job!

### 5/5 — Awesome Agility Trial App

*2020-10-04*

This app puts everything you need to know about your agility trial—class order, dog running order, checking in, course maps, and live updates as the dogs run. No more check-in white boards and fumbling with paper course maps. And, it is very simple to use. This is truly a rare silver lining as a result of Covid-19 restrictions. Thank you Roger.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2020-10-01, version 1.0.9*

Very easy to use. Great tool to keep up with runs for exhibitors and volunteers. Please please develop one for Scentwork!!!

### 5/5 — A godsend!

*2020-09-30*

Waiting for hours in the hot sun for our trial run has been brutal for our dog- and for us. Finally there’s a way to monitor the progress of trial events and time our arrival (or when to emerge from our travel trailer). Thank you, Roger!
