### 4/5 — Simply Great

*2026-03-10, version 1.36.1*

Just stumbled across this and thought I’d give it a go … really good app with some great calm supporting YT videos.
All too often apps get bloaty … Ahmni is not at all bloaty and has a really solid basic set of tools that work really well together. The infinite zoom works perfectly and combined with zoom options and bookmarks is almost perfect for catching, thinking and exploring

It would be nice to be able to paste markdown text blocks in a similar manner to pdfs and also some form of iPhone viewer would be good for referring to iPad sessions when out and about .. but really the app is great regardless .. so 5* and a subscription from me !

### 4/5 — Best Infinite Canvas with huge potentials

*2025-09-25, version 1.33.0*

Downloaded and used it, subscribed to Pro after a few days. Everything is working well, but I’m giving it 4 out of 5 stars because I wish they had the feature of Audio Recording. I still have to use Goodnotes 6 for recording audio transcriptions of myself explaining the Mindmap so that I can view and listen concurrently for review as an auditory learner.

### 5/5 — Battery usage

*2025-09-05, version 1.33.0*

Great app with nice ideas to develop, need to improve battery perform.

### 5/5 — Best infinite-zoom canvas app for serious research

*2025-08-28, version 1.31.0*

I must give this a review if only in the hopes of building momentum and giving support for this app and its developer so that the community will grow and the developer be supported so the app succeeds in the years to come - because I am now coming to depend on it.

I methodically tried many of the infinite-zoom apps - I have been at this for days now, giving hours a day - and I *almost* went with another one (Endless Paper), but in the end am using this app (Ahmni: Infinite Canvas). I've now moved past the stage of "testing notes" and am actually using the infinite canvas for real mathematics review and practice tasks.

No infinite-zoom app for iPad currently supports the ability to paste or create clickable links (i.e., to websites or other internal app links - internal *bookmarks* to points within this app's infinite-zoom canvas *are* well supported), which is incredibly frustrating, but this app's ability to display an internally-loaded (from any external source) PDF in a left expandable pane, scrolling quickly even through PDFs 100s of pages long, and trivially and quickly drag a selection rectangle around any content in the PDF, small or large, and drag out onto the current spot on the infinite-zoom canvas, to copy an image of what is in the selection out onto the infinite canvas permanently such that clicking with a finger tap on that image will instantly open the PDF and jump right back to that page - is actually almost as good as what LiquidText does and makes up for the lack of links somehow.

This app is just really well done. It does everything it needs to as an infinite-zoom canvas app.

Unlike other apps which for some reason I'll never understand have your written ink strokes constantly reshape themselves the moment you lift the pencil, this has perfect non-intrusive and exact writing. Document management is straightforward (though I suspect I'll only have my one document - this is an infinite-zoom canvas, after all). Bookmarks work as expected. Pencil thickness and color are easy enough to change and the toolbar is fine. No surprises or gotchas as you zoom in and out and keep writing.

Somehow, there end up being very few infinite-zoom canvas apps that actually pass all the basic tests for required, solid, non-obtrusive functionality. And of the few real candidates, this is the best one.

Oh, and I actually do find myself using the "multiple select" lasso to rotate text back to horizontal after rotating a selected set of ink strokes, just like in the little video that you see for this app. Never imagined I'd be one to actually use or need that, but this app works so flawlessly that I find myself rotating my little math diagrams and then actually using this feature, which is easy to do because you can just zoom in to easily select the text you want to rotate, even if it's small. Anyways, just a little detail worth mentioning- not the main point of this review.

The main point of this review is that this app is pretty new and I hope it gains momentum and stays strong. It's the best infinite-zoom canvas app there is for iPad and for those really trying to make the best use of their iPad for research and ongoing skills review and learning, do take advantage of the infinite-zoom canvas both to make sure you can squeeze in all your notes without running out of space or losing your place, and so that you can zoom back out and remember where you left off.

This technology is worth taking advantage of because life is short and there's no end of what needs to be learned. This is the app to choose if this description fits what you're looking for.

Glad to chime in to support the app with this review. I'm definitely a subscriber and a user now.

### 5/5 — What Karnbir said

*2025-08-25, version 1.31.0*

This app is phenomenal for mindmapping and organizing reviews of learning. The Ahmni YouTube channel is an incredibly deep resource for how to learn better, in general, and how this app might fit in.

### 5/5 — almost perfect

*2025-08-16, version 1.30.0*

it’s missing a text feature and phone compatibility(at least i haven’t found both). To many students, especially those who commute on train/bus or want to look up something on their phone quickly, won’t be convenient. i’m crossing all my fingers for typed text feature & phone compatibility, then i will continue to use and promote it, i love it so far, but those missing things keep me away

### 5/5 — Different then before

*2025-07-20, version 1.30.0*

Before: not infinite

Now: infinite, can use different kinds of backgrounds, is epic.

### 5/5 — Ottima!

*2025-06-06, version 1.26.0*

Mi ha aiutato nella preparazione dei miei ultimi esami. Comodissima

### 5/5 — Shut up and take my money

*2025-05-31, version 1.26.0*

Just buy it already. Stop goofing around with Notability and Goodnotes. You are wasting your time with “aesthetic notes” and notes in general. Start mapping!

### 5/5 — Wow

*2025-05-27, version 1.26.0*

This is high quality, well-written, powerful software. It is obvious that the developer behind Ahmni ensured it was built with care and consideration. As a fellow software engineer 🫡

### 4/5 — Super App

*2025-05-20, version 1.26.0*

Tolle App, das Design könnte cleaner gestaltet sein.

### 5/5 — App is quite Sigma.

*2025-05-16, version 1.26.0*

App is quite skibidi.

### 5/5 — Never reviewed any app but this

*2025-05-13, version 1.23.0*

Look into adding webpages just like pdf (just like in other apps)

I have never reviewed any app on App Store ever and I’ve been trying multiple note taking apps or mind maps, including Goodnotes and Freeform form from Apple, infinite blank pages, etc but this time I have found the exact features in apps that have been looking for and its here, and I’m always against a subscription against a subscription model and purchased Goodnotes over notability just for the shake of one time payment, but for this app, it’s first time I am going for a subscription model to buy

Hats off to the developer

PS , I am a developer myself , was thinking if I didn’t found any, I’ll build myself, but today I just got stumble upon it

### 4/5 — 😍😘🥰

*2025-05-08, version 1.23.0*

Thanku for such a beautiful creation. 1 star lacking because i need just one more feature to make app more productive i.e. multiple windows/mutliple tabs whatever you like.👍 i wish you and your team a bright future.
Please bring -multiple windows. It is becoming very difficult to open and close notes just for cross reference.

### 5/5 — Different

*2025-05-05, version 1.23.0*

I like the pdf note taking feature on the canvas a lot!

### 5/5 — Finally a good infinite-zoom app

*2025-05-02, version 1.23.0*

It’s perfect for all the students

### 5/5 — Best mindmap,note taking app ou there!

*2025-05-01, version 1.23.0*

This is by far the best mind mapping app I’ve found there. It forces you to get into active learning mode and not only that it has so many different options that I’ve never come across other apps of its kind

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — I can’t select objects unless I pay

*2026-03-30, version 1.36.1*

.

### 1/5 — No one time purchase

*2025-01-03, version 1.21.0*

Its total waste if there is no one time purchase option. Deleting the app

### 1/5 — Can’t draw

*2024-06-15, version 1.17.0*

I’m on my ipad and i can’t draw anything. The screen just moves on touch but doesn’t draw anything even when the pen tool is selected.

### 2/5 — Great but Support is 503

*2025-08-26, version 1.31.0*

After an iPad system update this app stopped working completely. When you try to contact Support, you’re not redirected to a sports site.

### 2/5 — Partial eraser is pro only

*2025-04-17, version 1.23.0*

To be clear, this is the normal eraser tool. This app invented a new, less useful eraser tool, made it the default, and paywalled the normal eraser tool. I can totally get paywalling, but an extremely high subscription cost for access to an eraser is cartoon villain levels of greed. This is sad, since the rest of the app is extremely solid, truly wasted potential. Only use this if the expanding canvas is truly that important to you, otherwise stick with any of the many other notes apps out there.

### 3/5 — Crashing more often

*2026-03-10, version 1.36.1*

Overall the product is good. Has great features most infinite canvas apps are lacking. This is truly an infinite broad but lately the app has been crashing multiple times while using which is very distracting to the work flow. However all of your work is saved automatically so you can just reopen but after 3 times in under 2 hours it’s annoying

### 3/5 — I can’t draw with my finger

*2024-10-02, version 1.19.0*

Why can I not draw with my fingers

### 3/5 — Please get a affordable lifetime membership

*2024-02-02, version 1.5.0*

Being a student I cannot stress more on the fact that this app needs to have a lifetime membership exclusively for students like how liquid text does

### 3/5 — Not infinite

*2024-01-07, version 1.2.0*

Good app but not infinite like advertised

### 3/5 — some things missing

*2023-12-25, version 1.0.7*

it has potential because the spaced repetition in handwritten notes is an AMAZING IDEA. but i miss the ability to import pics and other documents, stickers, more pen options, colors for the folders, folders in a grid form instead of just a list….

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — I have tried about 20 note taking apps and this is the best

*2026-05-18, version 1.37.0*

Okay so what do you need a notetaking app to be? It needs to serve as your canvas as your mind map when you’re right it needs to not be lagging. It needs to have colours that are soothing to the eyes and easy of use is if you’re not distracting but most importantly and I’m I emphasise on this that it doesn’t lag and your palm taking is good. Your palm detection is good. I have literally tried every known app that is in the App Store for my five years as a pharmacy student and this I’m so glad that I’m trying this right now. It fits every criteria that I ever wanted and the infinite canvas is amazing literally you guys done an amazing job and amazing amazing amazing job good job and I’m I’m literally surprised that it’s you get so much as a free user.

### 5/5 — This is the best app ever

*2026-03-21, version 1.36.1*

I love this app I can draw without paying I love this it’s the best app I have ever used

### 5/5 — Still mapping away

*2025-11-19, version 1.34.0*

One year anniversary for me, connected a second account. Happy to pay

### 5/5 — Fav note taker

*2025-11-15, version 1.34.0*

I love this apps and it’s amazing features it’s like it knew what I wanted in a note taking app. I’m currently in college and I have so much notes to take. I would use good notes before but I realized after so many countless pages I never would look back on my notes. The white board esk feature this app has- has made my note taking experience so much better! And I like how it writes very clean and precise. I can write and write and never get tired and I can look at previous notes easier as all I gotta do is zoom out. I just wish i had more access to every tool lol, unfortunately most tools are behind a paywall witch isn’t bad nor would mind paying I just need them to add more shapes and features for it to be worth my coins lolll

### 5/5 — Love it. Possibly the best. Few more things to make it perfect.

*2025-11-07, version 1.34.0*

Easily the best canvas app. Love the learning science integrations. Experience is smooth, beautiful and responsive. New LLM feature has real potential. It’s one of the hidden gems on iPad and I genuinely think it is massively underrated. IMO the minimal yearly subscription is worth every cent.

If you are serious about non-linear thinking, buy it.

That’s it. That’s the review. What follows is realistically a wishlist that would move this app from a 4.5/5 to an 11/10…

- Audio recording with stroke linking, and ideally AI transcription - like Goodnotes and Notability
- SVG export to enable elemental integration with PKMs (eg Excalidraw)
- Better linking and visualisation of files (eg Miro style embedding with visual thumbnails in file explorer and backlinking navigation). I am a huge fan of obsidian for similar reasons and would cry tears of joy for a thousand years if you integrated obsidian flavoured markdown integration for structured concept map generation. PKMs are severely lacking in good digitising tablet tools.
- Holy Grail (recognise this is insane to implement) but Gemini-live or GPT-realtime audio+screenshare support to enable live AI learning - with tool use (web, mcp, etc). Can’t really get better than that.

### 5/5 — Smooth, responsive, and a joy to write with

*2025-10-29, version 1.33.0*

I’ve tried a lot of note and mindmap apps, and this one stands out. The canvas is fast and fluid, zooming is buttery smooth, and it never stutters—even with big maps. Handwriting feels natural and precise, easily the best experience I’ve had in a writing app. Multi‑lasso edits, focus tools, and PDF support make it great for study and planning. If you value a clean workflow and reliable performance, this is the one.

### 5/5 — The app is great

*2025-10-06, version 1.33.0*

The app is great for notetaking & higheroder learning, but please kindly add shape tool to draw clear shapes.

### 5/5 — Study System upgrade

*2025-09-26, version 1.33.0*

This app gave me so much more utility than my previous note taking app concepts, it genuinely made me so much faster at learning.

### 5/5 — Best(not just on ios but among all softwares)

*2025-09-25, version 1.33.0*

Best mind map taking software and really easy to use too!

### 5/5 — Love the app, would like shapes

*2025-09-18, version 1.33.0*

This app is my second brain and I love its price point, the. Only thing I would like to see is a feature that has more shapes available than just circle. Otherwise amazing, and I’m writing this review in hopes it will reach the developers
