## What is AI Calorie Counter?

Calorie tracking sucks alone. Kalo is what happens when you bring your people: your friends, your partner, or both.

Snap a photo of your plate. In seconds, Kalo tells you what's on it, how big the portion is, and what it costs you: calories, macros, and a one-line nutrition note. No barcodes. No database digging. Too lazy to snap? Type it or just say it out loud. All three roads lead to the same place.

Kalo uses Google's Gemini AI (Google Cloud Vertex AI) to estimate calories. When you log a meal, your photo, voice clip, or typed description is sent to Google for analysis. Kalo asks for your permission before any of this happens.

Kalo was born as a couples app, and it still shines for two. Track side by side, cheer each other's good days, and star your favorite person as your partner. When one of you gets Premium, you both have it. One subscription, two people.

PREMIUM SUBSCRIPTION

Kalo Premium unlocks the full experience: unlimited meal logging with photo, text, and voice, calorie and macro goals, friends and reactions, nudges, and shared streaks. Star one friend as your partner and they share your Premium. Built for two, billed for one.

Kalo Premium is an auto-renewable subscription with two options:
• Kalo Premium Monthly
• Kalo Premium Annual

Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase. Your subscription renews automatically at the same price unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel anytime in iPhone Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.

Kalo opens straight into your day now. No more waiting on a grey screen that shuffles itself around once it finishes loading.

If you and your partner are already linked, their side is there from the first moment, instead of briefly offering to invite someone you already have.

Signing up is shorter too. We removed a consent screen, and we now ask about Health after your first meal and about notifications once you have someone to share with, so neither one interrupts you on the way in.

Getting started is easier now. Right after setup, Kalo shows you where to log your first meal, and celebrates with you when it lands.

You can switch between metric and imperial in Settings, so weights read the way you already think about them.

And if there is something you wish Kalo did, Settings now has Request a feature. It goes straight to us.

### 1.6.1 — 2026-08-26

Fixed a problem where an ingredient could not be removed from a meal. If a meal has only one ingredient left, Kalo now tells you why instead of doing nothing.

Your day, right on your Home Screen. Add the new Today widget to see the calories you have left, your protein, carbs and fat, your streak, and how your partner is doing, all without opening the app. There is a Lock Screen version too, and one tap takes you straight to logging your next meal.
