## What is AI Italian?

Photograph a page and it becomes a lesson. Look a word up and several AIs answer at once. No sign-up, the first 10 uses are free with every feature, and if you keep it, you pay once — there is no subscription.

■ Turn a textbook or your notes into a study note
Photograph a lesson, a handout or your handwriting and the text in the picture is transcribed. Correct anything misread on the spot. One tap adds a summary and an explanation covering grammar, expressions and cultural background, and you can tap any word to dig into it. Choose how many questions and how hard, and test yourself on that lesson straight away. Notes link to each other, so you can be tested across related notes.

■ Ask several AIs, not one
Claude, Gemini and others answer the same question side by side. Where they agree and where they differ is visible, which is a check a single chat cannot give you. Meaning, etymology, inflection and two conversation examples — casual and formal — come as standard.

■ Everything you study becomes review material
Related words become questions on their own. Spaced repetition (SM-2 or Leitner, your choice) brings them back just before you forget, and anything you mark “Again” returns until it sticks. Export to Anki when you want to.

■ Listening, from your own material
Import audio by scanning a QR code in your book or from files on your device. Playback continues with the screen off and can be controlled from the lock screen. Mark an A-B range and turn it into a dictation question — each review plays exactly that range. Transcription turns a recording into text you can look words up in.

■ Languages
Italian and English, plus French, German and Spanish with Pro or during the trial. The interface is available in English and Japanese and follows your device setting.

■ About using it
No API key is required. The first 10 uses give you every feature, and buying Pro (one payment) keeps it going, with a monthly usage cap and a limited set of models. Register your own OpenRouter API key and you can use any model with no cap.

The words and images you enter are sent through OpenRouter to the AI providers to generate explanations; you are asked before this happens the first time. On the trial and Pro these go through our relay server, which does not store what you send — only an anonymous usage count. Your history and API key are stored only on your device.

### 1.3.0 — 2026-09-16

· The app is now available in English. It follows your device language, and you can switch it by hand under Settings › Display and study.
· Explanations, summaries and questions from the AI are written in the language of the interface, so an English interface gives you English explanations.
· Added a "How to use" page under Settings covering each tab, the trial and Pro, and how your data is handled.
· You can now photograph a textbook page after page. The shots are gathered into a single note, so one summary and one set of questions cover the whole passage.
· Choose how deep an explanation you want — Simple, Normal or Detailed. The choice is remembered per note, so it can follow how hard the material is.
· Added Scan, which straightens a photographed page and trims away the desk around it (Pro).
· Quizzes now give you a box to type the answer in. Checking it marks you right or wrong, and you pick the review interval after seeing that result.
· The test that opens right after you create questions from a note now has the same answer box.
· Conversation questions still work by self-marking against a model answer — there is no single right way to say something, so they are not marked automatically.
· Note photos can be reordered, so pages taken out of sequence can be put back in order.
· Notes can be tagged, and the list can be filtered by tag.
· Export the questions from a single note to Anki, so you can keep a deck per book.
· Words picked out of a photo in the Search tab can be turned straight into a note.
· Save a word from an explanation onto the note, where it is kept as a related word.
· Statistics now include a score per note, worst first, so it is easier to decide what to study next.
· Backups can include the note photos themselves, so they survive moving to a new phone.
· Fixed the price shown in Settings and on the trial-ended message: it now always uses the price from the App Store for your country, instead of a fixed Japanese price.

・解説の表示を見直し、見出し・箇条書き・表を読みやすくしました。解説内の単語はタップして調べられます。
・クイズに選択式の回答モードを追加し、クイズタブに今日の復習数を表示するようにしました。
・設定画面を整理し、現在の状態（利用経路・モデル・お試し残り）が一覧できるようにしました。
・ノートから「会話練習」の問題を作れるようにしました。場面と相手のセリフが出るので、自分の番のセリフを考えて答えます。模範解答と解説で自己採点できます。
・ノート同士のつながりを図で見られるようにしました。ノート詳細では2つ先まで、一覧では全体を表示し、丸をタップでそのノートへ移動できます。
・取り込んだ音声を文字起こしすると、話の切れ目から自動でチャプタを作るようにしました。音声タブのチャプタ一覧をタップすると、その位置から再生できます。
・iPadで画面が広いとき、ノートの一覧と中身を左右に並べて表示するようにしました。画面の幅が変わると自動で切り替わります。
・関連しそうなノートを自動で見つけて提案するようにしました。ノートを開くと、同じ言葉が出てくる他のノートが候補に並びます。取り入れるかどうかはその場で選べます。
・単語を調べたときの例文を、会話のやりとり2パターンで出すようにしました。くだけた場面と改まった場面の両方が見られます。
・クイズの採点をボタンに統一しました。スワイプでの採点をやめ、誤って別の評価が入ることがなくなりました。
・クイズで正解・不正解のときに短い音が鳴るようにしました。設定の「表示・通知」からオフにできます。
