## What is AI Money Coach?

$23 left for today. Sorted will tell you what to do with it.

Sorted is an AI money coach that actually plans, prescribes, and holds you to it. Built for side hustlers, debt crushers, and anyone tired of dashboards that just stare back.

—— A daily number that ends the math ——

Every morning, Sorted gives you one number: what you can spend today without breaking your plan. Tap it for the why. Spend it on what matters.

—— A coach who tells you what to do ——

"Skip the latte. Pay the card first. Yes, get the sushi."

The Coach is one tap away on every screen. Direct, never preachy, and always has the math behind the advice. Powered by GPT-4 and Claude under zero-retention agreements — your data is never used to train models.

—— Plans your paycheck, not just tracks it ——

• AI categorizes every transaction (and learns when you correct it)
• Auto-detects recurring bills, subscriptions, and side hustle income
• Splits business from personal for Etsy / Depop / Fiverr / freelance
• Builds a payoff plan for credit cards and student loans
• Tracks goals: emergency fund, ring, apartment, trip — anything

—— iOS-native, not a web app in a wrapper ——

• Home Screen Widget — your daily number, always visible
• Lock Screen Widget — glance without unlocking
• Apple Watch complication — your number on your wrist
• Dynamic Island — live spending as you tap

—— Bank-grade privacy ——

• Read-only bank connection via Plaid (the same security layer Venmo, Robinhood, and Coinbase use)
• Plaid access tokens encrypted at rest with pgcrypto
• No selling data, ever. No ads, ever. Not a fintech-in-disguise.
• Delete your account in two taps. Data gone in 24 hours.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.2.7 — 2026-08-11

Sorted 1.2.7 reworks the budgeting model around one idea: you allocate, what's left is free to spend.

New budgeting model

- Free to Spend = income minus your budgets. You set a budget per category (needs, wants, savings); what's left is free to spend.
- Every dollar has a job. Setup blocks until income = sum(budgets) + free to spend. You must allocate every dollar.
- Detected bills are suggestions, not subtractions. Plaid-detected recurring expenses surface as "track as a category? cut to save?" The full amount pre-fills for rent, mortgage, child support, alimony, loan payments. Reducing a hard commitment warns "you'll be short" but doesn't lock.
- Goals and wants are both allocations. "Savings" is a category you allocate, same as needs and wants. No separate goals subtraction.
- No rollover. Unspent free-to-spend resets to zero at month end.

Today screen: 3 numbers

1. How much can I spend today? (daily safe-to-spend, hero)
2. How much can I spend the rest of this week? (weekly remaining, context)
3. How much do I have for the month? (monthly pool, small context line)

- Carry subtitle explains why daily > pace ("+$X carry from prior days" / "-$X carry (overspent)").
- Suggested pace is a small guidance label, not a dollar figure.

Plan screen

- "How this number is calculated" now shows "Income - Allocations = Free to Spend" (allocations include tracked rent/child support).
- Breakdown sheet math is now consistent with the card.

Setup flow: allocation-first

1. Income
2. Detected expenses (track as category?)
3. Allocate (Free to Spend updates in real time)
4. Every dollar has a job (blocks until balanced)
5. Confirm

Other

- Coach affordability checks against allocations.
- Last sync timestamp populated on connections (fixes manual-only "Sync pending forever").
- Partial sync. Chart renders with a warning when some connections are behind.
- Month-to-date spend is current-month scoped (cross-month weeks stay honest).

Bug fixes

- NaN in "Spent this month" — sanitized non-finite transaction amounts.
- Legacy users — allocations populated from budget table so spendableMonthly = income - sum(budgets) (not the old fixed-driven fallback).
- Card vs sheet math — both now show income - allocations.
- Redundant display — removed the inline "Free to Spend this month / Spent this month / Left this month" block from the Plan card.

### 1.2.6 — 2026-07-25

NEW IN THIS VERSION

• Proof-first onboarding: see your real numbers before you ever start a trial
• Redesigned Today screen with a cleaner hero number, soft glow, and 7-day pace strip
• Smarter Daily Number: improved pace-adjusted calculation so your number stays accurate as the week unfolds
• Manual override: connected users can now adjust their Daily Number if they disagree with the bank-detected value
• Visual polish across the app — trust screen, onboarding flow, and Reveal
• Performance improvements and bug fixes

### 1.2.5 — 2026-07-08

Sorted feels a lot more alive in this update.

New:
• Vera, your money coach, now has a clearer identity across onboarding, Coach, and Today.
• Shareable win cards let you celebrate daily numbers, Reveal moments, and goal progress with a polished Sorted card.
• New celebration moments for wins like funding a goal, setting your daily number, and staying on pace.
• Reveal has been redesigned with a richer Aurora look, clearer money moments, and better sharing.

Improved:
• The Plan tab now shows your daily number, today’s remaining amount, monthly progress, and budget allocations in one place.
• The “Set a daily number” flow now lands where it makes sense and guides you into setup when needed.
• Paid users now get unlimited bank connections.
• Activity filters, transaction details, and transaction splitting are more reliable.
• Coach setup limits no longer lock the whole chat.

Also includes many small fixes across onboarding, Today, Plan, Coach, Accounts, Activity, and Settings.

### 1.2.4 — 2026-07-06

Sorted has a new look, and a few things that just work better.

• A calmer redesign — a deep-violet dark theme, cleaner numbers, and new charts across Today, Accounts, and Plan.
• Daily check-ins. Turn on notifications in Settings to get a quiet morning nudge, plus a heads-up on large or unusual charges.
• Truer numbers. Transfers and card or loan payments no longer count as spending, so what you "spent" is what you actually spent.
• Polish throughout — smoother motion, a floating bottom bar, and roomier layouts.

### 1.2.3 — 2026-05-31

Your money, sorted — now from the very first tap.

This is our biggest update yet. We rebuilt the first run, simplified the whole app, and made your Coach a lot smarter.

• Meet your money in seconds. Connect an account (or add it by hand) and Sorted shows you something you didn't know — your real debt-free date, the subscriptions quietly draining you, and your safe-to-spend number for today.

• Try everything free for a week. Full access to Sorted+ for 7 days — no credit card. On day 7, see everything Sorted found for you.

• One number, every morning. Today now leads with your safe-to-spend for the day, already accounting for the bills landing this week.

• A smarter Coach. Ask anything about your money and watch it think in real time. Your chats are saved now, and Coach tailors its advice to you.

• See your goals land. The new Plan tab forecasts when you'll hit each goal at your current pace — goals, income, and bills in one clean view.

• Watch your net worth grow. Accounts now shows your trend over time, how much debt you've paid down this month, and a clear payoff plan.

• Calmer and faster. Five focused tabs, smoother bank syncing, better accessibility, and a lot of polish.

Thanks for using Sorted. Every review genuinely helps.
