Compared to my multi page manual notes, the summary missed much. When I figured out it would not work and asked for a refund, they refused. Started it and put it down at the beginning of the meeting only to check it midway through and discover it had shut off and wasn’t recording. I restarted it multiple times doing the same thing. Eventually it finally recorded, as soon as I went to end and save the little bit of recording it managed to get, it didn’t save it!!! Haven’t encountered a more defective app. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Cancelled subscription but still charged *2026-03-30, version 2.0.9* I actually don’t recall purchasing this app but I’ll give the benefit of the doubt. However I cancelled the “subscription” and it continues to charge my credit card. ### 1/5 — Scam *2026-03-26, version 2.0.7* Was told is was good what a joke can't even transcribe simple clear audio. Should remain it to audio recorder data taker. ### 1/5 — Terrible note taker *2026-03-23, version 2.0.6* Recorded almost 2 hours of a meeting and it showed the time was recording the whole thing….. and when we went to generate the notes it only actually recorded the first 32 seconds…. I was relying on this app to do its job and it screwed me over. ### 1/5 — Complete Junk *2026-03-13* There is little to no functionality with this app and as others have previously stated by others does NOT appear to be a Fathom product. Additionally the app summary on Apple indicates that it allows for “easy editing and PDF exports of your notes.” That is a COMPLETE LIE - you are ONLY able to export the summary, which from my experience is lacking in detail as it is too high level. ### 1/5 — App doesn’t let me sign in *2026-03-13* Just downloaded and the app won’t let me sign up or sign in. Just says there’s an error ### 1/5 — File disappeared *2026-03-13* Tried using it at a first meeting it showed it recorded 92 minutes went back to upload the file and it was gone. And no help from Apple. ## Most praised reviews (5 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Unreliable *2026-03-13* I've used it five times, three times it worked perfectly fine, twice for no given reason it just stopped recording without any notice. One recording was visible, but when I try to save it, it disappears. Really frustrating, assuming the app was working, I was not taking notes during the meeting. ### 5/5 — Love it *2026-03-05* I absolutely love fathom. It helped me with Car repairs. It helps me with my school. AI automation helps me with research. It helps me with everything couldn’t live without it. ### 3/5 — AI Notetaker *2026-04-03, version 2.0.10* I have an iPhone SE Gen 2. I tried the app for 3 days. Clean lines, intuitive GUI. I found in a noisy environment the app worked surprisingly really well, capturing the audio of multiple individual speakers and translating it with no issues. Where I find it lacks is in being able to get the original audio and translation text off the app (it can send a summary, but that’s it). Keeping that information in the app and not being able to get it into the wild where it’s useful to other people is a significant drawback. Limited functionality but has potential with some work. ### 2/5 — False Advertising *2026-01-20* This is not connected to the Fathom meeting app, and it doesn’t work well for transcribing notes. ### 2/5 — Don’t like the stop button *2025-12-04* Used it for the first time and when the meeting was over I hit that big red record button to stop the recording and not the little blue bar underneath it. So my recording wasn’t saved. I’m very frustrated by that. When stopping a typical video you hit that red button. It’s also big and glaring in your face.
