### 4/5 — so happy

*2026-06-12*

i started using another search engine that didn't show the AI overview but it limited the results shown. i'm so excited to not have to scroll past the first bit of a search to see a real website

### 3/5 — It stopped working, could the developer fix this?

*2026-03-12*

I hate AI garbage so much

### 3/5 — Not working anymore!

*2026-01-25*

This app no longer blocks Google AI overviews. I think Google circumvented the blocking method. To the dev, please update your app so it can still work. The app is great when it works.

### 2/5 — not currently functional

*2025-11-28*

changes to google search sometime in the past couple weeks have overruled this extension, which hasn't been updated in a few months. but 99 cents isn't too much of a loss, and i hope this will be updated sooner or later.

### 5/5 — It just WORKS.

*2025-10-30*

Fantastic. Works exactly as described. The setup process is as simple as it could be (if you are already familiar with how to enable Safari extensions). I saw one review say the setup is unintuitive - which is true, but thats Apple’s fault for how they manage Safari extensions, not the dev. Probably the best 99¢ I’ve spent and I WILL be recommending this to all of my friends hahaha

### 5/5 — It works just like they said

*2025-10-25*

It works, only problem is the lack of instructions. otherwise it’s literally perfect and totally worth the dollar for the service.

### 5/5 — IT WORKS!

*2025-10-03*

Yippee!!!

### 3/5 — Hides doesn't disable; AI result still loads

*2025-08-17*

This works as described (hides the result) but just an FYI (or Q) that it does not appear to disable the AI function (as happens when you search with "-ai"). The AI overview loads for a split second and then disappears (on desktop). If you do not want to produce the AI result period, I do not believe this extension is the solution. (Also, perhaps it's just me, but I need to wait half a second for it to even be hidden. I ultimatedly disabled the extension.)

### 5/5 — Works & Quick Easy Setup

*2025-07-05*

I never leave reviews I am for this extension as it’s such a relief that I had to support the dev who put this together.

If you are at all bothered by Google’s intrusive AI Overviews, get this immediately.

You could just use a different search engine, but then you get worse search results.

With this extension, YOU once again control when you search the web or query an LLM, which obviously have very different use cases.

### 5/5 — preciate yall

*2025-07-05*

i was worried there wouldn't be an app to get rid of the ai, but then this came up

now i can look stuff up like normal again. hoping this catches on

### 4/5 — Thanks

*2025-06-30*

Anyway to make this work on Chrome?

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Just bought, didn’t work

*2026-03-02*

Bought all apps after loved your twitter app but couldn’t get this to work

### 1/5 — Not working

*2026-02-22*

I turned it on in settings multiple times and it doesn’t stay on. Is not working.

### 1/5 — Works for 2 minutes, then never again

*2026-01-30*

I downloaded this to hide the annoying and often misleading Google AI summary. It did the job for about 2 searches, and then stopped hiding them completely. The fact that they charge for this broken extension is ridiculous and shows just how easy it is to publish slop on the App Store as long as Apple gets a cut of the revenue.

### 1/5 — Used to work. Now it doesn’t.

*2025-12-17*

Doesn’t work

### 1/5 — Is it safe?

*2025-11-13*

It says it can read and alter sensitive information on web pages including passwords, credit cards and phone numbers when turning on the required permissions. Why is it saying it can alter my information?

### 1/5 — Didn’t work.

*2025-10-11*

Does this not work on the Safari app for iOS?

I did everything I knew I could. I bought and installed the app. I enabled it in Settings, enabled to both allow the extension and allow it in private browsing, turned on ‘Allow’ for all options. I then went to Safari, turned it on, and enabled it on all websites.

What is it I have not done? Or have I done everything I had to? I will be disabling this until I, hopefully, receive a response.

### 1/5 — Not working

*2025-09-14*

The extension has not effect at all. The AI overview remains visible.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2025-09-10, version 1.0.9*

Doesn’t work at all. Total ripoff.

### 1/5 — 消えませんでした

*2025-08-22*

iPadOS 18.6 18.6.2 で動作しない

### 1/5 — does not work

*2025-04-15*

i feel scammed. thank god it was only a $1. but this extension does not work for safari. i enabled it on the safari extension settings but the google gemini ai overview is still there.

**Developer response:** Hi,

Did you also grant access for the extension to run on google.ca? Unfortunately, Safari extensions are installed without any permissions to run on the sites you specifically installed them to run on.

We have an FAQ on our site about this:

https://soitis.dev/ai-overview-hider-for-google#mac-safari-postinstall

Since this review, we also added support for hiding multiple new versions of AI Overviews Google rolled out, which might be what you saw. They seem to be inconsistently available depending on your region, but once we see new variants, we fix hiding them and release a new version.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Works!

*2026-07-20*

Currently works as promised. You need to allow it to access the google URL in settings.

### 5/5 — It works!

*2026-07-02*

It works as described.

For those who are stuck:
if you wanna enable the extension, first go to safari, then go to any website, then click the button on the right of the refresh button. It should look like a rectangle with 2 lines underneath it. Click on manage extensions, turn it on then boom shakalaka its done

### 5/5 — Working for me

*2026-06-17*

AI overview is gone for search results on desktop.

The AI Mode button is still there however, and the “People also ask” section is seemingly disabled, just FYI.

### 5/5 — Works great

*2026-05-31*

Very simple and straightforward extension. Simply removes the AI Overview and AI-powered “People Are Saying” sections from Google search. Setup was extremely easy so I’m not quite sure what other reviews mean when they say that it’s difficult.

### 5/5 — As advertised

*2026-05-30*

Thank you for making this a thing I cannot stand AI overview

### 5/5 — Finally I can escape the hell

*2026-05-23*

You have no idea how much of a lifesaver an extension like this is for a student. Trying to looking for academic papers only for the g_dammed AI overview to pop up like the hells-pawn of Silicon Valley that it is. Thank you for making such a valuable piece of software that I can use across my iPad, MacBook and iPhone. £0.99 is truly a worthy price to pay for such a gift. Absolute bliss, please continue to update this app!!! :>

### 5/5 — Great Extension | Superb App Dev

*2026-04-18*

Excellent app and developer.

Fixed desktop experience now as comments below. I’m sure Google will keep you on your toes with changes to their system.

Does exactly what it says on the tin - Purchase now!

Great app keep up the great work!

**** All fixed ****
Great extension. Works perfectly using mobile browsing request only.

However on requesting desktop website, it refuses to work.

The default on iPad and Mac will be desktop browsing and currently not working. The ai overviews will still show within the all tab on Google.

Shame as this extension is simple, lightweight and works great in mobile mode.

This is currently misleading to users looking to use this extension across all devices as stated.

Hopefully this can be fixed soon. Other apps have achieved this in all browsing modes on Safari but unfortunately cheating pushing you to the web tab in google search - which isn’t the same as the all tab.

Kudos to the developer - I’m sure you’ll figure this out.

Keep up the great work.

### 5/5 — 要約の霧が晴れて、検索の森に朝が戻る

*2026-03-03*

「AI Overview Hider for Google」

### 5/5 — Ignore 3 star review it works flawlessly

*2026-02-24*

Works perfectly you just need to know how to set it up (although it doesn’t give much info on how to). When you install you need to turn it on in extensions then also give it permissions to access google (without this it won’t work, obviously).

Thank you developer for getting rid of the inaccurate ai google slop.

### 5/5 — Goodbye AI

*2026-01-16*

I have an extension for chrome on my computer, but was sad i couldn’t find anything except customize search engine, which made google feel much more limited. This has made it so that there is now no ai overview altogether,
