Playlists don’t quite do it, and the other apps’ algorithms seem think I like listening to the same song over and over and over. Aimi is always changing yet always consistent. I can adjust the music to be what I want it to be. So cool! In fact, the only complaint I’d really have about this app (given it’s free) is that, like its counterpart Holon, it cannot be integrated into Audiobus, AUM, or through a host via Audio Units. No human element. Once you know what a 4/4 beat is, you’ll notice what you’re hearing is just looped segments repeating and occasionally shifting and sometimes missing the mark where your instinct expects something to “happen” and it quite often doesn’t because it’s apparently just an algorithm layering those loops and is it just me, or is it really this cold in here? I’d be more interested if the loops were created by-and credited to- respected names in the field, but instead, if it’s not AI, it’s anonymous. Kind of cynical and a bit depressing to think about how devalued music has become in the last 20 years, so here’s another reminder. ### 2/5 — Meh *2021-08-16* Many other reviewers claim they “instantly fell in love with the high quality music.” Not me. If you consider yourself a discerning electronic music fan this will only ever pass as background sound that has somewhat of a beat woven into it. Maybe I’m missing the point of the app or something but there’s just no way you could pay me to listen to something that sounds so predictable and lifeless as this. The newest features in the app are great for ADHD, and help me adjust the music to my mix preferences and volumes while focusing. If something irritating or annoying comes on just hit the shuffle button and it will mix and arrange something else for you on the spot! The quality of the music is fantastic and sounds great through my headphones. One of the standout features of this app is its ability to provide different types of music for different activities. For instance, if you're looking to work out, there's an experience called "Push" that will give you the motivation you need to push through your exercise routine. On the other hand, if you're looking to wind down and get some rest, there's an experience called "Serenity" that is perfect for helping you fall asleep. However, my personal favorite is "Flow," which has lofi hip hop beats similar to the popular "beats to relax/study to" by chilledcow. I found this playlist to be perfect for getting into a flow state when working on a project or studying. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for high-quality, long-form music. Just turn it on and listen!
