### 2/5 — Not good

*2024-03-17, version 3.4.4*

I downloaded to connect to windows but It wasn't compatible with windows. Disappointed. Would like a refund

### 3/5 — Unfortunately wasted money

*2022-11-02*

I’m sure this was a great app Several updates ago but unfortunately my iMac and iPad are too new and not supported (macOS Monterey 12.1) I should’ve done a little more research before buying. This is merely just a warning for anyone else looking in the App Store no hate to this company.

### 1/5 — No

*2022-02-01, version 3.4.4*

I couldn’t setup it. Doesn’t work. Make me refund pls

### 1/5 — My graphics card no longer works with my Mac Pro.

*2022-01-20, version 3.4.4*

Upon installation, I can no longer use the graphics card which was working fine in Mojave.

I had hoped this would be a useful tool, instead it ruined my system.

### 1/5 — Does not work

*2021-11-18, version 3.4.4*

No screen update on the iPad , can’t see windows that you move there. Says it can’t detect pencil..but pointer does move around.
Not fit for purpose!

### 1/5 — Air Display 3 causes MacBook Air to restart. Every single time.

*2021-10-08, version 3.4.4*

UPDATE: My recommendation is to find another way to turn your iPad into a second screen. Developer obviously no longer supporting since Apple released Side at. Customer support always sucked, but now it is non-existent.

### 1/5 — A buggy waste of money

*2021-09-30*

Works like it should maybe 10% of the time. Randomly cuts out, and when the second screen actually does appear on my iPad, the mouse is often invisible. This is despite following the privacy setting recommendations on the online FAQ regarding screen recording permission. Don’t waste your money, this would be great if it works, but most of the time it doesn’t for no discernible reason whatsoever.

### 1/5 — Does not support windows

*2021-08-25, version 3.4.4*

Was not clear that this did not support windows prior to purchase

### 1/5 — I ignored that most of the reviews are one star….

*2021-07-03, version 3.4.4*

1. It asked me to tick a box in Security that did not exist. 2. It would not connect by wi fi. 3. It forgets the monitor placements each time you plug in. 4. Because of 1., it only works with one ipad.

### 1/5 — Buggy. Bad and unreliable software

*2021-05-22, version 3.4.4*

Such buggy and unreliable software. Fails to display cursor often. Crashes. Can’t rely on this. Waste of money. Removed from my iPad.

### 1/5 — App doesn’t appear to be updated any longer.

*2021-04-27, version 3.4.4*

The app isn’t smooth or efficient using newer ipads or Macs.

### 1/5 — Windows 10

*2021-04-26, version 3.4.4*

They don’t explain that Windows 10 isn’t supported.

### 1/5 — iPad, iPen, Mac Book Pro and garbage app

*2021-04-25, version 3.4.4*

iPad, iPen, Mac Book Pro all great alone. This app does nothing to help use them all together. Super frustrating and very disappointing. Total waste of money and time. One star is too high.

### 1/5 — Yeah ... noooo!!

*2021-04-23, version 3.4.4*

This app is garbage.... can’t even open it nor get it to work. Do not buy this!!!

### 4/5 — Air Display works great

*2021-04-16*

Air Display works really well for using my IPad Pro as a monitor for my Mac Mini. Support is good as well when I had a problem after updating my IPad Pro they helped me solve the issue. Hopefully they will have a version that will work with the M1 Macs

### 1/5 — Waste of money

*2021-04-15, version 3.4.4*

I just bought this app. The only reason was to use it in teleprompter (as it is the only app with vertical mirroring for iPad).

Set up was ok (only 2 glitches).

The biggest issue is
- green/red screen blinking (I just tried it with Zoom). Zoom was ok on my laptop (Mb pro 2019), but as only I moved it to iPad - it started blinking.
- lag between what how your camera sees you and what is displayed on iPad = 1 second !!!!! (Disaster and complete waste of money).

I would like my money back ASAP.

### 1/5 — Simply does not work.

*2021-04-08, version 3.4.4*

Tried everything and it simply does not do as was advertised.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Anachronistic app

*2024-11-22, version 3.4.4*

No support for Apple Silicon after half a decade. Website stopped updating copyright after 2022. Completely worthless old app from a different era from a dev who doesn’t give a damn anymore.

### 1/5 — Doesn't work on latest MacOS

*2024-01-21, version 3.4.4*

My MacBook runs Sonoma 14.2.1 and this fails to connect. Also my emails to Avatron tech support were not answered. I don't know if this company is in business any more, they don't seem to update theirvsoftware to keep it compatible with latest OS, so beware.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work with new MacBooks

*2023-11-30, version 3.4.4*

I downloaded this app thinking the reviews looked great. I have a MacBook that is about 2 years old and an iPad that is 5 years old. The app doesn’t work at all and it asks me to connect via a USB which has NOT existed on Macs for five years.

I find it shocking that Apple allows an app this out of date to be sold on the App Store.

### 1/5 — Does not work on new OS

*2023-11-27, version 3.4.4*

App will not work on new iBook pro OS

### 1/5 — Try Something Else

*2023-11-22*

I should have noticed the last review and updates were 3 years ago. Otherwise they will indeed take your money. As for whether the app will work, if it does then you are lucky. If it doesn’t then you’ll be like me. There’s no support or anything remotely close to online resources to help you troubleshoot or fix the problem. 3 years ago they said Apple’s updates were the limitation. But despite doing the necessary permissions the app just doesn’t work. This is a ghost town. Abandoned and uninhabited. I wouldn’t advise. Stay away.
Try Easy Canvas or something more up to date.

### 1/5 — I need a refund. Promptly.

*2023-08-13*

I just got my iPad Air and a MacBook Pro, and I have been trying to figure out how to pair the two together and this is by far the worst application I’ve attempted to set up. Only AFTER I bought the app and had some random “video drivers” downloaded onto my MacBook did I find out that my MacBook isn’t even compatible with this program. So it won’t even work. I would like to say I need a refund, but from the sounds of these other reviews, I don’t believe I will be getting one.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work with M1 Macs

*2023-07-05, version 3.4.4*

Please update or refund.

### 1/5 — Not compatible with M1 Mac

*2022-12-03*

If you search for this app not compatible with M1 Macs is no where to be found unless you dig for it. Complete scam. That should be up front. Contacted costumer support and have not heard anything back. No refund yet. Maybe a good product 2 years ago but if they do not plan on updating to support current apple products why are they acting like they work on current apple products? Waste of money. To be continued.

### 1/5 — Slow evolution

*2022-04-03, version 3.4.4*

Developers take ages to update the app to new operating systems, and most MacOS updates make the airDisplay useless. For M1 users, a chip that has been in the market for over 18 months, all we get is sorry “ intrepid pioneers”, even though there are already a few new generations of the chip.

### 1/5 — Host not compatible with M1 Macs

*2022-02-10, version 3.4.4*

This should be more prominently noted so that people with M1 Macs don’t waste their money buying this product. Has the developer just given up on development to keep up with the “latest” macs? Note that M1 chips have been in use for at least 2 years by now.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Superbly Functional

*2023-04-23, version 3.0.3*

This app works great... Made my iPad 2 a functional 3rd display. Excellent!

### 5/5 — It’s awesome!

*2021-09-27, version 3.4.4*

Using Air Display is one of the best programs to use. You can also use this program as a Teleprompter which is key! Thank you air display!

### 5/5 — Great for teleprompter use!

*2021-06-15*

If you use a teleprompter with an iPad, Air Display is a must. The screen reversing function allows you to project ANYTHING in reversed form (not just text as with other teleprompter apps) and this is a game changer. Customer support was a bit slow but very helpful. My colleagues are eagerly awaiting a Windows version. Thanks, Avatron!

### 5/5 — Highly under-rated app

*2021-02-04, version 3.4.4*

I needed an app that could not only extend my macOS Catalina desktop to an iPad or iPhone, but could also rotate the screen for use with a teleprompter, while connected either wired or wirelessly. To my surprise, Air Display delivered on all fronts.

After some initial issues configuring my Mac Mini’s eGPU-powered displays (macOS defaults to mirroring all displays when a new one is detected) and permissions requests at an odd point in the Air Display Host stalling the process, I quickly solved both problems and Air Display has been rock-solid since.

Air Display is a great app offering unique functionality with its teleprompter mode. I tossed some pretty complex requirements (feed Textual IRC from macOS to a Padcaster teleprompter on iPhone for eye-to-eye Twitch chat interaction with viewers) and it does exactly what I need.

The next job is to see if it can pipe separate apps to an iPad and iPhone at the same time and it looks like Air Display can do that too.

### 5/5 — Fantastic

*2020-12-03, version 3.4.4*

Very useful app. I use it to have my iPad be a second screen in Lightroom, so I can see how the colours will look on the iPad and edit the image without any distractions. Connection is quick and reliable.

### 5/5 — Great App!

*2020-09-01*

Found that the app is an easy setup and works really well in both Mojave and Catalina.
Smooth transition when moving windows from Mac to iPad with scaling to fit display which is superior to other similar apps.

**Developer response:** Thanks for your kind review! If you have any suggestions or other feedback, please let us know at support @ avatron.com —Pip

### 5/5 — Exceptional

*2020-07-02, version 3.4.1*

The app is excellent and the support great. I had teething trouble at first. But Pip was first rate in getting me up and running and even optimising my setup to make my workflow the best. It could be... love it!!!

### 5/5 — Air display 3

*2020-06-24, version 3.4*

I can now use my IPad Pro with my imac remotely.
When installing initially I found that Apple had blocked the software, but this was resolved by going into settings on the iMac and security/privacy,and unblocking it.
I had wonderful support from Pip at avatron.she is worth her weight in gold, and gave me continuous guidance throughout the installation.
I can now have the iPad on my YAMAHA acoustic piano, which is 12 ft away from the iMac, and totally control my Logic Pro 10.5 from it.
This has save me buying yet another 88 note keyboard to sit by my iMac.
Thanks once again to Pip at Avatron for all you help.I am over the moon with the results

### 5/5 — Works as they say

*2020-06-13*

Another old macbook user here, with no access to sidecar for my iPad. This works really well. The wired display is snappier than the wireless, but having wireless is convenient at times. Helpful tech support solved a minor issue. Tip: if you want usb as your main connection, you don’t need to (and shouldn’t) activate “connect automatically.” Use that if you want to connect to WiFi automatically.

### 5/5 — Update: Works with Catalina

*2020-06-09*

When I initially purchased this app, the required mac OS driver would cancel with a “not compatible” error. Months after leaving a bad review, the developer finally reached out and was pleasant. Unfortunately the proposed work around was fairly involved, and I personally did not see it as a legitimate method due to potential risks. I’m happy to see it seems to be up and working great!

**Developer response:** Hi Tony. Thanks for your patience and for the updated review! Cheers. —Pip
