### 3/5 — Good app, but could be better

*2023-08-25*

For starters, I’m not so sure if it’s appropriate for me to give a three-star review to this App, since it does all it’s promised, and for people who are fans of ambient music - myself included - it’s more than satisfactory for the price.

But for musicians and producers, there are some lacking elements, and indicting for that may not be fair given that the Eno apps aren’t explicitly made for their purposes.

Air was the cheapest of those, and because I couldn’t find any technical specs, I gambled and gave it a shot for the price in hopes that I would be able to tell whether I could use the others, and unfortunately, it falls short for producers for a couple of reasons.

The first is lack of IAA or AuV3 support. With one or both of these elements, there would be no doubt of a five-star rating because it would mean that the live sounds could be patched through the universe of iOS effects available in real-time, ensuring the ultimate sonic experience.

But the second issue is that - as far as I can tell - there is no way of capturing the sound other than patching it live to a recording device, which is awkward and needless given the state of recording apps today. Mind you, I stress: the Eno apps are not expressly for those purposes, but I don’t think it would be much of a stretch to add those features.

For those music-makers who do seek ambience-creating apps with IAA support, try Moodscaper, Guitarscaper, Pianoscaper, and Cosm (they don’t work with Audiobus as of this writing; you will need AUM, but you will still be able to patch through FX and record).

### 4/5 — Wow, an update after five years!

*2017-04-21*

Okay, it's nothing earth-shattering, but still - thank you so much for thinking of us supporters from so long ago. Sure, it would be nice to have Audiobus support, or different moods, or ? Perhaps some other day. In the meantime, a little update is much appreciated.

### 3/5 — hmm

*2015-07-08, version 1.3*

great sounds, and reminiscent of "Airports". but in ios8 the note speed setting is invisible. Mine is now stuck playing one note and then going to silence. This badly needs a refresh

### 3/5 — Great but...

*2015-01-30, version 1.3*

Great app like the others ones.

But please!

Update right now to ios 8 and iPhone 6 Plus like with had made with Bloom!

It would be fantastic!

Seems an different App!
To much BETTER!

Thanks,

David.

*2014-04-01*

### 2/5 — Where's the Oxygen?

*2014-01-15*

Kind of limited and banal, though, ironically, it did feel like a pick-me-up, even when you're left wondering when a more innovative sound will extrude.

*2013-02-17*

Apple EarPods with Remote and Mic

### 5/5 — fantastica!

*2012-11-22, version 1.3*

### 5/5 — Beautiful

*2012-10-18*

I'm a fan of all of Eno's apps. This experiment produces very beautiful results.

### 5/5 — Entspannung Pur

*2012-07-22*

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2012-07-03, version 1.3*

Really enjoyable

### 2/5 — Bloom and Trope are better

*2012-02-20*

Less variety in pitches. The piano sound is always one pitch followed by a fifth lower. Limits the variety. And the screen is static.

Eno, who isn't on the credits for this app, should pull it from the Store until Air gets improved.

### 3/5 — not enough variation

*2012-01-26, version 1.2*

Unfortunately I had high hopes for this app. I doesnt have enough variation. I was surprised by how soon I would hear a similar musical phrasing. It is actually kind of repetitive.

### 2/5 — Broken Broken Broken

*2012-01-23, version 1.2*

Although I would think multitasking would be a natural ( ~Listen~ yes?)...it no longer displays properly, and I cannot use it to accompany live poetry readings anymore. POOH CUBED

### 2/5 — Broken

*2011-11-28, version 1.2*

This is my favorite of Eno's generative apps when it works. However, it no longer displays properly with the latest OS. I hope it's fixed soon. I paid good money for this not too long ago.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Another abandoned App

*2017-04-15*

This App like several others ENO + collaborators released aren't maintained and are 32-bit apps. When iOS 11 is released they'll quit working which is sad.

**Developer response:** Good news - an update for Air is imminent, which will make it fully 64 bit. Sorry for the delay, it was written eight years ago and required a substantial rewrite. All other Opal Limited apps have already been updated.

### 1/5 — Time to update

*2014-12-09, version 1.3*

The screen looks awful. Please update!

### 1/5 — Not really an iPad app

*2012-11-03, version 1.3*

You have to use the lame pixel doubler. Deleted. Drone FX is infinitely better IMHO.

### 1/5 — App broken

*2012-01-23, version 1.2*

For some reason, app only displays 3 triangles. I didnt update ios so i dont know what the deal is...

### 1/5 — Not so Hot Air

*2011-07-15*

Loved Bloom and Trope, but this is really poor. Frustrating and limited. No scope for creativity. I would guess Eno didn't want his name on this one. Don't waste your money on thus half formed idea.

### 1/5 — stick with bloom

*2010-09-22, version 0*

yuch, bloom is so much more and so much better.

### 1/5 — È come la farina: doppio zero

*2010-05-15, version 0*

Zero assoluto, noiosa, inutile e costosa

### 1/5 — Permit sleep mode playing, then…

*2009-12-11, version 0*

We need to be able to put the machine to sleep and still listen to the sounds, however compelling the visuals might be. !

### 1/5 — Menudo timo

*2009-10-26, version 0*

### 1/5 — disappointed!!

*2009-10-22*

This app frustrated me so much ive just deleted it and wont be re-installing it.
im all for relaxing music and tunes etc and when i saw the option to listen to the piano i thought it was going to be good.. but it plays 2 notes, literally every 30 secs and everything inbetween is silence! the speed bar does nothing to the gap between notes and i get bored waiting for the next 2 to come along.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Favorite Purely Ambient App

*2026-05-01*

This Brian Eno app is ideal for relaxing — think needing music without needing to focus on songs tracks or albums. It’s infinite. Just turn it on & it goes until you pause it. I EXCLUSIVELY choose to play the piano version without the layered voices. It seems to be more focused. Thanks Opal Limited!!

### 5/5 — Beautiful

*2023-06-07*

"Air" takes the graceful, smooth vocals and pianos of Music for Airports and turns it into a never-ending soundscape that retains the mastery of Brian Eno's original Ambient series. A masterpiece of generative music.

### 5/5 — Music for Airports e' il modello, Air va oltre

*2018-02-15, version 2.0*

For talented listeners!

### 5/5 — Simply beautiful

*2017-05-01*

So impressed and loving the Reflection App decided this was also worth a try. So calming to listen too. Helps me wind down and take away the days stress. Use the sleep function to send me every night into blissful dreamy land of nod.

### 5/5 — Listen on your stereo...

*2016-12-24, version 1.3*

It's a generative Music for Airports and it's a dream...

### 5/5 — Eno's Girgle to Burgle

*2016-11-17, version 1.3*

Ring-ting-ticker, this is my app to-do. Jolly done, you.

### 5/5 — Loved it

*2014-12-05*

It's quite limited compared to Music For Airports. But it is endless and randomic, so it's perfect for relaxing, meditation, insomnia (my case) and things like that.

### 5/5 — Really enjoyable!

*2014-01-13, version 1.3*

A really enjoyable and easy-to-use ambient music generator.
The result you can get is something similar to the final track in Music for Airport… not bad!!
