Now they are on my I-Pad 4) Details!!!! I was initially concerned with the format being limited in size to the I-Pad screen, but the resolution is so good you can zoom right in and look for brush strokes in the pictures of the models It does take a little adjustment for reading ........ I like to zoom in on the text as I read but have to zoom out to see the picture that is being discussed.With hard copy you just scan over to the pictures. I will definitely stay with the electronic format for this magazine. Though it says Airfix, other brands are also covered. Airfix models are also some of the best, low cost models available. Just holding down the splash page for a few seconds refreshes it which prevents any unloaded pages from showing. ### 5/5 — Great magazine *2012-08-17* After reading previous ratings I wasn't sure what to expect but I am very happy with this first purchase for my iPad. The quality is stunning and having everything the magazine has,then good on Airfix for making it available for electronic devices. I used to buy the magazine from WHSmiths but sometimes missed the release date due to work,so am pleased that I can now buy the mag every month regardless. The quality of images and text is just as good as in the mag but having a zoom facility on the iPad really helps to get close into detail shots. It's a good magazine with lots to interest me. I buy the digital download because I don't live near to a Barnes & Noble, the only place in the US who stock it. But the publishers? Last month they decided, who knows why, that the magazine should download a page at a time rather than all in one go. I accepted their new terms and conditions, then their update wiped all my previously bought editions off my iPad. I restored them, re-downloaded them only to find 6 issues which I have to buy again. I'm sick of problems like this. Doesn't anyone test their procedures before deploying them? Or do they just not care? Downloading a page at a time is painfully slow. ### 1/5 — Freezes! *2012-12-01* This worked for a day only - long enough to encourage me to buy two issues of the magazine. Today it stopped working completely. It does not load, just sits on the "loading please wait" screen for about 5 minutes and then crashes. I have deleted the app and redownloaded and reinstalled it a few times now. Reset my iPod Touch, etc. all to no avail. Other magazine apps I have in Newsstand work perfectly but this one is a pig. Come on Pocketmags, this is not good enough and your customers are not happy. Have deleted it. ### 1/5 — Very Poor *2011-12-25* Notwithstanding this is just a scan of the paper magazine with no extra features, the biggest flaws are that it is full of adverts for other magazines in the UI and as of today I cannot the issues I have bought (in this or other apps by the same developer) - very poor! ### 3/5 — ampy *2013-05-01* I like the mag gives me a lot of what I want out of a model mag good info on techniques and products coming up on the market. Good pics and good source of subjects that of interest to us model geeks. As an app a bit disappointing it needs more of the wonderful media things that the platform provide, 360 views and multi media moving instruction for new kits that Airfix are using on there web site, like the video for the mosquito. Now that sort of stuff would impress. ### 3/5 — It's just a magazine.... *2012-01-08* This is just an electronic version of the magazine, which is a little annoying, but I hope Airfix develop it. Pros: (1)The images are of high quality and allow zooming to a good level (2) Layout is nice and clear (3) You get your magazine wherever in the world you are very quickly. Cons: (1) It is just a digital copy of the paper version and no attempt to harness the media value of the iPad, for example 360 degree seamless photos. (2) The in app subscriptions are the same price as the paper version, yet Airfix are saving on paper & shipping costs. All in all, it is a great magazine to read, hence the 3 stars. But Airifx need to improve the content with regard to media to make this a winning app! ### 3/5 — Not loading? *2011-09-26* Downloaded the app but it's not loading, stuck on loading, please wait screen. This one is better than most I digital. Pictures are great but I spend most of my time zooming and panning to be able to see /read the articles.
