I haven’t been able to figure it all out after considerable effort. Contacting the developer seems to be behind one of these accounts too. Incredibly frustrating and completely unnecessary. ### 2/5 — Needs work in my limited knowledge of it *2022-02-24, version 2.12.7* Data should be posted after clicking on a color/area. The indicator on the main screen will be red even though there are no actual restrictions. This is b/c the restricted areas do encroach onto the screen IF the iPhone screen was truly a rectangle. Navigation can be vastly improved. ### 3/5 — Worked really good before but doesn’t want to work now *2020-06-18, version 2.8.2* Went to go use the app, and they completely logged me out. I tried logging back in about 15 times if not more, and each time that App would just glitch out. I even tried resetting my password and the link they sent my email glitches out. Tried going to support and it just sits there loading. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling.. I don’t know what the hell happened to this app because before it was amazing and had everything you could possibly need to fly, but now nothing seems to work.. this needs to be fixed because you have to be signed in to plan a flight or to see any information at all. I guess I’ll have to make another acc. Hopefully this one doesn’t disappear... ### 4/5 — A Must Have for Legal Flight *2020-04-25, version 2.6.10* It’s hard enough to find a place to fly today if you live inside city limits. Using Air Map and getting that authorization shows that you are flying by the rules. Also gives you some backup if stopped by law enforcement. ### 4/5 — Convenient but buggy. *2019-12-16, version 2.6.7* App has issues resolving past and future flights. You must go in and out of the flights screen multiple times to see flight info. Other than that, it’s pretty good. Would be nice it the app included building heights similar to skyward. ### 5/5 — What an improvement! *2019-11-17, version 2.6.6* AirMap makes the process of flying a drone in a controlled airspace so much more straightforward. It is my preferred link to the LAANC system. This is the way that it should have always been. ### 3/5 — Needs more customization *2019-09-13, version 2.6.3* The app is actually fairly good, but needs better customization. For instance, why half hour increments of flight time? The other day, I had very specific minutes to fly due to twilight...I couldn’t schedule the exact time and had to file multiple plans to make due. Also, the app doesn’t register said twilight, so it erroneously flagged my flight as “flying at night”, which was not accurate. And lastly...the app only allows a flight cap of 1,000 feet AGL; And because of a special flight, the building I was filming was a little over that. In this instance, as a part 107 holder, I’m allowed to fly 1,400AGL. The app not only restricted me from entering 1,400 feet, it also couldn’t understand that over 400 feet was allowed...and so, it flagged my flight as being non FAA compliant. Try navigating all that when you’re watching the sun set trying to fill out a flight plan. There goes your precious flight time! ### 5/5 — Use it. It will keep your bacon out of the fire. *2019-08-27, version 2.6.2* A great app for flying and making sure you are safe and in compliance with the surrounding area. Logs your flights as well which is very handy. ### 5/5 — Fast, accurate, and easy to use *2019-08-21, version 2.6.2* I use this app on a daily basis for my work. It is amazing the info and detail that it gives so I can be flyer safer and within the guidelines of the local airspace. ### 4/5 — Five mile radius no longer shows up. *2019-06-24, version 2.5.3* It seems that now it only shows you a radius of one mile around an airport when before it showed the one mile no fly radius and a five mile required notification radius. I’m not sure if the laws changed but the five mile radius was extremely helpful and I don’t know why the would take it away. ### 5/5 — What I’ve needed for a long time *2019-06-16, version 2.5.3* I got my part 107 this past winter and I just found this app, and to be honest I’ve been looking for something like this since last year! It is so helpful at giving you what you need to get an ATC authorization. I saw comments on how it gives you inaccurate weather and that might be true but that shouldn’t be your reason for getting the app, because the whole point of this app is to make ATC authorizations fast and easy and they do that extremely well. Thanks for the help Airmap, your services are going to be very helpful in the furture! ### 5/5 — Your first tool in your drone arsenal! *2019-06-12, version 2.5.3* AirMaps is the first App while planning a mission. It continues to be a great tool in my drone services company. Become an industry standard. Living on the West Coast our National parks, controlled airspace, and airports. I can schedule a flight or get LAANC clearance immediately. It gives me the ceiling height at all class airports. Info about the airport. A “ authorized” or “ unauthorized” to fly. The information and resources this app offers are top-quality! You must use AirMaps! ### 5/5 — IND NOTAM - AIrMap in India *2019-06-11, version 2.5.3* After using AIrMap for almost a year and regularly submitting flight plans before my drone flights in USA , this trip to India I tried AIrMap since flying drones is now legal here. It worked really well , I was getting alerts for nearby air traffic as well as no fly zones clearly marked. While I agree that the map updates would be better if crowdsourced, just wanted to let people know, you can and must use AIrMap or similar app to fly safely in other countries . They are terrible *2022-05-07, version 2.12.11* Historically, Airmap has been hostile to the idea of open skies for drones. They spent over $170,000 a year to lobby for Senator Feinstein’s Drone Federalism Bill which would privatize the first 200 feet of airspace and would have negatively impacted airspace even above that altitude' the DSPA explains. 'They continued this effort lobbying extensively for H.R. 2930, known as the Drone Innovation Act. Then in 2019, Airmap attempted to push through (and almost succeeded) a model rule through the Uniform Law Commission until people in the drone industry pushed back.' ### 1/5 — Has let me down several times! *2021-10-02, version 2.12.4* AirMap, on several occasions, has let me down on commercial drone shoots several times now with the message “AirMap is not able to process FAA Controlled Airspace Authorization request at this time. Please try again soon.” It used to happen every now and then but I’m going on 2 days with the same message every time. Don’t waste your time with it. ### 1/5 — Taxation *2021-06-01, version 2.10.4* Air map is trying to convince the federal government to tax drone operators on man aircraft systems which ever you wanna call it they’re doing their best to have the actions we do taxed so I am deleting air map along with several others on the form that I found out about this I will just use Kitty Hawk for all my needs .So lol air map you really screwed up and we’re get the word out in theWhole drone community. ### 1/5 — Ain’t for the drone community *2021-01-23, version 2.10.2* Over the years, they have showed that they don't always support Part 107 operators. Their response last year to the NPRM was an example of that, where they supported the implementation of Remote ID as proposed. Today, they are proposing take-off and landing fees for UAS which is just outrageous. In terms of the actual app it struggles. Hard to navigate and find information. I would highly suggest the app “Kittyhawk” as a replacement. ### 1/5 — IF YOU WANT TAXES ON ALL YOUR FLIGHTS *2021-01-23, version 2.10.2* This company is so bad for small and medium sized UAS businesses. Their goal is to tax every landing and take off in federally controlled airspace. As a business we already pay our dues to the federal government who controls the national airspace. Also if you’re a HOBBY PILOT, YOU GET TAXED TOO! I’m all for paying for a LAANC and UTM service but to give my info out for FREE, And then be taxed by a city/state and a portion goes to the them. My advice is take your valuable information and money elsewhere. ### 1/5 — Does Not Work For Me *2020-06-19, version 2.8.2* Have my part 107 and have a small drone business. I was very excited when AirMap was introduced. My main clients were in airspace that did not require FAA approval. As I expanded my business into airspace that required FAA approval AirMap would not deliver. I live in the DFW area so I know LAANC is available. I’ve attempted on several occasions to contact AirMap via their feedback but never got a response. I’m now using a competitor and on my first request for a FAA approval it was granted within 45 seconds. I’m sure AirMap work for others but it did not work for me. ### 1/5 — App interface is utterly confusing *2020-04-29, version 2.6.10* In my past career, I worked for a software company translating UI’s. This app is utterly and annoyingly impossible to figure out how to actually use. Every time I’ve had to use it I sit there for 40 mins trying to figure out how to get permission for my flight. Well I’ve been trying to figure this out between AirMap and kittyhawk for 40 mins and ran out of time for the shoot. Can’t figure out how to get approval for flight in air maps and can’t figure out how to actually fly in kittyhawk since the fly button is grayed out with no explanation. Lame. Now I guess I’ll have to come back later. ### 1/5 — Like the idea, but inaccurate and lacking functionality *2018-10-10, version 2.30* I really like the idea of an app to streamline the process of flying a drone. But notifying a control tower via this app is impossible in it’s current state. Today, when trying out the app and notify the tower, the number listed that the app provided connected me to a real estate office. Pretty embarrassing. This would’ve been more embarrassing in front of my clients. Yes, as others have stated this app does not show certain areas, like restricted areas, properly it seems either. ### 1/5 — This app is a joke and the developer is too *2018-08-07, version 2.2.6* Beware! Using this app could get you into serious trouble as a pilot. The app doesn’t display critical information such as TFRs, accurately. I see they’ve removed the digital filing of flights with local airports, which is good because that feature was fraudulent. No ATC I’ve ever talked to had any idea about this system. Furthermore, Airmap is lobbying to restrict an operators ability to conduct business without their permission. In other words, they want to charge drone operators for access to the NAS! They have consistently supported and even helped draft legislation that limits the rights of drone operators all across the US. They are a cancer to the drone industry. ### 1/5 — Please read the reviews! *2018-04-08, version 2.2.1* Airmap supports the Feinstein-LEE legislation that would remove your ability to fly between 0 and 200 feet without dealing with regulation that would differ depending on the local municipality you are flying in. I serve and have flown in a hundred different cities and towns. airmap wants me to have to get different permissions and to have to deal with different regulation in each making themselves invaluable. They are betraying us to line their own pockets. Nice app... bad company... do not support them! ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Awesome app *2023-03-01* After I got my 107 certification 4 years ago I was using this app for my flight plan and atc permissions to fly in class b airspace where needed. Then a year or so ago AirMap was bought or resolved by drone up. I searched for over a year for another app and none even come close for ease of use as AirMap. About a month ago a fellow friend and drone enthusiasts informed me that AirMap was up and going again. I am so thankful and find myself flying more and much more at ease when I fly.
