## What is Airplanes.live?

See every aircraft in the sky — unfiltered.

Airplanes.live is a live flight tracker powered by the community-run airplanes.live receiver network. Unlike other trackers, it shows you everything the network sees: airliners, general aviation, helicopters, and the military and privacy-flagged traffic that other apps remove.

THE MAP
• Live aircraft colored by altitude, with type-specific silhouettes
• Tap any aircraft for photos, route, altitude, speed, and registered owner
• Flight trails, search by callsign / registration / hex
• Light and dark maps, all served from our own infrastructure

WEATHER
• Live NOAA/NWS radar overlay, animated or latest-frame
• See the weather traffic is flying around, in real time

ATC SCOPE MODE
• A radar-scope view with data blocks — callsign, flight level, speed, type
• Convergence alerts between converging aircraft
• Emergency squawk (7500/7600/7700) highlighting

PRO
• Weather radar, advanced filters, unlimited watchlist, and alerts
• Feed data to airplanes.live? Pro is free for feeders.

Aircraft positions come from publicly broadcast ADS-B signals received by a volunteer community. For informational and educational use — not for navigation, separation, or safety-of-life purposes.

## Version history (last 2 releases)

### 1.1 — 2026-08-29

Look up any aircraft, even when it isn't flying. Search a tail number or hex and check the registry for its type, photo, owner, and country, then watch it so you get an alert when it next takes off.

Alerts are easier to reach and far more precise:
- A starred aircraft shows its alert rules right on its card.
- Emergency alerts can be narrowed to within a distance of your places, to countries you choose, or both, instead of the whole planet.
- Type and registry watches: get alerted when any 737, or any Finnish-registered aircraft, enters a place you choose.
- Watching an aircraft that is already in flight no longer sends a false takeoff alert.

Fixes: routes are now checked against the path the aircraft actually flew, so a flight that arrives from somewhere the route doesn't claim is no longer captioned with the wrong origin. Aircraft type falls back to the registry when the feed doesn't carry one. Tapping any alert opens that aircraft.
