## What is AirScope?

AirScope is a plane plotter that retrieves aircraft positions and measurements from online sources and displays them on top of a world map in radar / ATC style.

When flying online with VATSIM or IVAO (or even as preparation for a flight in one of these networks) it's often useful to have an overview of who's in the air at any given moment or which ATC positions are currently filled and online. AirScope shows just that in a stylish universal interface for iOS and macOS devices.

With the ADS-B Interface users can connect AirScope to their local receiver and display traffic data as it's being broadcast. AirScope can connect to a computer with one of these receivers and an instance of dump1090 to recognise messages in SBS (BaseStation) format on a TCP port (default 30003) and plot air traffic on its map. On top of that, with the built-in complimentary cloud based ADS-B, users can see real traffic from various places in the world (anywhere where there's voluntary coverage) even without being there or having a receiver themselves. The ADS-B Interface functionality is enabled and available through an in-app purchase.

The data is retrieved from the online and public info servers of the respective networks (for which an Internet connection is required) at periodic intervals and traffic is plotted accordingly. Tapping on a plane (target) further discloses a tag with additional information about the flight such as its callsign, aircraft type, squawk, flight level, vertical speed, flight stage, course, speed, departure and arrival.

VATSIM and IVAO positions currently online are also plotted / shaped and shown on the map together with their frequencies so that virtual pilots can contact them should they enter their airspace.

Ivao have stopped working since longtime

**Developer response:** Thanks for the review, I think this may have been an outage back then for a few days as IVAO seems to be working fine now (you need version 1.3), so it is difficult to replicate. But should it ever stop working again, which could happen if the API changes for example, please let us know throughout the support page on the web site so we can try and fix it asap.

Seems to be a good solution to display Online-Network data but presently VATSIM data is not displayed. Hopefully it will be fixed in the near future, then I would rate it 5 star!

**Developer response:** Sorry for the delay, but just to clarify, this has been fixed a while back. As VATSIM changed its API there was a short period of malfunctioning but it’s back online.

Before the Ivao Network works very weel. But now the Vatsim Works. But Ivao No, Error in network. I dont ser planes in Ivao

Open ADSB/ADSB exchange data collects Mil data, why is this app not displaying it?

**Developer response:** Apologies for the delay, but better late than never as it will provide info to other readers and clarify it; AirScope doesn’t filter any data so what you see is what others have shared plus what you are able to get from your own ADSB receiver. But it also doesn’t use ADSB exchange as its source, it uses ADSBHub, so data and it published will be different and might explain the differences in what you were observing.

I was looking for an APP which would allow me to monitor other airspace users whilst I was flying commercial drones.  There are plenty of Apps which show you shared ADSB data but I needed something that would merge that data with live data from my own SDR. This APP does this straight out of the box. It appears to be the only one on the APP Store! 

I had a minor dofficulty due to my setup and the Developer responded quickly and comprehensively and solved my problem completely.
