### 2/5 — ⭐⭐

*2026-08-27*

I use Airtasker for my business, and I have to acknowledge that the app is very useful for acquiring new clients. Most of the clients I’ve dealt with have been honest, and the platform has genuinely helped me grow my business, so I definitely wouldn’t say the service is bad.

However, in my experience, there is a serious issue when it comes to protecting Taskers. If a client decides they simply don’t want to pay, they can claim they are unhappy with the service, sometimes without providing any real evidence. Even when the Tasker provides before-and-after photos, the full message history, and clear proof that the work was completed, they can still end up not being paid if the client refuses to release the payment.

This is especially frustrating considering how high the platform fees are. For example, if I make an offer of $150 for a task, I only receive around $120. And the higher the task price, the higher the fee becomes. On a $500 task, around $100 can be taken in platform fees.

When a platform takes such significant commissions from workers, I believe it should also provide meaningful protection in return. There should be a much fairer dispute-resolution system where evidence from both sides is genuinely considered. Protecting customers is obviously important, but protecting Taskers who have actually completed hours of work should be just as important.

A good app for finding clients, but considering the fees being charged, Tasker protection seriously needs to be improved.

**Developer response:** Hi, thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. We're pleased to hear Airtasker has helped you find clients and grow your business.

We understand that payment disputes can be frustrating for Taskers, particularly when you've invested time and resources into completing a task. Our processes are designed to support both Posters and Taskers when concerns arise, and both parties are given the opportunity to provide information about a dispute.

Tasker service fees help support the operation of the platform, including maintaining the marketplace, providing customer support, developing new features, and investing in measures to help keep the platform safe and secure. Our service fees are also tiered, with the percentage generally decreasing as Taskers complete more tasks on Airtasker.

If you have any concerns about a payment dispute or need further assistance, please contact our Support team via the Help Centre at https://support.airtasker.com so they can assist with the next steps.

### 3/5 — Not bad but need improvement

*2026-08-27*

The app itself is useful and has helped me find clients, so this isn’t a one-star review. However, Airtasker seriously needs to improve the way it protects Taskers, not just customers.

I recently completed an automotive job for a customer who then refused to pay. I provided Airtasker with extensive evidence about the work and the dispute. During the situation, I retained the vehicle pending payment, relying on the legal principle of a repairer’s lien. Despite explaining this and providing supporting information, my Airtasker account was restricted.

Eventually, the restriction was lifted because the customer stopped responding to Airtasker. But I still haven’t been paid. So, in practice, the customer received the work, didn’t pay, stopped communicating, and continued with their life — while I was the one who temporarily lost access to the platform and therefore the ability to find new work.

That is where Airtasker needs to improve.

I completely understand having strong guidelines to protect customers, but Taskers also invest their time, labour, materials and sometimes significant amounts of money into completing jobs. There needs to be a much stronger system for protecting workers against customers who simply claim they are unhappy and refuse payment.

Airtasker is a genuinely useful platform, and I will continue using it, but the protection needs to work both ways. Taskers are the people actually providing the services that make the platform function. We deserve proper protection too.

### 3/5 — Good platform, but improvements needed

*2026-08-19, version 26.08.180613*

I’m happy with the amount of work Airtasker provides and believe it can be a valuable platform for small businesses to find new clients and grow.

However, I’m not completely satisfied with some of the rules and dispute processes. At times, it feels like greater protection is given to new clients rather than long-term Taskers who have built a strong history on the platform. I believe more consideration should be given to a Tasker’s experience, completion history and reputation when disputes arise.

Overall, I appreciate the opportunities Airtasker has provided and hope to see the platform continue improving for both clients and long-term Taskers.

### 2/5 — Easy to use and a great result

*2026-08-17, version 26.08.120608*

Really happy with my experience using Airtasker. It was quick and easy to post the job, describe exactly what I needed and receive several offers from experienced Taskers. Being able to compare prices, reviews, completion rates and previous experience made choosing someone straightforward.

The Tasker I chose was excellent and the whole job was organised and completed within a couple of days of posting. The payment process was also simple and I liked that the funds were held securely until the job was completed.

Would definitely use Airtasker again.

### 1/5 — Reece

*2026-08-17, version 26.08.120608*

This app is absolutely horrible probably the worse app design for helping people get work taking hundreds of dollars off people who do the hard work

### 5/5 — Very good task app

*2026-08-16, version 26.08.090026*

Very good for assigning tasks

### 5/5 — Grateful

*2026-08-16, version 26.08.090026*

Very kind and respectful gentleman, Faga paid as soon as the job was completed.

### 1/5 — If you cancel your task you get charged

*2026-08-14, version 26.08.090026*

Someone agreed to take on my task and I assigned it to them. Airtasker then secured my funds, as well as a $19.95 connection fee. The person who agreed to do the task then ghosted me, wouldn't respond at all. But since I was the one to cancel, I get charged the connection fee. This is an unfair practice, be aware.

### 1/5 — An ridiculous app with extremely high and unwanted fees

*2026-08-14, version 26.08.090026*

This app is a joke they have a bunch of taskers who use Ai to generate responses and they have no clue about the work and this ridiculous app charges 10$ just for connecting and the tasker who get the job also has a huge fee .. The worst part is if the tasker doesn’t know the work and the task gets cancelled you won’t get refunded .. I would recommend this app to people who want to donate their money for free

### 2/5 — cancel

*2026-08-13, version 26.08.090026*

if someone cancels a job on you, you will have to pay for it. And there’s no way of getting in contact with anyone everything is automated, and every number goes to ringtone.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Customers are not always right

*2026-08-31, version 26.08.230022*

The review process is against the Tasker. When going to a job where the customer has confirmed that they have the right parts, which turns out to be incorrect. You then Help them and get the correct parts. They try and blame you for wasting their time, when in fact they lied about having the correct parts. A Tasker gives a good review thinking the customer understood, but they give you a negative feedback. And airtasker sides with the customer without knowing the full context. And the fees are too high.

### 1/5 — Run

*2026-08-28, version 26.08.230022*

Predatory fee structure and terrible refund process. The fees were insane and when the tasker failed to complete the job, getting my money back was unnecessary slow and difficult. Instead of just refunding me, airtasker returned the money as “credits” forcing me to go through yet another process to have the money returned to my actual back account…of course this is all minus the $19.95 fee 🙄. They’ve had the last chance off me they’ll ever get, the app is being deleted never to return.

### 1/5 — Competition

*2026-08-27, version 26.08.230022*

Too much competition and too many fee

### 1/5 — Difficult to get Refunds!

*2026-08-27, version 26.08.230022*

I wanted my money back after a tasker ghosted me. Instead of refunding my money, airtasker just gives you credits and makes it very difficult to get your refund! I cannot get a refund via the App, it has to be via a pop up browser that fails authentication. This is shady practice.

### 1/5 — Overall app

*2026-08-23, version 26.08.180613*

Had been booked for a task. The client decided to cancel (Airtasker still takes a fee of what the task is worth $60 for this case), and wanted to blame me. I rejected the cancellation, without any contact at all Airtasker has deemed me to blame.

### 1/5 — Shifty app, shifty taskers

*2026-08-20, version 26.08.180613*

Negative review would be more appropriate for this platform. Tasker smashed the glass door while carrying out the task. Airtasker did not even initiate the refund of the task, and now refusing to cooperate with our insurer for “Tasker’s privacy”. Airtasker claims they’re merely a platform when it suits them, and customers are left to deal with consequences of their negligent taskers. If you need a tradesperson, please just contact a licensed professional with their own personal insurance rather than relying on this negligent platform.

### 1/5 — Moderation

*2026-08-20, version 26.08.180613*

Moderate this 🍆

### 1/5 — Mr

*2026-08-20, version 26.08.180613*

They take too much of the job cost for doing not much. Fees are extremely high

### 1/5 — Expensive

*2026-08-19, version 26.08.180613*

I’ve just used the app for the first time and I didn’t like that I had to post a budget for the job - I would rather have just described the job and have people submit bids.
I ended up paying £150 for the work and an additional £30 fee charged by Airtasker. On top of that fee the tradesman told me that Airtasker would retain 25% of the £150, so he would only get paid 75% of £150. I think these charges are clearly excessive.

### 1/5 — Extremely poor pricing

*2026-08-18, version 26.08.120608*

Don’t bother with this app. The fees are just ridiculous and they have two bites at the cherry, charging a very high “connection fee” to the person searching as well as taking a significant percentage of the payment made to the service provider. Not worth it. Greedy.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Never disappoint

*2026-08-28, version 26.08.230022*

I had this app for over 2 years and I must admit it’s still the best of the best on terms of searching for the best local service from cleaning etc! Hope it continues for long!

Very good idea

### 5/5 — Good app

*2026-08-23, version 26.08.180613*

This task really helpful for people who needed.. im happy to help people around.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2026-08-22, version 26.08.180613*

Easy app to use, fair prices, love how you don’t release payment unless satisfied with the persons job. Had no issues with getting refunds for funds held if a job gets cancelled. Would pay a yearly fee but feel the yearly fee is to high for ppl that don’t use the app heaps. Should be a tier system for membership based on how many times you will use it per year. And capped. Then if you go over you have to pay based on casual use.

### 5/5 — Great

*2026-08-21, version 26.08.180613*

Good app - easy to use

### 5/5 — Fridge deliver

*2026-08-19, version 26.08.180613*

Great work by James

### 5/5 — Easy

*2026-08-17, version 26.08.090026*

Great for annoying jobs
