You can’t even switch between portrait and landscape to get a slightly bigger view. Why change this? Don’t receive my Sunday paper anymore and now have to read new headlines on this unwanted format. Unfortunately, this app developer cannot figure out how to keep your place if you switch to another app then return. If I switch to another iPad app, the AJC app resets to the front page every time. ### 2/5 — Disappointed *2026-01-27* As a longtime reader (40 years!) of the AJC, I am terribly disappointed in the quality and depth of the paper since transitioning from print to digital. I had high hopes that the purely digital edition would be both more timely and robust. Instead, I have noted that the preponderance of coverage is short and shallow, more like the USA Today model. This is extremely disappointing after becoming accustomed to in depth articles which were the paper’s hallmark. After being subjected to a myriad number of reasons from the AJC as to why it made sense to abandon print, the paper has lost its way and become another typical vehicle for those with a short attention span, similar to the commercial network’s nightly news programs. I now am forced to pivot to the NY Times for adequate news coverage along with the PBS News Hour. It’s a sad to see our local paper become a shadow of what it was. ### 1/5 — UNPLEASANT READING EXPERIENCE *2026-01-26, version 600.18* There needs to be more print on the digital screen. The spacing between lines is too thick. It is absolutely maddening to not be able to search for articles I've read before or that someone suggests I read. As an app, it is well organized and easy to navigate, but the lack of a SEARCH function earns it one-star in my book. ### 1/5 — Very frustrating *2026-07-31* The Gold Standard of apps is WSJ. This AJC app is terrible [or maybe it’s their support]! I give up-as a new subscriber and multiple efforts with their support team, I now give up! They simply cannot help me get full screen display on my 13” iPad. The results make reading near impossible plus navigating is a nightmare. They need to trash this app and start over! It is beyond frustrating to not be able to search your articles based on specific search terms. I'd love to read articles about the proliferation of data centers in metro Atlanta, but I'll never know using this app. This is a basic feature. I am no longer able to read the AJC on this app. I now am forced to google the morning paper and select ePaper. This occurred about a week ago! ### 1/5 — Links Don’t Open, No Search, Subscription Doesn’t Work on Web *2026-06-10, version 700.0* This review is for the app/subscription service, not for the quality of the journalism. I have an active paid subscription through Apple and am signed into the same account in both the AJC app and on the AJC website. However, when I try to read articles in a web browser, the website tells me I do not have a subscription. Then, when I tap an AJC article link and choose “Open in AJC News” the app doesn’t open the article I wanted to read and instead it just opens to the app’s homepage. Oh, and there’s no search function in the app. Maybe the app works for reading today’s news, but is completely useless for reading specific articles. Extremely frustrating. ### 1/5 — Very disappointed *2026-06-02, version 500.03.180061341* A reader of almost 63 years, I was glad to see the epaper BUT along with it kept the constant updating of apps leaving a lot of us with devices that could not keep up and update without purchasing new equipment. I can no longer even get the paper without purchasing a new device. I will stop my subscription. ### 1/5 — Inferior eReader is unusable *2026-05-24* AJC is promoting this as an improvement over the AJC eReader app,but it is clearly inferior. Basic usability features are just not there. The biggest issue is that if I switch to another app for a few minutes and come back, the app forgets my location and I have to find the page I was on to resume reading. Another issue is less of the screen is dedicated to the newspaper page, because more space is consumed by ads and navigation. I already pay for the newspaper, the newspaper contains ads, and then you clutter up the ePaper with more ads. Get real. In my crazy busy days, it is her feed that gets my attention every day. I love her quick immersion in humor before her “let’s get to it”. AJ helped the story of Black Gospel Music come alive for me in her feature today. I do not know all of the vocalists she named, but I can tell the music touched her soul. The way AJ writes is what great journalism is all about. There is nothing I love more than a good storyteller. Way to go, AJ! All too often, the digital subscription denies that I am a subscriber and then will not allow me to log in. The query ability is impossible. I asked for the baseball score between then Yankees and Blue Jays and one response came up with no results. It did give me the score for another baseball game in 2024! Explain that one. ### 5/5 — Love the AJC! Informed and Involved! *2025-08-06* Ever since I subscribed to the AJC, I’ve felt so much more involved with my local community and state community at large. I am more informed with what’s happening on the local level, state level, and beyond. It also makes the news feel more personal, reading stories that happened in my city or in a city nearby. I’d also highly recommend their podcast Politically Georgia which they offer for free on streaming services. I listen to that podcast everyday on the way to work, and I feel more informed and involved because of it. ### 5/5 — Great newspaper *2025-07-30, version 600.17* Investigative journalism is a key component in a good newspaper. Simple news is about car wrecks, or leaking water pipes, or murders. And news items are important, of course. But the AJC continues to offer stories that tell readers WHY things happened.
