What I do know is that during setup they request always on location services. I don’t know how this company stores user location data or if they sell it to supplement the bottom line or maybe they protect it. Who cares, I don’t need another company tracking my every move. They charged my card after canceling A YEAR AGO, and I am unable to cancel my subscription and receive a refund through the app (website as well) due to glitches or bugs that make it seem like the app is crashing? It shows it under my plan but the app will not allow me to add more than one phone. Frustrating ### 5/5 — Great app and service *2024-01-19* The AKKO app is really straightforward, tidy, and super user-friendly. Be sure to take a look at the instructions to smoothly add your device photos. The coverage is really strong and customer service is top-notch. I will definitely recommend it to my family and friends! ### 5/5 — AKKO made my life so much easiest *2024-01-19* AKKO insurance saved me from spending an arm and a leg on more expensive insurance and got my device back to me in half the time. The setup process was super simple and filing a claim took literally minutes. Says 2 other newly added items need verified. Customer service says if I did not receive an email from them I do not have to do anything. They say 24 to 48 hours and items will be verified. Its been a month. App is not working as expected and customer service is not addressing the problem. Buyer beware. If it’s not verified I am going to guess they will refuse any claims. ### 1/5 — Outright false store listing *2026-02-02, version 1.31.0* App page says it does not collect *any* information which obviously could never be true but is deliberately misleading and false. App collects device identifiers, requires you to take photos with the phone itself, and for loss protection requests and collects persistent location information. ### 1/5 — App rarely works *2025-12-09, version 1.30.14* App is updated. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled. Can’t get past the loading screen. Worked great when I registered and paid. Requires pictures of each device front and back, serial numbers, police reports for lost/stolen (police don’t issue reports for lost items) if you don’t upload the pics exactly as they like you get denied. ### 1/5 — Claims *2025-08-26, version 1.30.1* Don’t add this insurance. The waste of time and money. And nothing done.. ### 1/5 — Unhelpful *2025-07-22* Akko likes to take all your money and make claims take too long and complicated till the point you have to pay out of pocket for a repair and then they do not refund you. Also when canceling a subscription they will force you to pay for the next billing period instead of allowing you to cancel it immediately. I have had akko for a year. I have paid $10 a month and have had two broken devices. The couple claims I’ve had have gone smoothly also. Well, i had a crappy accident with my Canon lens while working which resulted in damages near $600. After filing a claim, I provided all the requested information and a receipt once the repair was complete. I paid a small deductible and they covered the rest! Yes! So worth it.
