I did discover that I can Favorite a talk on the website, but I see no way to do that in the app. In Library > Downloads it says to click the Download Icon to download a track. Where is the icon? No easy way to see what is played or unplayed. *2026-06-01, version 9.27.2* The only functionality that shows played versus unplayed is buried within a submenu of each episode. It’s frustrating. I can’t tell what I’ve listened to or missed. This is basic functionality of any good podcast app. I agree with many other negative reviews. It is unethical to charge a subscription when there will never be new content aside from the occasional In the Way episode, which are all free. It’s a greedy pricing model for a mediocre experience. You can listen to almost all of this on YouTube for free. ### 1/5 — Capitalism at its finest *2026-02-12, version 9.27.1* Can’t listen to anything without paying a subscription fee. This man blesses us with all this knowledge and information, and you guys put it all behind a fancy app with a paywall. It’s actually kind of ironic in a way. Very similar to the Bob Ross case, taking other people’s work and making money off of it. Now $49.99/year? For what? I purchased the complete set in August of 2020 and no longer have any access to it. This is rather upsetting. I do see it’s a different app developer, but if there was some complications with copyrights, please clarify. The logo looks similar to the old collection, so I am assuming it is still the same owner. Bummer it is locked behind a subscription service. ### 1/5 — WHAT HAPPENED TO WHAT I PAID FOR? *2024-07-30, version 8.600.1* Back in 2014 I paid for the Premium Bundle of Alan Watts Essential Lectures and was sold to me as a lifetime purchase. Now you remove it from the App Store and put everything behind a paywall? ### 2/5 — Change it back! *2025-03-24, version 9.27.0* I am very disappointed with the upgrade of this app. The colourised television series which I very much enjoyed and watched regularly has been removed. It also now only plays one talk at a time and does not automatically play the next one in the series. There is no way to make your own favourites playlist. The app stops working when my phone lock is on so bedtime listening has stopped now. There is so much less on this new app than before and I no longer find it user friendly. Not worth my £4.99 per month if I can’t use it as I need to. Very disappointing and upsetting as it was a lifeline for me 😢 ### 3/5 — I think it’s a good start *2025-12-13, version 9.27.1* However this app is missing important features such as being able to *clearly* see within the UI which episodes I have played and which I have not played. There is a method to check, but it is obtuse and missing important UI cues. It’s ironic that they called this out in the most recent update — being able to see what is played and unplayed. It doesn’t work well. The design is poor. You also need a queue. Why can’t I add and remove episodes from a queue? I think not-investing in this app is a mistake. Look at how much fake Alan Watts content is blowing up on YouTube. ### 3/5 — No Customer Support? *2025-08-15* I love Alan Watts and really enjoyed the app until they made the update a few months ago. Had issues regaining access to my account so I emailed them and reached out on social media and never received a reply. I have already listened to is absolutely amazing! I also just noticed that in the “library“ section you can see which recordings you listened to on certain dates. There is so much content, so it used to be easy to get confused about what you’ve listened to and coming back to what you really like. I also live in a small country town with very little cell phone reception, so it’s really nice to be able to download episodes before I go on a drive or a walk when I want to listen to these. Now, in the age of AI, it’s becoming more and more difficult to find genuine Alan Wats content online, so it feels good to know that these are all genuine recordings of his original content, thank you! ### 5/5 — So happy its here *2025-10-22* Pleasure to support this, guaranteed non-AI Alan Watts.
