## What is Alara?

Plug in. Wake the reactor.

ALARA builds a monstrous sound beneath and above your notes: sub octaves, an upper octave, a driven voice at the original pitch, crackling reactor noise and reverb that grows with the heat. Play harder and the core gets restless. Let a note hang and listen to it cool.

QUESTIONABLE CONTAINMENT. MORE CONTROL.
• RODS — set reaction speed, from slow heating and cooling to a rapid response.
• HALF-LIFE — set how long heat stays between notes.
• SHIELD — control upper-octave distortion and wandering pitch. Turn fully left to disable that voice.
• FLUX — set the reverb introduced as heat rises.
• MIX — blend untouched input with the complete reactor sound.
• FLOW — balance octaves against the original guitar within the processed sound.

PROMPT CRITICAL
Heat brings in octaves, input drive, reverb and upper-octave drift in stages. Push the reaction toward chaos, then pull it back. Plasma twists through the chamber and tendrils escape the enclosure. As heat rises, the sky turns crimson, shadow arms move through the clouds, and storm light reflects across the power station.

HOLD TO SCRAM
Tap the footswitch to bypass. Hold it to collapse the reaction, then release to recover. Tap the body for a reactor excursion. Switch the Geiger sound on when the room needs to feel less safe.

PLAY IT YOUR WAY
Use the standalone app with an audio interface, or load the AUv3 effect in a compatible Audio Unit host. Mono and stereo inputs are supported. One purchase covers Mac, iPad and iPhone.

The standalone starts muted to prevent feedback. Use headphones or an appropriate instrument monitoring setup, then enable the input.

No account. No subscriptions. No actual fissile material.

## Version history (last 2 releases)

### 1.0.1 — 2026-10-30

Reworked the reactor sound for clearer low octaves, stronger impact and a more gradual rise into chaos. Heat now introduces octaves, input drive, reverb and upper-octave drift in stages. Expanded RODS response, added FLOW and wet/dry MIX control, and reduced high-heat noise.

### 1.0.0 — 2026-10-30

No release notes.
