Alaska Fishtopia has all the information I used to search for in one place. You can get the weather, tides, fish counts, and more all in one application. There have been several updates to the app and it seems like it is always getting better. For the price, this app is well worth it. I highly recommend this app for all those anglers that spend countless hours jumping from site to site just to figure out where and when to hit the water. Get AlaskaFishTopia and buy yourself more time on the water. ### 5/5 — Perfect *2018-11-30* My fishing guide this summer told me about this app, how he uses it exclusively to plan his excursions and catch fish for his clients. I ended up downloading it myself and going out on my own, without a guides help .... and .... we caught our limits within an hour! Great information for all levels of anglers. One stop shop for fishing in Alaska. I highly recommend you download and use the next time you’re fishing in Alaska! ### 5/5 — Off the Hook ! *2018-11-29* This app is so cool. As a first time visitor to Alaska this app tells me where to go, what to fish - what’s hot and what’s not. It even lets me plan my day or weekend AFTER my fishing day. I have become so weary of asking people where to fish, what to fish with and where to eat. Those referrals go no where. This app had everything I needed to become successful. Off the hook ! ### 5/5 — Required app for Alaska fishermen and women! *2018-11-29* I have watched this app evolve from a small app with a couple cool features to one with so many helpful and informative areas I would recommend it to all Alaskan anglers. I especially like the daily catch photos and the daily and cumulative fish counts. Ability to store your license on the app as well as the fishing reports is unique as are most features on this app. Most of all I appreciate the rapid growth and power this app is currently undergoing! I have had to navigate between many sites to get the information I need like tides, weather, marine weather, currents, etc. this app brings it all together in one location. AND you can even find out what’s happening around town in the evenings. Want to plan a trip? Post your details like when and where, how many in your group, what you want to pay, etc and the app will expose this to over 1,000 licensed guides around the area. The guides can also post available seats on trips they haven’t filled. If you fish Southern Alaska this app is a no brainer. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — N0 2025 counts *2025-07-09, version 9.0.52* no longer works ### 1/5 — What’s the point *2025-06-03* There’s really nothing special about this app, not sure how people pay $10 a year for information that you can find within 10 seconds on google. It’s basically just a reg book with tides and fish counts. Cool idea, but should include a lot more information if you’re going to charge for it. ### 1/5 — Great app but evidently it’s no longer supported by the creator *2023-05-09* I enjoyed using the app last year but unfortunately it appears that it’s no longer being updated . The regulations are from 2022 and the weather page has not changed since January 9 of 2023. Last year I would’ve given it five stars. I understand it takes a lot of work to keep this app up to date. Once I registered an account and tried to use it though- no dice. The app just cycles but won’t open. I sent a message for help but got no answer. I’ve always loved the app but recent updates have made it faster and even more informative than before. Fishtopia has gathered all the information you need, regardless of your experience level, to enjoy a successful fishing trip for any fishable species in Alaska: up to date tide charts and fish counts, fishing techniques, necessary equipment, regulations, daily advisories and more. Especially helpful for the novice is the Fish Info section which takes the guesswork out of equipment purchases and offers tips and tricks for best fishing practices. For the experienced, you can efficiently target your favorite fishing spots and easily access all the data you need to plan your outing. Having all this useful and important information in the palm of my hand is priceless; and until I found this app I could at best just piecemeal some of this info together. Knowing the marine weather and the conditions at buoys, not to mention the up to date fish counts is a dream. Though I haven’t used it yet, the Fish Exchange is a novel concept for putting together last-minute excursions.
