I use it to watch the Anchorage news but the app doesn’t make it easy. It isually will not resume streaming after commercials, requiring one to guess when the ads are over and restart the app to get back to programming. It often will switch from the program you to one of their other features. And every time, you have to sit through the Peoplemover ad. It’s frustrating to use. ### 2/5 — Update *2026-03-22, version 3.0.2* This app used to be awesome ### 2/5 — Station and app changed *2026-03-10, version 3.0.1* Along with all the new hires and changes in the news and whether team, they also changed an app that was working pretty well. Now I can no longer watch the news on my schedule. Hulu charges an exorbitant amount for live tv. Guess I’ll leave TV news and go back to the newspaper. ### 1/5 — Disappointing update *2026-03-10, version 3.0.1* Can’t get rid of the notification bubble! Even deleted the app and reinstalled- no luck. Same stories just repeated on 8 different pages. Hard to tell what is recent. One article had a video linked to it that had nothing to do with what I was reading. And the flipping advertisements, holy cow! I also don’t like the ads in the middle. Sure there’s coverage of actual stories. But EVERY bit of coverage is flawed by biased reporters. FUKTUU ### 2/5 — Slightly Bias but Good Volume of Articles *2025-02-14, version 2.0.17* I do enjoy the mix of local and National news coverage. The high speed at which breaking news is released is also very nice. One down side, however, is the undertone of political viewpoint seems always skewed in the direction that nascar drivers turn (<—), not balanced. Hope this can change in the future to show both sides, and more viewpoints. The weather link doesn’t open, and scrolling through the list just opens advertisements! Why did AK News Source change to this? It’s clunky and looks like a cheap website or blog with paid advertising everywhere. Unwanted and unexpected ads and sounds pop up. Notification number next to app icon that you can never manage to turn off. I like my phone apps clean of those notification numbers. This bothers me the most. Really clunky app in general. Almost thought of deleting app but we don’t have too many options in Alaska for local news. I hope and pray it starts working again. Only pop up is a banner when opening the app and it clears quickly, I get the news I need, weather, and so on with no interruptions.
