### 3/5 — It has it’s uses but wait times are not accurate

*2024-05-27, version 4.4.0*

The app itself offers a lot of basic information and provides sufficient answers and resources related to what one would expect but we just drove 40 minutes to one of the facilities based on the wait time shown only to be told that it’s actually 3 or 4 times the wait. More than obvious that wait times are based on so many different factors, so maybe those should be considered.

AHC itself and its leadership hasn’t improved in years but needs to before it’s too late

### 1/5 — Not accurate at all

*2022-01-03, version 3.0.11*

What is the point of looking at wait times when they are no where near to the actual wait time? You look at it and it says 30 mins. But the hospital tells you 4 hours?! Get more realistic in what you report to people.

### 1/5 — An absolute waste of time.

*2021-10-12, version 2.0.9*

It deserves no stars at all! Simpler to just use Google. It likely just uses Google to get its information anyway.

### 3/5 — Would have given more stars

*2021-08-27, version 2.0.9*

I used the app and I thought it was working great till it charged me 2 separate times for me to extend. It was only supposed to charge me $2.50 the second time. Instead it charged me $9 + $11.25. There is no number to call

### 1/5 — React Native Trash?

*2020-03-20, version 2.0.9*

The old app felt like iOS 5 and hadn’t been updated. I have no idea how this version was ever approved.

It doesn’t fill the screen of my device correctly. You can swipe back through every screen. The tab bar doesn’t work correctly.

AHS should have continually updated what they had instead of rewriting it so that it’s worse than a web page.

### 1/5 — It looks like iOS 6 on iPhone 4

*2019-05-25, version 1.5.3*

Seriously, step this up.

### 1/5 — Garbage

*2019-04-23, version 1.5.3*

When to go to app it only shows Calgary, not everyone lives in Calgary. When you do find hospital that’s local you can not save as default. It defaults back to Calgary therefore I give it a fail.

### 1/5 — Not accurate at all

*2019-01-30, version 1.5.3*

So far we’re at 3X the estimated wait time. And of course everyone moves like a bunch of sloths. What a joke.

### 2/5 — Neglected

*2018-11-28, version 1.5.3*

Last update was 9months ago yet they have been promising more features like paying for parking and alerts when meter is running low but still nothing. Emergency wait time is nice but ultimately depends on triage how long or little you wait. Nice idea but half baked. Lots of potential.

### 1/5 — Wait times broken for months

*2017-04-04, version 1.5.1*

Really wish they would fix this

### 4/5 — Emergency wait times

*2016-08-21, version 1.5.1*

Having access to estimated emergency centre wait times is fantastic.

### 1/5 — Seriously...

*2016-06-04, version 1.5.1*

When are we going to get an electronic health record? I would really like to see results of blood tests, immunization records, prescribed drugs, etc. Please bring Albertan's into the modern age and give us access to our health records so we have the tools to better manage our own health.

### 3/5 — The things we'd like

*2016-05-09, version 1.5.1*

New information after doctors visits to populate the app. A record of referrals, the referred doctors name and address, name of primary contact, actual times you are likely to find a human on the phone.

Results of specialists tests. A record of blood, blood pressure tests all in one place.

A page that shows kids tests, where they fit in trajectories for heights, weight, head circumference, etc.

A record of birth/preemie occurrences, doctors involved, where medical records, any significant cts, mri's, are kept.

Records of immunizations. Reminders when it's time to go back

A reference page for parents with questions. Have detailed instructions about daycare illnesses. When they need to see a doc vs riding it out.

Perhaps a specialty page on individual apps with advice specific to your families cluster of needs, ie, sensory processing disorder, autism, Fasd, heart diesease, food allergies, etc.

A trajectory of care, next steps. Sort like you see in critical care rooms. If client has (a) then follow this line. If client has (b) follow this line. Then play out scenario to give us an idea of next steps and to enhance our conversations with physicians.

Sort this info by family member.

A record of clinic/emerge visits for kids

Meds everyone is on

Health conditions they deal with so you don't have to repeatedly say the same thing in front of your frightened kids.

I envision the app adding a new page as you take a new member to physician. Name, ahs #, current ht/wt, etc.
Then the page populates in reverse order as all info is pulled from data bases and applied to the families app.

Initially this would be a huge job. Soon though. It would only be done as new babies are born and new immigrants are brought into the health system.

In the meantime, families feel informed, empowered, cared for and a huge amount of paper work is eliminated.

Every patient then has the ability to present a coherent history to any physician they encounter, even if emergency situation far from home or loved ones.

The security personnel will need to figure out privacy concerns, obviously. But to undertake this project and not fulfill its abilities is a waste of all of our time and money.

Good luck. Thanks for letting me have my say.

### 4/5 — Works well

*2015-06-08, version 1.3.7*

Not perfect, but what estimation is? Gives you a good idea of how long the wait is.

### 3/5 — Nice app but you need to add a step

*2015-05-17, version 1.3.7*

This app is pretty good but initially it doesn't show any wait times unless you tap the little map in the lower left corner. It will then ask you to select Calgary or Edmonton region, then the wait times appear. It links to Google maps which is handy if you're not sure where the hospital is located. Overall, the app can be handy, especially if you're not in your home city. Imprecise wait times are not because of the app, it's because triage at hospitals is a moving target, regardless of which hospital. That's life.

### 1/5 — SAD, SAD ALBERTA

*2015-03-07, version 1.3.7*

Great to see the Alberta health care continues to squander our money once again. Wait times are non existent anymore? Or maybe it's to cover up the fact that the wait times in Alberta are at a critical high and best not to leave any evidence of such! Canadian government fails at everything!!!!

### 1/5 — Internet services

*2015-02-07, version 1.3.7*

Just like their website, this APP stinks! Someone is getting paid a lot of our money to make these sites useless. Shame on you AHS!!!

### 1/5 — No times!

*2015-01-07, version 1.3.7*

Doesn't display any times on IOS 8!

### 1/5 — Becoming Useless

*2014-09-15, version 1.3.6*

I used to love this app but not so much anymore. Wait Times are always unavailable and it is very hard to find services locally. It very discouraging to click on a topic only to find that it isn't offered nearby. Needs the ability to filter services by location not just by subject.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Payment

*2026-05-04, version 5.0.1*

Can I use my debit card to pay? I don’t have a credit card.

### 1/5 — Poor timing

*2026-03-21, version 5.0.1*

Whatever waiting time it tell’s you increase that by 3-4 times . Very freaking inaccurate

### 1/5 — Inaccurate

*2026-02-26, version 5.0.1*

If the estimated waiting times are completely unreliable, why bother?

### 1/5 — “This app has been designed…”

*2025-10-13, version 5.0.1*

There doesn’t seem to be any design either developmentally or on UX here. The choices in this app appear to be what was technically easy to implement and maintain, without an understanding of PEOPLE – not AHS employees or politicians – who need it.

### 1/5 — Useless App

*2024-09-23, version 5.0.1*

Actually gives very little information. Information that can be found by Googling it. Garbage😡

### 1/5 — Useless

*2023-06-20, version 4.1.0*

When making this app complicated and useless?

### 1/5 — What a joke.

*2023-02-17, version 4.1.0*

I’d have this app 0 stars if possible. Glad to see tax dollars well spent.

### 1/5 — This is just a joke

*2022-12-14, version 4.0.4*

This is just a joke to call this “an app” in 2022. Make it useful good working app and add a connection to Apple Health. Those guys already know how to manage it in the best way, so just give me an option to put my data in there.

### 1/5 — Waist of time

*2022-06-10, version 3.1.2*

I downloaded it and it doesn’t even open

### 1/5 — Wont even load.

*2022-01-17, version 3.0.11*

Sad 😞

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Abuse of Services

*2019-05-10, version 1.5.3*

My husband has a device in his chest that pumps in the place of his heart because his natural heart cannot pump properly. When there is an issue with his pump, it is a true emergency, since without immediate help he would die. The emergency system always works for us and he does not have to wait for hours to be seen.
What I am fed up with is the number of folks I see in emergency waiting rooms who are non emergent and should be going into a walk-in or urgent care clinic There was a couple recently whose child had cut his finger. The mother showed me the cut and I have to say I was appalled that she would take him to emergency when a clinic could easily have taken care of it. I asked her if she had considered a walk-in clinic and she told me the hospital was closer, all the while she and her husband complained about the wait!

### 5/5 — Super slick

*2014-01-23, version 1.3.5*

Thanks! Use this app a lot to check on wait times. :)

### 5/5 — Essential!

*2014-01-23, version 1.3.5*

I use this app every time anyone in our family is destined for the hospital. Always nice to cut down on time spent in the waiting rooms!

### 5/5 — ❤️AWESOME AND VITAL APP❤️‼️

*2014-01-23, version 1.3.5*

This is a GREAT APP❤️‼️ A 'MUST HAVE' for ANY parent! And well........ just EVERYONE‼️ 😊❤️ It is essential to have as all the important numbers/contacts/programs are all at your fingertips at a moments notice! It also gives you the 'approximate' wait times at the local hospitals which is absolutely great too! It gives you a rough idea how long the wait time is at any given local hospital and gives you the opportunity to know which one is the best bet to get in sooner (when you're in a lot of pain or in a very serious emergency situation, every micro-second counts!). Very, VERY valuable App for any iPhone user! Well, any human who knows how to work a cellphone! It is very 'User-Friendly' so to navigate within the App is very easy & quick. A definite 'Must Have'‼️ I do have one suggestion to the Developers tho, if possible, it would be great if you could add a 'search' bar in the 'programs' contact directory, it would make it a lot easier to go thru all the hundreds of programs 😊 I know I would L❤️VE it!😊
Thank you sooooo much for developing such a great & important App! AWESOME & VITAL App! 😊😊😊😊❤️‼️

### 5/5 — Great app hope I never need it!

*2012-08-04, version 1.1*

If I ever do need the emergency room and I don't need an EMS I'll check this out.

### 5/5 — Works well

*2012-06-20, version 1.1*

Great app

### 5/5 — Surprisingly accurate.

*2012-06-10, version 1.1*

Great app. It said 'Wait times unavailable' for about 15 seconds before it loaded. Other than that, the app is awesome. Both times I visited the ER in Edmonton, wait times were very accurate.

### 5/5 — Great app and glad they have added Edmonton.

*2012-06-06, version 1.1*

Great app and easy to use. Hear they will be adding all the emergency departments over the next year. Lots of good info.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2012-06-06, version 1.1*

Easy to use app. Very helpful. Glad to see Edmonton added.

### 5/5 — Edmonton -the capital of alberta?

*2012-03-22*

Very useful app.
If you live in Calgary.
I have deleted it and will wait till it is available for Edmonton (the capital of Alberta).
