It keeps flipping back and forth. My wife is so frustrated she now refuses to use the app and doesn’t want to renew our subscription>. we use apple ipads. i have the larger ipad and have been able to work around bugs but wife has smaller ipad and continuously has issues…getting error notices and taking her back unexpectantly to beginning of paper. Files are huge at 80MB, using up data and storage space. If my screen times out the app restarts from scratch and loses my place. Reading in full screen mode is now obscured by page navigation blocks on the sides. It does not scroll diagonally very well. Hard to read comics. Very buggy. Needs major work. It was easy to pan and zoom the reproductions of the pages from the paper. If I briefly left the app then returned, it would still be on the page I left it on. I never had any problems with getting logged out whenever I changed networks. Now it’s just the opposite and it has become unnecessary strenuous to read my local paper. It is a travesty this obviously bug-ridden update was even written at all. Maybe the Journal thinks they can get away with this being the only game in town. It is abominable, and whoever “designed” the updated version should be shown the door. There are too many cutesy features that keep it from looking and working like a more classic newspaper. Sometimes, things aren’t broke and don’t need fixin’… ### 1/5 — Too Many Bugs *2025-12-20, version 6.0.0* App bonks out: Can’t move the page or close it out. Must exit page and app entirely, access the paper in the app and it goes back to the first page over and over each time. Another glitch, you can’t click once or twice to get a full page mode. It always comes up on the screen off the one side or another, requiring more juggling around to get to full page mode. Also, when I click the back arrow, it won’t go back in pages, only forward in pages. Then why even have a back arrow option????? It takes me so much longer to read the paper with this ridiculous app. I’m actually relieved the Abq Journal is having less and less content, makes reading online less frustrating. Please fix the glitches, soon. ### 1/5 — New app unusable on an iPad *2025-12-19, version 6.0.0* After several days of working with the new app, it is too much trouble to try to get the newspaper That is in any reasonable shape, I have reached out to the Albuquerque Journal and date have found no help. ### 1/5 — Difficult to use. *2025-12-18, version 6.0.0* I prefer the electronic version that replicates the print edition. This is not fully available on the app. So far, I am finding it easier to read the E edition in my browser rather than on the app. I no longer have a choice when using an iPad to hold the tablet, horizontally or vertically.I am also finding that the print is smaller and less distinct, so for nearly every story I have to tap it to get the tax version instead of reading it off the full page. ### 1/5 — Too Small and will not keep me signed in *2025-12-17, version 6.0.0* Everything is too small now. No functionality to settings, can’t look at past editions. Have tried in-app and browser options - neither functional. Scrolling articles is jerky, can’t focus in like I could before. Read on iPad and chose that option (when option accidentally popped up) and functionality got worse - screen went black. Compared to eJ on laptop where it was working entirely different, and options worked. The transition is anything but seamless when using the app. Each time I try to read the Journal, I have to login and reset. When it does ‘work’, it is hard to navigate. I keep setting page view preferences and they randomly change to a different view, sometimes in a single session. Get that one and forget this one ever existed. ### 1/5 — Production *2026-01-21, version 6.0.0* It would seem that when your job is to put out the paper everyday you would have a quality control plan in place to review what you produce. No need to proof read just review to make sure the paper is complete. If the paper was only screwed once every 6 months it would be acceptable but every day is an adventure when I try to download. Well at least Garcia automotive should be happy they always get one or two ads in what ever you produce. I wrote this months ago and it just gets worse. Today can’t get the ejournal sends me to resign in but won’t accept my password. I read the journal for the local news and sports as I have for over 50 years but like so many others I know we are considering canceling or subscription. ### 1/5 — Horrible new app *2026-01-20, version 6.0.0* It routinely fails to load the current edition and the user interface is much, much worse. It helps inform without overwhelming. It is arranged in a visually appealing format, with large photos; and many articles come with an easy to access grouping of photos. The content seems very non-biased, non-partisan. So important these days. Many human interest stories along with the standard news we all need.
