Alek is the latest in speech assistance/AAC technology - it helps users talk faster with less effort.

Alek uses the latest in artificial intelligence to listen to your conversations and suggest how you can respond. Over time it gets to know you and how you like to communicate, and thus improving its suggestions. 

With Alek, you can save phrases and speak instantly:
 - Quick-access phrases for instant speech
 - Organize and customize your saved phrases
 - Use AI to generate multiple phrases at once, tailored to your needs

You can also get AI generated suggestions for any conversation:
 - AI-powered suggestions save time and effort
 - Context-aware responses feel natural and relevant

Finally, the app and the layout are highly customisable:

We have recently updated Alek to better handle user sessions so users should have to log in much less frequently. This version also includes the ability to receive updates much more quickly, so users can be sure they are benefiting from the latest features and bug fixes.

- Support for smaller screens, including iPhone, and operating in both portrait and landscape mode
- A new button when generating suggestions - "Explain Suggestions" - which provides a user with insight as to why Alek suggested what it did
- A new button in the background editor to allow the user to access the background questionnaire to assist with creating background facts

Changed:
- Acapela voices and custom ElevenLabs voices will now appear in the "Your personal voices" section of the voice selection screen

The voice selection system has been overhauled to support custom voices, and some users may have to re-select their preferred voice from the voice settings screen.

Changed:
- Sign-in component now has handling for errors that might occur during authentication. Previously, a failed login would cause the component to show loading indefinitely. Now if an error is detected, the page will show error details and allow the user to attempt the login again.
- Installed Acapela voices will now appear at the top of the voice selection screen

Fixed:
- Wait for the AppState to be active before attempting to perform the login redirect. This is to address an issue that occurs in review when the redirect is attempted before the app is completely in the foreground.
- Unable to preview voices or play text-to-speech audio on older iPhones
