It doesn’t show up when I try to connect to the bluetooth and I’ve reached out to customer service by email more times than I can count and still getting NOTHING. The service needs to be improved, you’re not dealing with a toy error. Epilepsy is real and what’s the use of paying for a service I can’t use nor get the proper help for. It’s suppose to inform caregivers of a seizure to get you help, how can it be done if it can’t be connected and customer service by phone and email takes days to get back to you. ### 3/5 — Hate wearing it, but I gotta *2024-02-08, version 4.3.5* It works incredibly well in rest mode, sometimes I will be drying my hands too fast and it will go off. Very fun. My biggest complaint is that sometimes I dont get the prompt to cancel the alert, so I get an immediate phone call from my parents because I cannot stop it. It's incredibly inconvient to me and terrifying for my parents. I don't know if it is just me or the app, but I need it to not do that. ### 3/5 — No updates for 3 years... *2024-01-15, version 4.3.5* Disappointing given the necessity of an app like this for some people. Memory synchronization bugs (300MB+ data not being uploaded on an up to date iphone 15 pro) that requires full app deletion monthly. Support is polite but helpful. Feels like an orphaned product at this point. For some epileptic people here, I know that may be helpful but even violently shaking my hand won’t set it off. Random times unrelated to my epileptic status and then unable to turn off or warn I’m fine in the 10 seconds. It only detects extremely violent shaking “sometimes” ### 3/5 — It’s alright. *2022-12-06, version 4.3.5* I’ve had this app for around 2 years. I have a suggestion. I am tired of constantly getting notifications. Maybe have a system where you can say “I’m going to sleep now.” I am obviously not going to be asleep the entire day. Sorry if that was harsh, I just didn’t want to sugarcoat things. ### 2/5 — Freedom with chains *2022-09-15, version 4.3.5* The only reason why I wouldn’t put it at a one star is because it does it’s job very well. But there’s a lot of things that I hate about it let me look at my list and show you what I mean 1. The touch button on the watch doesn’t work 2. When I need to go on the app itself and stop the alert from sending, it doesn’t work and by the time it sends out I need to send SMS in which I get endless rushes to see me 3. I can’t bike which I love doing btw, I can’t do it when I’m riding. I strap it on my helmet so I wouldn’t need to stop every five minutes just to turn it off which is dangerous 4. I can’t clap, do yard work, can’t dance, or use my controller without it going off, I can’t even use it in jobs cause it won’t shut off 5. One major thing I’d like to add INSTALL A FLAT BUTTON!!! I don’t care if it’s flat or not, just install one that way the touch cancel thing that doesn’t works problem. Make it on the heart logo, just make it a flat button 6. I get that it’s supposed to send an alert when there’s vibration but it is WAY TOO SENSITIVE I’ve had this thing for a year now and it’s turned from annoyance to unbridled rage due to it being a nucence. Please when you make an upgraded version, please for the love of God, add a button that we can press I get that this is an alpha and it’s got some bugs but please take this as valued criticism. ### 2/5 — Does its job almost too well and feels like a nuisance at times *2022-04-12, version 4.3.5* I’ve had my Embrace for about a year and a half and I have very mixed feelings about the watch and the app combined. Don’t get me wrong I understand the whole safety aspect and appreciate what it’s trying to do but as the actual user/wearer it feels more like a nuisance than actually being helpful. The range on the Bluetooth is not great and I can’t stand being reminded every thirty seconds that it’s disconnected. The watch is so sensitive to tremors that I can’t do hardly anything with my right hand without fear of it going off and triggering a false alarm, whether it’s clapping, washing dishes, shaking out a bag, exercising, playing video games, or even shaving my face. Driving is the most annoying of them all when I have to take one hand off the wheel to avoid it going off on bumpy sections of road. And then if I don’t have time to cancel the alert or if I miss it I have people calling me and texting me like crazy to make sure I’m ok. The battery life is ok but not fantastic, and the fact that it has a strange charger means if you lose the one you have you’re kind of screwed. Finally if you don’t have any cell service or internet connection it’s kind of useless and just buzzed a lot which is a pain. Overall I think it’s a flawed product but one that could be good if changes are made to monitoring, battery life, and potential seizure detection. ### 2/5 — Not As Promising As I Had Thought *2021-04-26, version 4.3.5* 2/5 for many reasons. Most notably: 1. The tech in this band is not as good as the Apple Watch 2: Disconnects frequently 3: The double tap to cancel is not always responsive (like 25% of the time) which then alerts all of your designated caregivers I am returning this for an Apple Watch, which is nearly the same price ($250) ### 1/5 — Missed Three Large Tonic-Clonic Seizures, Countless Falses *2021-03-12, version 4.3.5* Having worn this watch for months, I experienced about 1-3 false alerts per day. I could accept this, if it actually went off when I seized. I experienced three large convulsive tonic-clinic seizures which the watch did NOT detect. These weren’t small focal-facial or anything similar, those with me observed all extremities dramatically convulsing. Then, after about three months the watch stopped charging. I contacted Embrace. Embrace was not helpful, and stated nonchalantly they wouldn’t accept a return but were happy to take my insurance companies money. I didn’t personally pay a penny for this comically faulty “medical” device, if it even deserves that term. However, the principle of my insurance company giving them money on my behalf was upsetting to me - Embrace does not care. Don’t waste your money this this product or any others from this company. If you’ve already purchased this, make sure to return it ASAP so you’re not locked in to them having your money. Edit: The response from the company to this review is typical of them - I have already been in contact multiple times with support. Asking me to contact them to “look further” is a method of them making it seem to others as though they care about the users of their product. It also asserts that I haven’t contacted them before I left the review. I had contacted them multiple times before my review was left. They have already “looked further” and have done nothing. This response is to limit their liability in that they appear to be investigating the issues. The FDA has been contacted. This is a medical device, not some toy. Treat it as such. ### 1/5 — Terrible customer service *2021-02-06, version 4.3.5* I have both but problems with connection. It constantly disconnects. Customer service treats you like your a moron. You continue to pair it uninstalling. Reinstalling. Finally after giving them bad reviews which they should get. They sent me another one but are trying to get me to pay for postage to send it back. There fore It won’t work and if I have a seizure my mom won’t be called. ### 1/5 — Good and bad. *2023-01-30, version 4.3.5* So I’ve been epileptic for 6 years and I’ve had the watch for 5 years. I’m going to start with positives because if I’m honest? It has saved my life on multiple occasions. So I’ll say this, the watch goes off when I have a seizure 100% of the time, it also weighs practically nothing and does not effect my everyday movement in anyway. The watches battery lasts for a long duration, and it’s easy to just plug in once every two days at 7:30 and just sit on my bed for a couple hours while it charges. However the battery is were we begin to get into some pretty big problems. While yes the battery does last for a long time, this is only for the first few months. Eventually you notice the battery is basically dead 38-40 hours instead of the usual 44-48 hours. And this drop is very slow but it was getting to the point I was waking up in the morning and seeing my watch had been dead, even though I charged it the night before. Several times. Then you notice the Bluetooth on your watch has disconnected, you do every step including deleting the app, restarting your phone, everything. But it won’t connect via Bluetooth, this means your watch is basically dead. And that’s what I’m going to warn you about. If you notice these three things: A. Battery problems B. Bluetooth Problems C. Pairing Problems, then your watch is dead. I know because I’m currently ordering my fourth watch, and that may sound hypocritical but I don’t have auras and regularly have full grand-mals (where I stop breathing) in my sleep. I need this product, or I’m in legitimate danger. I’m letting people know, it’s a good product and it’s saved my life. But you need to know, as a warning, that it lasts at most 1-2 years. Then if you want to buy another watch call the company and they will give you a discount from 250 to 175. ### 1/5 — Hello *2022-08-26, version 4.3.5* I don’t know what’s wrong with your watch but it won’t vibrate when it goes off nor will it light up when it goes off. It’s so very unfortunate that your product can have a false alarm at any time and it won’t tell me, and it worries my parents half to death. ### 1/5 — Bluetooth won’t connect *2022-07-30, version 4.3.5* I had this watch over a year then all of a sudden one night when I went to put this watch on it would not connect to the Bluetooth. I deleted the app reinstalled it and followed all the instructions no good . I even went as far as unpairing the watch to the iPad and putting the app on another iPad and unable to pair as the Bluetooth is not recognizing the watch YES I followed the instructions. Customer service has very limited hours of operation and no saturdays This watch is in pristine condition and only used at night to alert caregivers in case of seizure now unrecognizable to Bluetooth and unusable and customer service not reachable they say on their voicemail if urgent email …… no response ### 1/5 — Don’t waste your time *2022-06-20, version 4.3.5* I bought Embrace as the father of a son who has seizures hoping for some semblance of peace of mind and awareness. The only thing I’m doing is spending money on an app that does one thing…sends alerts that the watch has been disconnected from the phone. That’s all I can figure this thing does. It’s a very good detector for all types of seizures not just epilepsy A*** ### 5/5 — One favor *2023-07-29, version 4.3.5* I use it everyday and it’s all good. EXCEPT for when it gives off false alarms from stuff such as clapping, running with a bag on (sometimes for me), shivering, etc. And when the false alarm goes off, I have to text or tell my parents that it’s a false alarm and etc. Please, the only favor from me is to be able to extend the countdown time when the watch detects a seizure, because it’s so annoying for it to be 15 seconds, and then have to call your caregivers just because you couldn’t get to your device quickly. ### 5/5 — Absolutely amazing *2023-02-26, version 4.3.5* This is one of the best purchases I have ever made. My embrace 2 arrived yesterday morning, since then I have had three seizures and it has been great to alert people. Even detected my last seizure 4 minutes before the seizure occurred. Great for helping me as I would not have realised it was going to happen otherwise. Would 10/10 recommend it - worth the price. I purchased mine from EpilepsyAlarmsUk and got next day delivery, could not ask for anything more! ### 5/5 — Disconnects quite often *2019-08-09, version 4.2.0* The works great with all my seizures an attacks but I notice it disconnects from the iPhone app whenever I use the internet on my iPhone or do something with my phone that uses the internet more often so I have to stop whatever I’m doing on my iPhone an go back to the app to get it reconnected again. ### 5/5 — Functions well, but could be more practical *2019-03-06, version 4.0.2* The sleep log is great, and the device alerts reliably (to many false alerts from daily activities - if your non dominant wrist is wearing the embrace, try sawing through frozen bread with a knife, or using a sanding block) Their support is very responsive. I wish the time to cancel a false alert was 5 seconds longer. My biggest complaint is that the notification part of their apps are very targeted toward their device. There is nothing simple like a help me button, or a way, to my knowledge, to manually trigger an alert via an embrace tap sequence. ### 4/5 — It does its job. *2024-11-16, version 4.3.5* I’m only 14 years old, which means I still live with my parents obviously. I don’t have many issues with the app, it works pretty well. The main issue is the watch itself. The watch itself has false alarms a day when I wear it, which has caused me to start wearing it when I go to sleep or if i’m home alone. Does the watch have cons? Yes. But it has its pros, which is SEIZURE DETECTION!! One time when I was home alone my watch sent an alert to my caregivers after having a tonic clonic seizure and i’m honestly so thankful I had this on. I vividly remember laying on the couch watching tv, and when my aunt who lives only 3 minutes away to check on me she said I was out in the driveway which is so weird, but this watch got me the immediate help I needed which i’m so happy for. I found this online and to my relief there was finally a device that could tell people when I’m having a seizure. I was thrilled.
