## What is Alketo?

Alketo interprets a conversation as it happens, translates text from a photo
and puts people who do not share a language in one room. 56 languages.

What you translate is never stored on our servers. Your history stays on
your phone.

WHAT IT DOES

• LIVE INTERPRETER
Speak normally and the translation keeps up. With headphones you hear it
  without touching the phone.

• A CONVERSATION BETWEEN TWO PEOPLE
Each of you gets a button and the app switches between the languages
  on its own.

• TRANSLATE FROM A PHOTO
Menus, signs, packaging, paperwork. The text is read on the phone itself —
  the photo goes nowhere.

• A WHOLE PAGE AT ONCE
A contract, an official letter or a manual in a language you do not read.
The page is translated as one, technical wording included — and numbers,
dates and units stay exactly as written.

• GROUP ROOM
Several people, each in their own language. A six-digit code is all it
  takes.

• SUBTITLES
Large text for someone hard of hearing, or for a noisy place.

• YOUR OWN GLOSSARY
Names, brands and specialist terms come out the way you want them,
  every time.

• DOUBLE CHECK
On a translation that matters, the text goes through a second time and
points out where the meaning could have shifted.

ACCESSIBILITY

Subtitles are in the free version on purpose. Someone who cannot hear should
not have to buy large text.

The app can be operated with a screen reader. A finished translation is read
out on its own, in the voice of its own language rather than the app's.

PRIVACY

What you translate is not stored on a server and not written to logs. Your
history and your glossary live on your phone only. There are no accounts, we
never ask for your name or e-mail, we do not track you across apps and there
are no ads.

FREE AND PREMIUM

Free: 40 translations and 4 minutes of live interpreting a month, 3 document
pages, a glossary of up to 10 terms, history and subtitles. Nothing is locked
behind a trial.

Premium unlocks a glossary of 40 terms, more saved phrases, the second-pass
accuracy check, regional dialects and share cards without a watermark. It also
raises the monthly allowances to 400 translations, 60 minutes of live
interpreting and 10 document pages.

Longer texts count by length: every 500 characters is one translation, a photo
counts by the text on it (at least two) and a document by its pages. When our
server recognizes speech, a minute of interpreting counts as two.

Monthly or yearly, and the App Store shows the price in your own currency. The
subscription renews automatically and can be cancelled at any time in your
store settings.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.5 — 2026-10-05

Split earbuds: one pair, two languages

• Two people share one pair of earbuds: each wears one and hears only the translation into their own language.
• Works in Voice and in Simultaneous. In Simultaneous, turn on hands-free and "Take turns automatically", and the phone can lie on the table between you.
• "Try it" says each language's name in its earbud, and "Swap sides" fixes a mix-up. The app warns you when no headphones are connected or Mono Audio is on.
• Made for two people who are happy to share a pair of earbuds. Available with or without Premium.

Longer sentences in Simultaneous

• With hands-free on, the translation starts after 2.5 seconds of silence, so a breath or a short pause no longer cuts you off. The other person hears it a moment later, but in one piece.

Photo reads more languages

• Photo now reads text in Russian and Ukrainian and, depending on your iOS version, in Arabic and Thai.

Monthly allowances

• Translations now count by length, roughly one per 500 characters, so an ordinary sentence is still one.
• A photo counts as at least two translations, more if it has a lot of text. Document mode counts by pages of about 1,800 characters.
• When our server has to recognize the speech because the phone can't, a minute counts as two.
• Each month without Premium: 40 translations, 4 minutes of live interpreting and 3 documents. With Premium: 400 translations, 60 minutes and 10 documents. Settings shows what is left.
• Documents can now be topped up too, 10 or 30 at a time, and translations in packs of 400.

### 1.4 — 2026-09-25

Spots numbers that changed in translation

• Number check: when a number, time or amount in the translation differs from the original, the app highlights it and says what is missing. In Text, Photo, Voice, Simultaneous and Subtitles.
• The group room can read messages aloud — everyone hears the translation in their own language. Best with headphones.
• In the room you can turn on "Send at once": a dictated sentence goes out without checking it in the text field first.
• An "I don't understand" button in Voice and Subtitles shows the sentence again in simpler words, in the language of the person who didn't understand.

### 1.3 — 2026-09-21

Voice previews behave properly now

• A voice preview in Settings falls silent when you close the voice list or leave Settings.
• Starting a new preview replaces the previous one instead of queueing behind it.

### 1.2 — 2026-09-10

Small fixes

• The subscription screen now says exactly where a subscription is cancelled.
• When there is no purchase to restore, the app says so more clearly.

### 1.1 — 2026-09-05

Interpreting got steadier

• The simultaneous interpreter waits until you finish a sentence instead of cutting in halfway.
• It no longer picks up its own voice, and a single hiccup no longer ends the session.
• Speech recognition now also works in languages your phone cannot handle on its own.

Subscription

• Manage your subscription and see the renewal date in Settings.
• A quiet note appears when Premium is about to end.

Elsewhere

• A photo translation always belongs to the picture in front of you.
• The keyboard no longer covers what you are typing in Rooms and Subtitles.
• Your translation history stays on the device and is left out of the phone's backup.
• Long labels no longer spill out of their frame, and the launch screen shows the app name.
