## What is All Birds Trinidad and Tobago?

*** This mobile field guide includes all 492 bird species likely to be found on the islands of Trinidad & Tobago. This makes this app the one and only to date mobile bird guide to this region! The content is mainly derived from Bloomsbury's Helm Guide "Birds of Trinidad and Tobago". Covering 492 species with 1,200 superb illustrations and 972 songs and calls. All distinct plumages including all variations and subspecies are illustrated. ***

The app's content is mainly based on the second edition of "Birds of Trinidad and Tobago" by Martyn Kenefick, Robin Restall and Floyd Hayes. Comprehensive descriptions for each species were taken from the renowned two volume reference work "Birds of Northern South America" by Robin Restall, Clemencia Rodner, and Miguel Lentino. The app also contains some species which haven't been recorded on T&T so far but are likely to be spotted if known what to look out for (some swallows and swifts). All of these are illustrated too. The creation of apps from the books is a co-production between Bloomsbury Plc and Sunbird Images.

Narrow species down by foot colour, bill shape, tail length etc. leading to the bird searched for plus a choice of similar species. You can also look for fragments of a species name – the search for “finch“ shows all the species which include the word “finch“ in the species’ name.

I have been using this app since 2017 over three visits to Trinidad. I especially like the songs and Calls provided in the app along with a long description of habits and habitat. Merlin is not that detailed about the birds here. 
I love the images of birds as well. Highly recommend this as a go to field guide since the book can be difficult to take on hikes etc.

It’s great to be able to take a field guide on a tropical birding trip - and not have to carry a huge book! Plus, books don’t make bird calls. This is a pretty complete guide, with plates, sounds, and maps. Looks like you can also save locations of specific sightings on a map, but I haven’t had a chance to test it out. Plates have a reasonable number of different plumages (immature, females, non-breeding); the hawk plates have both perched and soaring. Text on identification is extensive, but basic for things like habitat and habits. Gotta have this guide to bird in T&T - well worth the money.

We purchased this app while on a two week trip to T&T. It is very easy to use with high quality content and sketches. Easy identification and some good motivation of what else to look for when out. The one part we’d have appreciated more development of was the distribution map which is currently the whole of the northern part of South America. I’d much prefer to see a local distribution with some colour coding to density.

Just returned from a birding holiday in Trinidad & Tobago. We went last year armed with the Helm Field Guide “Birds of Trinidad and Tobago”. This year I took the guide but also downloaded the Sunbird App as well. What a difference it made to our holiday! We used it to record our sightings, complete with location coordinates and maps, identify birds, (but with our great birding guide Lester Nanan that was only used when on our own!)and call birds in with the recordings of bird songs and calls! Lester and the other members of our group were also equally impressed with the app. I also contacted their customer service to ask a few questions and to give them some feedback and was astonished to receive a prompt, friendly and helpful reply! Highly recommended!
