### 4/5 — Superb Bird Guide

*2020-07-09, version 2.0*

The photographs are superb and really do help in identifying the birds seen in the UK. One thing puzzles me though why the recordings sometimes have a country location which is far from here. The blackbird recorded in New Zealand for example! Would have thought recordings in the UK would more accurately reflect the nuances of the calls of our birds here.
A User Guide would be helpful.m

### 4/5 — Excellent

*2019-06-22, version 1.6.2*

Great app., only comment is that the eggs all look the same 😀

### 5/5 — Great app

*2019-05-27, version 1.6.2*

I already have an app which identifies British birds but I wanted a more through one. This app has been a delight and as I feed the birds in my garden regularly, it is good to have an app that can identify them quickly.

### 5/5 — Expensive but full of features

*2019-04-23, version 1.6.2*

I’d already bought the wildflower version by the same people and loved it. I’ve already logged my first bird sighting and looking forward to the facility to compare similar birds to distinguish which exact bird it is and comparing bird song. I think I’m going to use this app a lot

### 5/5 — Africa to UK

*2019-04-08, version 1.6.2*

I’m a qualified wildlife ranger and I have just moved up from South Africa where I used ‘Roberts Bird App’.
As soon as I moved to the UK I really wanted a birding app for this country. I find that ‘All Birds UK App’ is very user friendly and provides all the information u may need. Pictures, sounds, general information and distribution.
I would recommend this app to anyone, experienced birder or a novice.

### 5/5 — A sound purchase

*2019-03-30, version 1.6.2*

The sound recordings were what really drew me to this app and has helped build my birding knowledge

### 5/5 — Love this ‘All Birds UK’ App!!!

*2019-01-20, version 1.6.2*

Our family has loved this app and whenever we visit new location around UK we look up the birds we spot and learn loads of new facts - and to listen to their call is an amazing feature too!! Love it!!!

### 4/5 — Excellent for a budding border

*2018-09-06, version 1.6.2*

Happy I took the plunge and bought this app, it’s the perfect tool for anyone looking to get into birdwatching or is simply curious about birds. The pictures are good quality, the bird song recordings are extremely helpful to anyone struggling to learn (like me), and the app is well laid out and easy to use. The function that allows you to compare similar birds is also extremely useful for birds that look similar. Perhaps a more systematic selection of pictures showing variations in plumage and wing feathers etc etc may come in handy but generally the pictures are very helpful.

Not able to give it 5 stars though I’m afraid as there are fairly frequent grammatical errors.

### 4/5 — All Birds UK

*2018-05-27, version 1.6.2*

Great app. Very helpful for my 1st trip birding in the UK. Photos are good and so are songs/calls. Wish it had a link to recent sightings however.

### 5/5 — Everything you need

*2018-05-27, version 1.6.2*

This app is really good. Fully comprehensive, and the bird calls database is superb, with spectographs too! All data is stored locally, so you don't need signal up a mountain when you see something you don't recognise. And the ability to log your sightings is great.

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2018-05-12, version 1.6.2*

This a great reference. I’m a mountain leader & often get asked about the birds that we see on our hikes & adventures. If there is one I'm not sure of then this app gives me the info i need.

### 3/5 — Not a polished layout

*2018-04-20, version 1.6.2*

I have an iPad Pro, and it doesn’t utilise the full size which is disappointing and the screen layout overlaps haphazardly at times. It’s a shame as the app has lots of info and detail, it just needs an overhaul of the GUI

### 5/5 — Brilliant app

*2018-04-14, version 1.6.2*

Top app
Really helps with identifying the different birds in and around our land thanks

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Quality nit checked

*2020-05-03, version 1.6.2*

For a program that cost £15 you would not expect the home page image for “Gannets” to feature a photograph of a Pelican. thankfully it contained one gannet - but not 3 as expected.

### 1/5 — Not impressed

*2020-05-01, version 1.6.2*

Not good for the 12.7 iPad as only 2/3 of the screen is utilised. This also causes some of the writing to be covered over. I found it difficult to navigate. I made a mistake recording a sighting and can’t see for the life of me how to delete it. The user instructions are vague. It looks very basic compared to some or the cheaper (excuse the pun) more user friendly ones that are out there. For the price, in my opinion, definitely not worth it.

### 1/5 — iPad 2018 12.9 inch - app is not rendering

*2019-02-01, version 1.6.2*

Really disappointed as the app is not working properly and it cost a lot of money. We can’t seem to find anywhere to get help and this is very frustrating. There are cheaper apps available but we chose this as it looked like good quality. Very disappointed. Wondering if their is a fix or how do we get a refund?
We wouldn’t normally publish but there does not seem to be anywhere to go for private help. Happy to change rating if this gets sorted out.

### 1/5 — DO NOT BUY - FAKE REVIEWS - NO BIRDSONG IDENTIFIER!!!

*2018-04-24, version 1.6.2*

Just downloaded this app. Effectively it’s a bird book with no ability to identify birdsong from recording. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THE FALSE PROMISE OF IDENTIFYING BIRDS FROM THEIR SING. THE OWNERS OF THIS APP ARE LEGALLY MISREPRESENTING IT...

### 1/5 — Take care before investing

*2018-04-03, version 1.6.2*

This looks like a great app but if you want to use it for birdsong and if you have an iPhone 7 take care - it simply won’t play audio. I suspect this really frustrating bug will eventually be ironed out. (There are also some issues with the feature designed to record sightings.)

In the meantime I would steer clear if you want to be able to hear birdsong samples or log sightings. This is fairly expensive for an app that doesn’t do all it is meant to.

### 2/5 — Better than nothing, but...

*2019-09-17, version 1.6.2*

Frustrating to use because there is not nearly enough information, and especially not enough pictures. Some species only have one picture, of an adult, and no pictures of juvenile or winter plumage. I’m glad to have it for my first trip here, but I’m disappointed.

### 2/5 — Okay

*2017-12-10, version 1.6.2*

Great directory but it’s not perfect by a long shot. I can’t save notes, it’s long winded to log a spot and better array of pictures is needed on some species. For the price this is a poor offering.

### 2/5 — All Birds U.K.

*2017-10-01, version 1.6.2*

I recently bought this app and I
have found it so amazing that I
have deleted three of four of the
Bird apps I already had,

Nick James.

### 3/5 — Basic

*2020-07-06, version 1.6.2*

This app has given my the basic info I need. Would love it to include a life list to tick off. Also more images of juveniles and variations.

### 3/5 — Disappointing

*2018-06-18, version 1.6.2*

Claims to have all birds but doesn’t, Pied Wagtail anyone? Doesn’t work properly on my iPad and support have stopped communicating with me. Identifying birds is clumsy and not as accurate as others. For the high price I expected more. My cheaper apps are better.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — The best I’ve found

*2025-11-10, version 2.1*

I’m very new to bird photography. After upgrading to a professional camera I took a few shots and now I’m hooked.

I was looking for an app that would tell me what birds I was capturing and how they live. This has provided me with more information than I needed.

Some of the birds that I photographed in Mallorca I now know that they are extremely rare.

If you want to know about birds in your area or what I now do this is the app for you. 10/10. Thank you

### 5/5 — All Birds UK

*2023-04-01, version 2.1*

Have only just started using the app. Gives me all I need concisely. Easy to use. So glad I downloaded it.

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2022-10-02, version 2.1*

Great little app and worth the money. Perfect field guide for any birder.

### 5/5 — Excellent field guide

*2022-07-09, version 2.1*

I’ve used this app for several years now and find it an excellent guide to identifying birds in the field - saving the need to carry a heavy book with me. It also scores over a book with the superb selection of songs and calls which I’ve used to confirm an identification. I’ve given the 5 stars based on this experience.

However, the app is not so good for recording your sightings. I probably pushed it further than the designers expected with about 20 lists for sites I’d visited sometimes on several occasions. The app became unbearably slow at saving recordings and in the end I gave up with it. I haven’t lost my records as the app offers the ability to export your lists as CSV files which you can import to Excel. But be aware that the export contains the GPS map coordinates of the sightings so if you didn’t record your list by location you‘ll have trouble working out what you saw where. There are other apps for recording records including one from the BTO, but I’ve decided to go back to pen an paper and will use the RSPB bird lists. Recordings of ten outings for £1 seems pretty good value to me.

### 5/5 — Good!

*2022-06-02, version 2.1*

Easy to use and a comprehensive library of birds.

### 5/5 — Helpful in lots of ways

*2022-05-06, version 2.1*

This app has lots of details about the birds, from pictures to song. It helps you identify their eggs. I can also find the name of birds in Portuguese! Finally, the option to record sightings is just great!

### 5/5 — Great

*2022-03-14, version 2.1*

Wonderful just got back to bird watching after many years, tried several free apps which were ok but glad I purchased this one which is far more comprehensive with fantastic photos and information great. John Brad

### 5/5 — Best Bird App

*2020-08-23, version 2.1*

The photographs are excellent and generally cover male, female, juvenile, in flight and at rest. This is the most helpful bird spotting app that I have found. I definitely think it’s worth the money.

### 5/5 — Excellent field guide

*2020-05-27, version 1.6.2*

I recently downloaded this app as I wanted to get back into birding having been an avid twitcher when I lived in Southern Africa. I wanted the best app I could find with as much info to hand in the field. Having been used to carrying several reference books in the past, it was an absolute pleasure to know that all the guidance and info I needed coukd now be found on my mobile phone with this app. The information is clear and concise with detailed pictures for identification and numerous bird calls to add that extra bit of certainty. I’ve learnt a lot from it already.
A huge database for an app and well worth the money. Highly recommended!

### 5/5 — Birds

*2019-10-20, version 1.6.2*
