### 3/5 — Really Great

*2026-06-18, version 1.1.20*

I wish that it was less expensive and more accessible because it’s a really great tool to learn more about what I’m eating and putting in my body

### 3/5 — Good but not perfect

*2025-12-02*

This app is useful for products with long ingredient lists, but it’s definitely not perfect. I’ve had it say that two different foods contain gluten, because they contained fiber. When I read the actual ingredient labels, it was flagging the phrase “not a significant source of fiber”. One of the foods was even certified gluten free. For $20, I wish that some of the kinks would be worked out.

### 1/5 — Awful experience

*2025-09-02*

Don’t waste your money, this app only uses IA to find words in the label, reason why it warns you about ingredients that are not an actual problem, for example “Cocoa butter”, it’s dairy free but the app does not recognize this kind of things. I was expecting a lot more, I just tried it and I’m begging for a reimbursement.

### 1/5 — Waste of time & money

*2025-08-30*

The idea of this app is good but there are serious flaws. When you scan a product it searches for key words- sounds good right? Wrong. Numerous products are truly dairy free but if it uses the word milk at all to even say “free of milk” or “vs milk” it will mark it as “unclean” then you’re back to rereading the whole label anyways. It marked almond milk as “unclean”.

### 1/5 — Not what I expected

*2025-08-22, version 1.1.3*

There is no point in dealing with this issue as it is a waste of time and money. Its effectiveness is not very effective.

### 1/5 — Overpriced and not very smart

*2025-08-19*

Basically I ended up paying 20 bucks for a camera lens that uses AI to read labels you scan. But if that label says “gluten free” or “made in a facility without wheat” it will just see the word wheat or gluten and then tell you the product is unsafe. I’m sure there are free apps that can scan and read labels if you want that as a feature. But for this save your money and just read the label of whatever you are trying to eat. That’s 20 bucks I’ll never get back.

### 1/5 — Absolute trash

*2025-08-15, version 1.1.3*

Doesn’t work in the slightest. Feels like ai slop. No thought or care was actually put into this product. Warning about wine in my product because it has wine vinegar. Warnings on dietary fiber because it assumes it is from a gluten source. Just plain stupidity only ai and a fool can make.

### 1/5 — Disappointed

*2025-08-09, version 1.1.3*

First 2 labels scanned said no dairy was found but to check and verify. There was dairy. So a failure of the app.

### 1/5 — Works poorly

*2025-08-06*

I’m disappointed in this app... I was excited initially as they offer a lifetime license, and I prefer that to the perpetual subscription that everybody seems to want from you these days, but using the app leaves much to be desired.

It misses obvious allergens, and then will latch onto part of an ingredient (e.g. “cream” in “coconut cream”) and flag that, when it’s not actually a problem.

The little gray boxes that appear onscreen when it’s identifying text also always appear in the same place (middle right of screen) regardless of where the text actually is. It really doesn’t seem to read the text at all on labels with tiny text, and the fact that it just returns a “safe to eat” when this happens is alarming to say the least.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback. The issues you describe were addressed in version 1.1.1, which includes major improvements to scanning accuracy, text recognition, and allergen detection. Please update the app and try again.

We put a lot of time, energy, and passion into making Nosher better with every update. A one-star rating can be disheartening for our small team because it doesn’t reflect the effort and care we put into improving the app for our users. Higher ratings not only motivate us, but they also help more people discover the app so we can continue investing in new features and better performance.

### 1/5 — The fastest I have deleted an app

*2025-07-10*

Simply does not work. It flagged a peanut free snack because it was written “made in a peanut free facility”. Don’t even bother

**Developer response:** Thanks to your feedback, we've improved how we detect phrases like “peanut free”—in the next update, these will no longer be flagged incorrectly.

That said, we remain proud of the system’s ability to reliably detect the keyword “peanut”, because detecting is better than not detecting—especially when it comes to food safety. We prioritize caution, as the risk of failing to detect actual peanut content is far more serious than mistakenly flagging a non-peanut food product.

When we see a 1-star review, it hits us hard—not just because of the rating, but because we know we can do better, and we’re trying. Your feedback led us to improve the way we handle phrases like “peanut free”, and that change is already on the way in the next version.

If you’d consider updating your rating to 5 stars, it would mean the world to us. 💛 It’s not just about the stars—it’s a sign that we’re on the right path, and it fuels us to keep building and improving Nosher for everyone who counts on it.

Thank you for giving us the chance to do better.

### 1/5 — Contactless

*2025-06-24*

I bought two licenses for myself and my partner because we have a grandson with a peanut allergy and need to check ingredients constantly. The app on both phones has stopped working and we have no means of contacting this company because their website “contact” link fails to go anywhere. How embarrassing must that be for a company who sells a life supporting application. How frustrating do you think this is for us? Having paid a premium price twice for this application I am extremely disappointed with the level of service you have in place. As a web developer myself I know how much time it would take to create a simple contact page. The app is currently not working. I have no other means of contacting you other than giving unfortunate feedback here.

**Developer response:** Hi KMariner,
Thank you for your feedback, and we’re truly sorry for the frustration and inconvenience you’ve experienced. We completely understand how important Nosher is for your family, especially with a peanut allergy involved.

We’re a small startup, and while we’re doing our best to grow and improve, we’re also committed to responding to all user concerns within 2 business days. We sincerely apologize that our contact page wasn’t working when you needed it—this issue has now been fixed.

Please update to the latest version of the Nosher app, which should resolve the issue you've encountered. We’ve made several important fixes and improvements in recent releases.

As a fellow developer, we hope you understand the challenges small teams face. Your support—and especially your 5-star review—means the world to us. It helps us continue improving and serving families like yours.

Thank you again for bringing this to our attention. If you’re still having trouble after updating, please reach out again—we’re here to help.

Warm regards,
The Nosher Team

### 1/5 — Terrible App

*2025-06-01, version 1.0.40*

Supposed to detect animal products for Alpha Gal allergy. Scanned three products that contained animal products and it scanned CLEAN! Terrible App

### 1/5 — Annoyed

*2025-05-08*

I deleted this app just as quickly as downloaded this app you go through the process of answering the questions only to find out that unless you pay for the app you can’t use it I would prefer to be able to give 0 stars but that’s not an option

### 1/5 — Useless after spending $35

*2025-04-21*

The minute it sees any keywords, it simply flags it as containing gluten for instance, if it sees potato flour, it says it has gluten or if the label says gluten-free, it says it contains gluten

### 1/5 — Not accurate

*2025-03-23, version 1.0.39*

I have celiac so avoiding gluten is absolutely dire. I’ve tested the scanner on things that I know have gluten such as soy sauce. In the ingredients it says wheat and the app would not pick up the fact that it said wheat I do not recommend.

### 1/5 — Worst app ever

*2025-03-13*

This app sucked.I couldn’t even get in to the app. do not get this app

### 1/5 — Dose not work

*2025-01-27*

I pointed this at a box of pasta before I paid during my 5 free scans and it gave me a warning of gluten, however as soon as I paid, not one time in 30 things that I scanned for my pantry did it come up with gluten including boxes of semolina pasta, gluten rice and processed food. I’m brand new with this gluten-free lifestyle and this app would lead me completely down the wrong path.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Costs too much

*2026-06-29, version 1.1.20*

I just want a free app.

### 1/5 — No response

*2026-06-04, version 1.1.20*

I sent several emails to the support email listed in the app and never received a response. Very frustrating to use

### 1/5 — Didn’t give any information aside from product name

*2026-05-18*

The first and only thing I scanned for my shellfish allergy and it told me it couldn’t give any information and therefore couldn’t check my restrictions. It scanned the item and even told me what it was with a picture of the item. But that’s it. I love sushi and saw a salmon sushi and from what I could see there wasn’t any shellfish but I wanted to make sure because you just never know. This app gave me no useful information. Thankfully a worker was nearby and was able to help but I paid the year subscription with excitement that this app could help me. Was very wrong. Don’t recommend.

### 1/5 — Do not buy subscription as they don’t give refunds for broken apps:(

*2025-11-15*

I bought the subscription thinking this would be a good app to use but it doesn’t work properly and keeps picking up the word flour from buckwheat flour that is gluten free and the word gluten from gluten free label and now I can’t get a refund because they didn’t except refunds for broken apps very disappointing with this app :(

**Developer response:** The claim that Nosher does not give refunds is simply not accurate. Nosher does not process or control refunds at all. All refunds for every app on the App Store are handled entirely by Apple. Developers have no ability to approve, deny, or block refunds.

If a refund was not granted, that decision was made by Apple based on their policies, not by us. We always guide users through the correct steps to request a refund, and many of our users receive refunds successfully when they explain their situation.

We are also aware that no scanner is perfect, and we are always improving accuracy. If you experienced incorrect readings like buckwheat flour being flagged, we genuinely appreciate you reporting it so we can continue refining the app.

We respect honest feedback, but we also want to make sure false claims do not mislead other users about how refunds actually work. If you or anyone needs help submitting a proper refund request through Apple, we are happy to provide step by step instructions.

### 1/5 — Bad vibes

*2025-10-31*

Can’t do anything unless you pay. Am fine with that. £27 per year, too steep for me no worries. Went to close was offered £15 for lifetime? Wanted to think about it and was told it was one time offer only with a 1 min count down. I don’t like being ripped off to start with and then I don’t respond well to brinkmanship. Shame, it’s probably a great app.

**Developer response:** Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. We’re truly sorry to hear that your first impression of Nosher was shaped by the promotional offer experience rather than by the app itself.

The limited-time discount you saw is a genuine promotion that occasionally appears to give new users a chance to unlock the lifetime version at a lower cost. It’s not meant to pressure anyone — just an optional opportunity for those who are ready to upgrade right away. You can always continue using the free version to explore the core features before deciding if Premium is right for you.

We’d also like to share something personal from our team. Nosher is built by a very small group of developers who work tirelessly to improve the scanner, expand the allergen database, and make the experience better with every update. When we receive a one-star rating, it can feel discouraging because it doesn’t always reflect the quality of the app or the dedication behind it. Higher ratings and constructive feedback help us stay motivated, reach more users, and keep investing in new improvements.

We sincerely hope you’ll reconsider your rating after giving the app another try. Especially with the upcoming updates that make scanning faster, smarter, and more accurate. Your support truly makes a difference for our small team.

Warm regards,
Nosher Team

### 1/5 — DO NOT DOWNLOAD

*2025-10-10*

I recently was tested for food allergies and I have a lot. I needed an app to help me keep track so I downloaded this one. Not only did it charge me $30, the app only has a small handful of broad allergies to set and it’s not customizeable so it was useless to me. I requested a refund and was denied because they charged it as a subscription! So not only did they take $30 from me, but they planned to do it again if I hadn’t noticed! This is def a scam! Not worth $1 much less $30!

**Developer response:** We want to be absolutely clear that Nosher is not a scam, and we do not have the ability to charge anyone without their full consent. All payments and subscriptions are handled directly by the App Store or Google Play, which always require confirmation before any charge is made.

Nosher’s Premium version gives users access to advanced scanning features and a growing allergen database. We understand that every person’s allergies are unique, and we’re already working on an update that will allow users to add custom allergens. So you’ll be able to enter your specific sensitivities and have the app detect them automatically in ingredient lists.

We also want to be transparent: we’re a small, hardworking team, not a large company. Every update and improvement you see in the app comes from countless hours of effort to make Nosher as accurate and helpful as possible. That’s why receiving a 1-star review is disheartening. It doesn’t reflect the purpose or ongoing progress of what we’re building.

We’d love for you to give Nosher another try once the custom allergen feature is live. Your feedback helps us improve, and your support truly keeps our small team motivated to continue making Nosher better for everyone managing food allergies. Please consider to update your review.

Warm regards,
Nosher Team

### 1/5 — Zu teuer

*2025-09-29*

### 1/5 — Too many screens too soon

*2025-09-27*

Within a split second of downloading this I had to go through about 12 screens and then it asked me how I like it so far. Come on people, at least wait until I’ve scanned one thing.

**Developer response:** We completely understand how frustrating it can feel to go through several screens right after downloading an app, especially before you’ve even had a chance to try it.

Those first screens are designed to help new users understand how Nosher works. Since it’s not a simple barcode scanner, but a tool that reads and interprets ingredient labels to detect hidden allergens like gluten, dairy, and others. That short onboarding is meant to explain the fundamentals before your first scan so that you can get accurate results right away.

We’re a small, passionate team working tirelessly to make Nosher better with every update, and a 1-star rating can feel disheartening, especially when it comes before someone has had the chance to actually experience the app’s features. Higher ratings and constructive feedback help us keep improving and reaching more people who need this tool.

We’d love for you to give Nosher another try after the upcoming update. We think you’ll find it much smoother and more helpful.

Warm regards,
Nosher Team

### 1/5 — Cannot trust it

*2025-09-13, version 1.1.3*

I just bought this app since I was diagnosed with alpha gal syndrome. Plus I have gluten intolerance I decided to try it out and scan a bag of chips that are gluten free according to the package. This app told me it has gluten in it. If it is wrong on this, how can I trust it on other foods? I want my money back!!

### 1/5 — Nah

*2025-09-12, version 1.1.3*

Downloaded at this am.. scanned labels around my kitchen. Everyone was sending up gluten and other flags.. yet it was wrong every time. Deleted app. Would love to be refunded. Can’t find a way to communicate with developers but this review box.
