### 1/5 — Recent app update resulting in no connection

*2023-05-05, version 1.7.7*

Since the April 2023 app update my phone, my partners phone and our electrician phone has not been able to connect. This system is terrible and doesn’t offer any manual on/off switch. Very disappointed especially for the cost

### 1/5 — Failed product

*2023-04-24, version 1.7.6*

The latest app version update resulted in complete loss of transformer communications. Have had this product for many years with occasional problems, but until now always able to re-establish functionality. Tried everything this time: repower, reset, reinstall… no help. Contacted the installer and told him I want it replaced with a different brand. I highly recommend against the manufacturer and the application.

### 1/5 — Terrible product

*2022-11-05, version 1.7.4*

I’m on my third transformer as the app crashes when attempting to get into the programs settings to change from dusk till dawn to dusk till midnight. Now tue fault light is on with no rhyme or reason as to why. Their support is terrible “power off, reinstall the app” is all they offer. Did I mention you need to go through your authorized reseller/contractor for any warranty replacements? My contractor went out of business, probably from installing products like these. ALLIANCE, IMPROVE THIS OR CLOSE DOWN YOUR BUSINESS.

### 1/5 — Awful

*2022-09-08, version 1.7.4*

Do not use this system if
It was given to you for free. The connection is
Poor, there is no support. The app does not allow you to turn on and off. It only will
Allow the preset program. Lose power and
It requires a full reset.
If I could rate lower I would. Throwing this in the trash and buying another system. Had for a
Month

### 1/5 — Do not buy this product

*2022-08-31, version 1.7.4*

Every time I have to muck with this transformer I realize how poorly designed the system is. The app barely connects unless you are crouched down next to the transformer and even then it is hard to navigate and make changes. You figure with all the one star reviews, Lester would want to update and fix the app but obviously there is no pride in their product. I’m having my landscaper trash these transformers and get decent ones from a different company.

### 1/5 — Bought lights…..got trash

*2022-06-30, version 1.7.4*

Can believe how bad this app is.

### 1/5 — Very frustrating

*2022-05-31, version 1.7.4*

You literally have to put your phone next to the transformer to make it to work. They might as well made this with just a turn on and off switch than make it to work with an app on your phone. I’m ready to replace this expensive unit.

### 1/5 — Beware

*2022-04-16, version 1.7.4*

The app, it’s companion BT app and the entire ecosystem of Alliance lighting is horrible. Very outdated, challenging to use and connect to, and clearly no effort put into a user interface or thought regarding IoT and automation modernization. Lights themselves and concept are fine. The controls make them virtually unusable. Talking to our contractor now to replace.

### 1/5 — Useless and dumbfounded

*2021-08-20, version 1.7.4*

Buy something else and save yourself from dealing with the stupidity of this product and this app. Turning your landscape lighting on or off and adjusting the timing, such as dusk to dawn, should not be this impossible. I’ve worked in the information technology sector for 25 years. How you can mess up Bluetooth so badly is dumbfounding.

### 1/5 — Whaaaat?

*2021-07-07, version 1.7.4*

Day one. App says my lights are on. My eyes tell me otherwise. What have I done??

### 1/5 — Most pathetic app

*2021-06-30, version 1.7.4*

This app is trash and so is the transformer can’t connect no matter what I try. I need to get my money back! And I’m a contractor never had so many issues with an app like this one.

### 1/5 — Frustrating.....

*2021-05-08, version 1.7.4*

If anyone has truly explained to us that there was no way to bypass the app to get the lights back on, we would never have bought this product. I’m in day three of uninstalling, reinstalling the app, unplugging the transformer, etc. each time it falls offline, we go through that. I think we are going to have them rewired to work without utilizing WiFi or this app.

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2021-02-02, version 1.7.4*

Is this company still in business? The app never works.

### 1/5 — 1

*2020-11-26, version 1.7.3*

Simply terrible, period.

### 1/5 — Cheap !!don’t buy!!!

*2020-09-30, version 1.7.3*

Return this product immediately! Dont even try to set up it will give you headaches!!!!

### 1/5 — Horrific

*2020-09-07, version 1.7.3*

This is quite possibly the worst app that I have ever encountered. Read the rest of these reviews, it’s an embarrassment. It worked for 48 hours, kicked me off the system, and I have never been able to reconnect. Shameful. Do you buy this nor let a contractor install it for you.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t Work

*2020-06-23, version 1.7.3*

This app is supposed to connect the transformer to your iOS device via Bluetooth. Multiple tries on my up to date iPhone 11 resulted in no connection. It just does not show up as a discoverable blue tooth device. Thankfully the transformer can be operated manually.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — It’s laughably bad

*2025-12-24, version 1.7.8*

It’s so bad I felt like I had to leave a review.

### 1/5 — This App Does Not Function

*2025-06-17, version 1.7.8*

I spent a lot of money on these transformers, and this app does not connect to them through Wi-Fi, even when I have full bars. My recommendation is to find a better app.

### 1/5 — Run

*2025-02-09, version 1.7.8*

So annoyed that my landscaper installed this garbage system. App hasn’t been able to recognize or connect for years.

### 1/5 — Worst App

*2024-10-29, version 1.7.8*

This is hands down the worst connectivity I’ve ever encountered on a app.

Delete it. I’m going to resort to manually plugging my $1,000 transformer and light bundle I paid my contractor for.

Do yourself a favor and invest in Phillip Hue and use that app.

### 1/5 — Worst Ever

*2024-01-17, version 1.7.8*

This was part of my landscaping when I had asked for lighting. If I would have known how bad this was I would never have gotten it!! Way too expensive for a product that does not work!!

### 1/5 — No good

*2023-11-09, version 1.7.8*

App never works if lights are on can’t program to turn them off and vice versus

### 1/5 — What a joke - stay far away

*2023-08-01, version 1.7.8*

Alliance transformer 300 is a piece of crap. Stopped working in less than 1 year. Contractor no help. Terrible product. DO NOT PURCHASE! Thank me later.

### 1/5 — Annoying

*2023-06-21, version 1.7.7*

Cannot agree more with the 1 star reviews. It is just random and luck if the app connects to the transformer. Super annoying if the app is most of the time offline!

### 1/5 — App is never connected

*2023-06-04, version 1.7.7*

I can never get the app to connect to the transformer. It worked for maybe a week.

### 1/5 — Garbage

*2023-05-19, version 1.7.7*

If your contractor suggested this product, you got hoodwinked. The app will inevitably stop working and you’ll lose control of your lights. Mine didn’t even come with a physical on/off switch, so I have no way to turn my lights on. Avoid at all costs.

## Most praised reviews (7 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Makes controlling your landscape lights a breeze!

*2018-04-28, version 1.5.5*

Simple yet powerful app for control of landscape lights via a smart Bluetooth transformer. Love it!

### 5/5 — Very Helpful

*2015-11-14, version 1.0.2*

This is a great app it a very helpful! 😊

### 4/5 — Bluetooth, ugg

*2019-07-03, version 1.7.1*

The app works fine. I have some intermittent issues connecting to the Bluetooth transformer and have to be in the general location to connect. Sometimes it connects right away and other times it just fails to connect without rebooting my iPhone. It can be wonky.

I find the choice of using bluetooth, especially the new multicolored light as questionable. You always have to be within 30 ish feet to connect and consequently at home to make changes.

If Alliance had used WiFi and put the lights/transformer on the LAN, they would be available anywhere in my home and potentially outside of my home too. Hoping this becomes an option with future hardware.

### 4/5 — Decent

*2018-09-01, version 1.5.6*

Apparently, swiping refreshes...not tapping.

### 3/5 — Cannot Connect: Update

*2023-04-23, version 1.7.6*

I’m revising my previous rating to reflect a realization.

Compared with the previous app, you now have to “pull down” on the screen after opening the app to initiate a connection. This is fine but the old app did not require this (it connected to nearby transformers immediately without user action) and there is no indication in the new app that you need to do this.

It would be worth adding something indicting that you need to pull down to connect. Otherwise the app works fine.

### 3/5 — Ok but can’t figure out how to stop program

*2021-01-15, version 1.7.3*

We recently had a patio installed in our back yard and the timer is set for dusk til midnight. We haven’t had any issues with it so far but since it’s now winter we don’t go out there and want to save the electricity and leave the lights off. We cannot figure out how to cancel the program for the winter or set a different program like the “event” image shown for the app. Limited capabilities but for dusk to midnight or dusk to dawn it works no problem.

### 2/5 — Frustrating.

*2024-08-22*

Doesn’t matter the device you use or how close you are. Trying to connect to the timer via Bluetooth is soooo infuriating. I have held my phone right up to the transformer and the other Alliance timer I have I have and it won’t find it. The one out of 15 times it will connect, It’ll often times crash and then you have to start over. I have a cheap Amazon sprinkler timer that uses WiFi and it connects quickly and easily. Way better than these really expensive timers you sell.

You get two stars only because the program functionally is nice and works well. But it’s almost impossible to turn it on manually.
