### 2/5 — It's crashtastic!

*2025-03-08*

Almost anything makes it crash.

😢

### 2/5 — Unstable

*2024-12-31*

The app itself is good but its ridiculously unstable and crashes very often. I would rate this 5 stars if it didn’t crash so much

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback. We're checking those crashes now. We'd appreciate if you provide more information about them at https://alloylauncher.freshdesk.com/support/home

### 3/5 — A good idea needs improvement

*2023-04-05*

It is a good idea, but a very confusing app. Difficult to use.

### 4/5 — difficult interface

*2019-04-22*

this is totally confusing app

### 2/5 — Too much more than expected

*2019-02-21*

I retired as an IT specialist and this app needs a full manual prior to use. Apple’s own scripting tool is far easier.

This is represented as an easy app and it most assuredly is not. Finding info piecemeal in your help is no replacement for a manual. C++ was easier!

### 3/5 — Has Great potential

*2019-02-19*

A little confusing. Still not able to change weather to local city. This app will go far if I can add my own apps that I have on my phone rather than installing and paying for new ones.

**Developer response:** Update:

FYI: We've released Alloy v2.4.7, which includes updated Weather action. It uses a different weather data provider so it is functional again. To make it working:

1. Update Alloy.

2. Delete current Weather action:

 - Long press on it

- Choose the Delete from the popup menu.

3. Install updated Action:

- Tap the "+" button at the left-top corner of the app

- Choose the "All Actions | Samples | Weather" action.

+++++++
Thank you for your feedback.

To change the location for a Weather Action you should long press on the action, wait for a context menu to popup and then choose the Reset. Though it should pickup your current location by default...

Unfortunately, we've just discovered that Yahoo discontinued its weather channel. That's why our Weather Action stopped working properly. We are currently changing the action to let it use a different weather provider. A fix will be provided as soon as we can. Please stay tuned.

### 3/5 — Probably useful but...

*2018-12-28, version 2.4.4*

The help UI isn’t friendly for non programmers even if they have a good grasp of logic. Would be better if some of the pre-made shortcuts were explained by someone who knew mote about “beginner’s mind.”
Step-by-step
Even Reverse engineered code.

I gave 3 stars because the app is probably useful — maybe very much so, but “powerful” is about more than feature set. The true power is in an average user’s ability to make use of it.

Great concept. Best of luck.

### 2/5 — Looks good, but...

*2018-09-13*

I’ve got Cupertino displayed front and center in the app, which would be fine, except that I live several states away from there. I’ve clicked on about everything I can find to change the location to, you know, WHERE I LIVE, but either that isn’t an option, or it’s very well hidden. I’m done fooling with it.

**Developer response:** You should Reset your action. To do it:
1. Turn ON the Edit mode by taping the Edit button at the top-right corner of the app.
2. Show context menu for an action of your interest by taping the arrow button at the top-right of the action.
3. Choose Reset.

Or you can use 3D Touch:
1. Firm press an action to show the Action Preview.
2. Swipe up to show context menu.
3. Choose Reset.

### 3/5 — Useful, but has a bad desing

*2018-04-09*

This application seems very good, but it fails in the design. The design is ugly and you do not want to use it. If you improve the design (please, you have to redesing the folders), and also improve the design of the interface, it would be a 5-star app. Nowadays design is very important, you can not leave it apart.

**Developer response:** We appreciate your feedback! You can tweak many things in UI to meet your taste: change background or wallpaper, make icons square, make folders translucent etc. Please contact our support if you like to share your thoughts in greater details.

### 1/5 — App Crashes when adding contact in group sms

*2016-11-20, version 1.7.2*

App Crashes when adding contact in group sms

### 4/5 — Underrated

*2016-06-19, version 1.7.0*

Most people don't know this app exists but the developers keep plugging along adding new features. It goes as deep as you likely need.

### 3/5 — Powerful and steep

*2016-04-28*

This app has somewhat more powerful and deep workflow options than its competitors Workflow and Launchpad Pro. But unlike those apps this comes with a steep learning curve which may be prohibitive for many casual users. If you are into coding and app developing then this is perfect, otherwise beware the extreme effort this app may take to actually use.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Only works with set list of apps

*2020-09-24, version 2.6.1*

Disappointed to find it will not work with any app installed on the phone, it will only interact with a set list.

We grabbed this app hoping it could interact with some of our control apps and help centralise and automate devices around the home.

### 1/5 — URL

*2019-05-01*

How u get the URL when you add apps. If u don’t have the URL. Impossible to add it or ask to install.

### 1/5 — Don’t like

*2019-04-23*

It has changed everything on my phone colors all my pictures looks like faded out blue aliens and I don’t know how to fix this. And it’s very difficult app.

### 1/5 — Poor

*2019-04-23, version 2.4.8*

Being someone who writes a lot of shortcuts, this “could” be a powerful app, unfortunately it does not appear that I can reset the system preferences to my default UK, so unless I move to the USA it seems pointless to continue working or investing time with this. In addition I use an iPad Pro 3rd gen but don’t seem to be able to use it’s full display to write a new action. It has potential but I don’t feel inclined to invest the time at this stage.

### 1/5 — Keeps defaulting to the wrong city

*2019-02-27*

Keep having to reset my city & info. It’s a home page for information but if it keeps defaulting to the wrong city then the information is pretty much useless.

An app is horribly designed if you keep having to reset basic entries in order for it to function.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback.

I suppose you are talking about the Weather action. It is broken in your version because Yahoo stopped providing the weather data. We've released Alloy v2.4.7, which includes updated Weather action.

### 1/5 — Not for the faint of heart

*2018-12-29*

If you’re expecting a launcher that’s easy to set up and user friendly, THIS AINT IT!!
CIS majors may have better luck. It’s similar to creating macros for a database and if you are fortunate to know how to do that, you should be ok. I see now why they were trying to give it away for free a couple of days ago. Forget trying to use their help files, very detailed, for CIS majors only though. Save your money. Your time is move valuable

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback! Actually you are not required to be a pro in CIS :). You can use ready-to-use Actions just by installing them from the Action Directory in several taps. Or you can start with your own Action just by setting its icon, title and dropping several Tasks together. That's it! Certainly, making complex Actions do require some learning... Making more complex Actions do require some basic understanding of main programming concepts. But you are not required to go this way until you need and want it. With Alloy you can start small and grow big.

### 1/5 — Too complicated

*2018-09-13, version 2.3.0*

Complicated.

### 1/5 — Unworkable

*2018-05-19, version 2.1.2*

Sadly this is entirely unworkable unless you have a PhD in advanced programming. Insanely complex, not user friendly at all and with instructions which are very badly translated into English.

### 1/5 — Too difficult to use

*2018-05-04*

I used to program computers for a living for a few decades and I find I cannot navigate the actions to learn how to modify them (say, to change the clock from Cupertino to my home location, or to change a stock quote from Microsoft to some other stock) or create my own actions.

A detailed tutorial of these subjects would go a long way to making it usable to non-programmers. Video tutorials would be another way to go.

**Developer response:** We appreciate your feedback! Alloy provides you extensive help topics for all the aspects of running and designing actions and workflows.

When in app: You can get help in almost any screen by taping the Help button. Or you can access various help resources in the "Settings | Help" screen:

- "Introduction": shows a short presentation that covers major aspects of app use
- "Install Sample Actions": installs sample actions to showcase major areas of automation
- "Help Topics": shows the help topics for everything Alloy could provide
- "Integration with Alloy": shows how to integrate Alloy with other apps
- "Feedback": sends feedback by email
- "Support": opens Alloy's support site in the Web Browser
- "Website":opens Alloy's Web site in the Web Browser
- "About": shows version copyright and credits

### 1/5 — This is crap

*2018-04-10*

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

Thanks for the update….

### 5/5 — Fabulous app

*2019-04-22*

Thanks for this amazing app. If you want to make some great shortcuts this app best and only app.

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2019-03-24, version 2.4.7*

If you know what you are doing this is the most amazing app.

### 5/5 — An amazing level of functionality

*2019-01-05*

Alloy is a keeper and improve productivity to new levels. I can’t believe I haven’t discovered it earlier.
The depth of possibilities is endless, and it is well thought out by providing all the utility actions to build complex workflows.
Yes it's not easy at first to acclimate to the interface, but it is inversely proportional to its capabilities. A really great job to the developpers!

### 5/5 — Alloy: useful and effortless

*2018-06-25*

Alloy, in a short time, has become indispensable. Easy to use, a UI that is flexible, a UX that is pleasing; Alloy should rise above other similar apps. Perhaps the best of Alloy is the tech team! They provided a brilliant solution before the app developer had responded to my questions.

Alloy, essential launcher and workflow app, smooth, easy to use and responsive tech support. Some of the best help I have received.

Thank you Alloy team.

### 5/5 — Hdbdjxms

*2018-04-10*

Have to write url scheme and what if you do know what the url is🙁🙁🙁🙁🙁🙁🙁

### 5/5 — I like it

*2017-06-01, version 2.0.0*

I really like it, deserves more reviews

### 5/5 — Incredible app

*2017-05-01, version 1.7.5*

A bit of a learning curve, but this app is incredibly powerful and irreplaceable.

### 5/5 — Still getting my feet wet

*2015-11-24, version 1.3.1*

But pretty sure this this is a keeper and I can say this is very interesting.
Going Well

### 5/5 — Has ideas from other apps, adds many of its own

*2015-11-22*

Alloy is an app launcher/workflow automator that uses some of the same ideas as other apps--Launch Center Pro, Workflow, Drafts, Schemes, and Editorial--for automation on iOS. It also adds many ideas of its own, such as persistent variables that store data between action executions and installation workflows that run the first time an action is executed. The developer is amazingly responsive to questions, bug reports, and feature requests. There is a lot about the app to learn, but the documentation is comprehensive and well-organized. The app is quite fun to tinker with. If you like any of the apps that I mentioned above, you owe it to yourself to check it out.
