### 4/5 — Great free app

*2026-02-03*

Love this app for keeping all the recipes I bookmark all over social media in one place. Easy to use and I like that it includes the link to the source. The ingredient list does get a little wonky so I don’t really go by that and just go to the original page. I love how you can make folders

**Developer response:** Thank you so much - I’m really glad you’re enjoying it and that the folders + source links are helpful!

We’re rolling out a rebuilt recipe parsing system shortly that should significantly improve ingredient accuracy. It’s been a big focus for us.

I really appreciate you taking the time to leave this - feedback like this helps us keep improving.

### 5/5 — Organized grocery list

*2025-11-02*

Ability to create and save multiple grocery lists from meal plans

### 5/5 — The absolute best app!!!

*2025-10-21*

I love this app!! It can literally import so many recipes!! One thing I’d like to see is bulk paprika import + being able to fetch a link from sharing a pin!!

### 5/5 — Just what I needed in the kitchen

*2025-10-07*

I’m so used to just saving recipes on socials that I’ll never go back to but now I can easily just export them to Allspice and actually follow through !!

### 5/5 — Great app

*2025-07-18, version 1.02.10*

Love it. Exactly what I’ve been looking for!

### 5/5 — Saves home cooks time

*2025-04-30, version 1.01.06*

I'd be scared to know how much time I've wasted searching social media channels and digging through cookbooks to locate the recipe I'm looking for. Importing recipes to Allspice is easy and creates a centralized database of recipes from across the growing number of media options (NYT, TikTok, instagram, YouTube, cookbooks, etc). Half the time social media cooking videos don't even have the recipe written out - allspice solves that too, giving you a written recipe to easily go back to next time you cook.

### 5/5 — Best recipe app on the App Store.

*2025-04-24*

I literally never write reviews on apps but I saw Allspice on Instagram and decided I would try it out. I save my recipes literally everywhere and I can never track them down. I was using another cooking app that only allowed me to upload a couple of recipes before I had to pay so I never got to save all my recipes in the app. Allspice lets you upload as many as you want FOR FREE! You can take a recipe from TikTok, Instagram, anywhere and it will create a recipe for you and save it to your account. There’s a community to share recipes, and you can grocery shop and manage your “pantry”. It’s hard to believe this app just came out. It looks and feels really good. Literally going to use this all the time.

**Developer response:** Hi Zhane - thank you for the feedback. We're working on improving the app and adding new features every day, so keep an eye out!

### 5/5 — Best Cooking App!

*2025-04-22*

Allspice is a game-changer for home cooks! I love how easy it is to share recipes with friends and family, and the ingredient tracking feature helps me avoid buying duplicates. The interface is clean and intuitive, and it’s made meal planning way more efficient. Highly recommend!

### 5/5 — Easy to Use

*2025-04-22*

Was using a different recipe organizer & I find that Allspice is more user friendly & has more features. Easy to import all my recipes. Five stars!

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2025-04-13, version 1.01.03*

I love using this app to save all my recipes from instagram

### 1/5 — Lots of Bugs and Poor UI

*2026-07-15*

This app has a ton of bugs in it and lot’s of issues. There is no way to close out the tutorial or not show the getting started sections if you do not want to go through it. The Mac OS app just shows a white screen and does not load. There is no way to select the ingredients in the recipe steps, only some get highlighted by some AI thing and it misses a bunch of them each time. There should just be a family account, instead you have to share each “cook book (folder)”, pantry and shopping list to share them with family members. There is no way to add custom tags or modifiers or categories like you can in Paprika. You are forced to see “Saved, Imported and Posted “folders at the top of the library page. Taking a photo of the recipe does not work on my iPhone, but you can import saved images. When importing it makes up some AI description of the recipe for zero reason.

### 1/5 — Was once great, not anymore.

*2026-02-04*

Siiiigh, I loved Allspice, used it a long time. But the whole reason I downloaded it was to avoid ad-ridden websites that showed you weird and often disgusting ads that are probably one accidental click away from a virus.

But now, you have to view the websites to see the instructions, it no longer lets you avoid virus bait websites. I understand wanting to support cooks, but you’re turning against your own supporters in the process.

### 1/5 — Importing doesn’t work

*2025-04-26, version 1.01.05*

Tried twice and both failed

### 2/5 — Does not work

*2026-05-25*

I really like the concept but it works about 20% of the time. Sometimes it won’t even import a recipe at all other times the recipe is not even close to what the video said.

### 2/5 — No Longer Worth the Download

*2026-01-26*

This was once a great app. However, the creators recently decided to make it so that you can’t see the steps of the recipe without going to the website. This means you can’t adjust the amount of the recipe you are making either. Another issue is that if you have multiple steps and it uses the same ingredient in two different parts it jut combines it. For example, a cake recipe that includes frosting. If they both include 1 cup of sugar it will just say 2 cups of sugar for the cake which can get confusing. You can’t edit this either as it won’t let you enter the same ingredient twice.

With this new update this app is pretty much useless. Unless you want something to simply hold the websites for all your recipes which you can easily do on the notes app don’t bother.

### 2/5 — Further Investigation is Sus

*2026-01-04*

I was really impressed and excited at first with this app. But I had a few questions about it, including some discrepancies about what was offered in the free vs premium versions (different places say different things). I went to send an email to the company, and it was returned because the email address was not real. Soooo I'm beginning to think this is a fake app. I don't want to spend hours importing and editing all my recipes just to have them lost when it stops working.

**Developer response:** Thanks so much for sharing this feedback - and we’re really sorry for the confusion and frustration.

We recently updated our website and, for a short time, the support email address was unfortunately entered incorrectly. That issue has been fixed, and you can now reach us anytime at support@allspicelabs.com, or directly in the app using the Contact Support or Feedback buttons.
We also want to clarify the free vs. premium features. Importing recipes, editing recipes, grocery lists, and meal planning are completely free. Premium features are pantry tracking, searching recipes based on ingredients or proteins, creating more than a certain number of recipe folders, and additional dietary insights on recipes

Importing your recipes will always be free - that’s a core commitment for us, and it’s something we care deeply about. We genuinely want this app to be a safe, long-term home for your recipes, not something you invest time into and then lose.

We’d truly love to have you with us, and we’re always happy to answer questions or concerns directly. Thank you again for giving us a try and for helping us improve.

### 2/5 — Good idea, bad execution

*2025-12-15*

I love being able to import recipes. I heavily dislike the current setup. It is difficult to manage and create recipes. Editing imported recipes is a hassle because it glitches out. Sometimes when I try to delete words on the steps, the app will try to paste my clipboard. When trying to update a recipe with the correct ingredients and the correct amounts, it won’t save and update.
Additionally, you can’t organize ingredients. You can’t sort them or move them around. You can’t have multiple of the same ingredient for the different parts of the recipe (e.g. using x amount of milk for making sauce and y amount of milk for marinating).
It’s less of a hassle to just hand write the recipe at this point.

**Developer response:** Thank you much for taking the time to write this - I’m really sorry for the frustration here. You’re absolutely right that recipe editing needs to be more flexible and reliable.

I’ve just fixed the clipboard bug you mentioned, and added several improvements based directly on this feedback: the ability to reorder ingredients while editing or creating a recipe, support for adding the same ingredient multiple times, and the option to save recipes without requiring quantities for every ingredient. I’m also investigating the issue where changes weren’t saving correctly. These fixes are going out in our next update, which should be available by the end of the week.

You also raised a good point about separating ingredients by usage (like “for the sauce” vs “for the meatballs”). That’s something we intentionally held back to keep things simple, but your feedback makes it clear that would be useful to have.

We’re a small team, and while we test heavily, we can’t catch everything without real-world use. We genuinely appreciate hearing this, and hope you’ll give the app another try after the update. Additionally, if you have any more ideas or run into issues, you can always reach us directly through the in-app feedback or our support email (we read everything).

### 3/5 — Has potential, however…

*2026-02-21*

I downloaded this because the creator is on Reddit talking about how the app is mostly free with just a few upgradable features like tracking macros/etc. I’m not sure if they changed their mind, but it says “Import unlimited recipes” as a feature for premium. So… there’s a limit? That’s not mostly free. I don’t even know the limit - a little transparency would be nice.

The homepage is a mess and makes me not want to use the app. First of all, there’s a banner up advertising a future AI Personal Assistant. Not only do I have zero interest in using an assistant, but it’s not even usable right now! So why is the banner taking up so much space? I hope they include a way to “close this option and not bring it back unless I ask” feature.
The homepage also has a million things it wants you to “start.” Like it’s in tutorial mode. But it’s asking me to do all these things I have no interest in using the app for (import recipe from text, start a cookbook for example.) it’s taking up all this space for nothing. I wish there was a way to end tutorial mode or close out of these. When I open an app I want to get to what I came there for an not be overloaded by it basically begging me to try new features.

Idk, I was just really looking forward to downloading this after seeing the creator boast about it on Reddit. So to open it up and be inundated with tutorials for simple tasks, unwanted AI chats, and unclear expectations for the free vs premium versions (and to be clear - I have no problem paying for apps and supporting creators. But I need to know that the additional features are actually worth it and I certainly don’t want to pay for an AI analysis of recipes - especially if I can’t opt out of seeing it or unnecessarily generating things I don’t need.)

I’ll give it a few more days and adjust my review if needed. But in the meantime I’m going to keep an eye out for a simple recipe app that just lets me import and view my recipes. That’s literally all I’m asking for lol.

### 3/5 — The recipes are wrong

*2026-02-15, version 1.04.04*

Sometimes they work but not usually

### 4/5 — Nice Indie Recipe App

*2026-03-06, version 1.05.01*

EDIT: I’ve updated my review from 3 to 4 stars. I will use it more often and update again with more details! But I highly recommend everyone giving it a download if you’re looking for a way to import and store recipes!

I initially had some issues with the app, and I’m very impressed with the developer’s response to critique and fast update to reflect their promises! They addressed several of my concerns and opening the app again I was immediately so much more interested in continuing to use the app. I’ve had good experiences with the import recipe feature and now it’s all on my homepage for easy reference without having to scroll around through features that didn’t interest me.

There is also much more clarity on what comes with the premium version/what is free. I’m happy to say that it is a very usable free app and so far do not feel pushed to upgrade. I might do so in the future since tracking my macros is appealing - my lifestyle just doesn’t need it at the moment.

I’m keeping my previous notes because I think the way they responded was commendable & it highlights why we should support indie developers!

### 5/5 — Developer cares about the experience

*2026-08-12*

I love that this app is genuinely useful without being a money grab like a lot of other apps like this. You can do unlimited recipe saves without paying money and i love the organization. You can have up to 5 folders for free too which is plenty for me. I have folders “dinner, dessert, breads, breakfast, snacks”. It saves quickly and accurately and i love that it has the original link right on top too so i can go see the Instagram video or whatever it is conveniently. This developer is also great at taking feedback and applying it. Thanks for making a great and accessible app!

### 5/5 — Love it so far!

*2026-07-28*

I saw someone talking about this app on a reddit thread. Exactly what I was looking for and don’t need to pay to import recipes. Awesome!!

### 5/5 — Good alternative, free tier is great

*2026-04-02*

Would love an option to bulk import from social media e.ga saved folder of recipes on Instagram, as well as the option to share recipes as a pdf rather than a link for printing out!

### 5/5 — Game changer

*2026-03-06, version 1.05.01*

Best APP ever. Grabs everything from instagram, what a great creation

### 5/5 — First thoughts

*2026-01-31*

Loving the look of this new app. Can’t wait to get to grips with it and see if I can hopefully switch to using it in time.

Please can you add a way to remove a recipe so you never see it again if you don’t like it for some reason. For example, if I currently click the heart as if I don’t like it, the recipe is still recorded in my imports. It’s the only recipe I’ve imported (trying things out) but apparently I still have it two times in the import list. Likewise if you customise a recipe, you should be able to remove them too, which currently is impossible.

Additionally, the ability to rename recipes you have imported and / or customised would be great, as depending on where in the world you are things are called differently. For example the recipe I imported is called crock pot but in the UK we call them slow cookers. It will make it easier to share with family.

My final thought is, please make the font on the ingredients list larger. Having measurements in fractions are extremely hard to read.

Thanks!

### 5/5 — Free Recipe Extractor that Actually Works!

*2026-01-30*

I tried so many of these apps and this is the only one that works and doesn’t try to charge you for the basic feature of importing recipes!

### 5/5 — Pantry is a game changer

*2026-01-25*

I used Paprika for years. I loved the idea of the pantry, but it didn’t automatically track what I have on hand. Allspice does exactly this. We buy meat from a farm so have a lot of stock in the freezer. This has been great for meal planning and it subtracts the amounts when you mark the recipe as made. It also adds to the pantry from the grocery list. It’s amazing. No issues so far with the import feature and the few issues I’ve had, support team is super responsive to and open to suggestions.

### 5/5 — Amazing App

*2026-01-10*

It’s a great app that does exactly what you want it to do and doesn’t require any payment. So it’s truly free and works exceptionally well!!! Highly recommend, especially for those who love saving recipes from instagram or other social media app.

### 5/5 — So helpful! & question

*2026-01-05*

Me and my husband love to share recipe folders and grocery lists. When will it be available on recipe websites? I saw a one of your instagram posts

### 5/5 — Importing recipes from IG!

*2026-01-02*

So far, I’ve just been importing all my saved recipes from IG. I had been researching another recipe app that I saw on IG but came across a Reddit thread and the developer mentioned their Allspice app as an option to try. So far, I’m impressed just by the ability to import all the recipes I’ve been saving on social
media - so much easier to have the recipes on a dedicated app & I love that the app lists out the ingredients and steps from the videos so I don’t have to watch and write them down. Thanks for the free version of this app!
