Because of this I do not receive the emails that I need to receive with my LAANC authorizations. I cannot seem to find a way to change my email address. I can change everything else on my profile except that. Someone please tell me how I can change my email address so that I can receive the proper notifications other than the short form on a text message. Other than that, this is an awesome app and a loft has done an amazing job at making my job easier! I have been flying drones commercially for over five years now and I am very impressed and relieved that aloft is there and able to help my day-to-day tasks of getting the approvals when I need them. **Developer response:** Hi there. Thanks for flying Aloft! ### 3/5 — Reliably fast LAANC, but room for obvious improvements *2022-05-16, version 9.31* Preflight section is very good, although I wonder why it doesn't feature everything B4YFLY does and be done with that bizarre overlap of the two apps. LAANC authorizations are easy to get, although changing the default area markers on the map should be made less awkward!! Why are my authorizations listed under Assets..?? They should be found under Activity. Also, Profile > Version always says there is an update available when there isn't - who is programming such a nonsense? Lastly, it would be great if authorized areas be made available to other apps like DJI Fly so that those can seamlessly display them on their map and provide flight clearance based on LAANC, not on DJI's additional annoying questionnaire. ### 3/5 — Wish it worked in Uk and Europe *2022-04-21* Downloaded this and quickly realised the airspace map doesn’t work anywhere other than the US, such a shame as it actually looks really helpful as i’ve had times where i’ve gone somewhere to fly and realised only when i try to take off that it’s restricted airspace. Hopefully the devs have plans to include the Uk and europe🙏 ### 3/5 — Enjoying the app minus the sync issues *2022-02-24, version 9.31* I cannot find much info to help me know if I’m doing something wrong but the app doesn’t seem to sync flights from the DJI Fly app. If I log into Aloft on a web browser I can see some of the flights from 9 months ago stuck in a queued status. The help article on the Aloft site didn’t provide much information. I was hoping this might be a bug but the fact that I have 9 month old flights not being imported makes me think it’s a compatibility issue. They don’t show up as failed imports either. Sync status on the app shows all zeroes. ### 4/5 — Wow *2021-11-23, version 9.31* As a new recreational drone pilot I have been a bit overwhelmed. There’s a lot more that goes into flying a drone safely and legally than I realized. I stumbled across Aloft and thank goodness I did! What a great tool. Not only does it make it super simple to request authorization to fly in controlled airspace, but it also provides real time data on weather, wind, and other air traffic including type, speed, altitude and heading, all in a super friendly layout. One thing I wish this app had is an in-app tutorial. I’m still trying to learn on my own how to use the different features. For example, why is it showing me drones that are 2000 miles away in my Active Traffic list? I’m on the East Coast and it shows me drones flirting in California in my active traffic. I’m also trying to figure out if there’s a way to sync the app with my DJI app so that my authorizations go to my drone app and my drone knows it’s authorized to take off. Like I said. I’m a new pilot and still trying to figure out how a lot of this works and a tutorial for each feature would be great. Apart from having to figure everything out on my own, I’ve found Aloft to be very user friendly and useful! It’s a great tool. ### 3/5 — Not bad. Needs a lot of work *2021-10-21, version 9.31* So it works like most. Two major issues. If you’re working in airspace. The area for the LAANC approve can only be a box. Either add more points. Or make it so you can draw it out with your finger. Two. Starting TFRs a full day early is obnoxious. I live in Delaware. Biden is here way too much and instead 2-3 days I lose 3-4. Making it impossible to work. The software is usually reliable. Coming from other programs it’s just getting used to a new layout. Overall. The two things I listed are worth a full star to me. ### 4/5 — My favorite app for drone flights *2021-09-12, version 9.31* Great app! Love using it for airspace reviews and logging of equipment. One suggestion would be to add ADSB data so that when I start a flight, any aircraft within let’s say 2 miles triggers the app to announce that there is an aircraft within 2 miles with the altitude and callsign. Add this and the app will be a true jack of all trades. Seriously has made my flight planning and execution so easy and stress free. ### 3/5 — Has potential *2021-09-11, version 9.31* It seems to have potential, lots of great info and data at your fingertips, but… I could not change the map to be gps, and where I am (souther along the Gulf Coast) a lot of the roads and landmarks are not visible in the generic map. I was able to drop a pin or something when I first jumped on which was useful when trying to get info about an area, but then out of nowhere I could not do that anymore. Some of the other things seem a little complicated, but maybe I would just need to play around a little more. Thanks for flying Aloft. ### 3/5 — Trouble Drawing LAANC Auth Area on Map *2021-04-30, version 9.20* I have been trying to layout the intended LAANC Auth region on the map, and I can only get it to zoom in and out, hardly ever being able to change the shape of the region (I managed to get one corner to move one time over several days). I have tried on iOS, iPadOS, and with an Apple Pencil 2. Like I said the map’s region controls are just poorly implemented. This limits me to requesting a square region and only at a particular size. Luckily, I can place the center at a particular point and get some use from it. Please re-visit the way iOS/iPadOS handles the creation of the LAANC Map region. **Developer response:** Hi there. Find it a bit confusing in various sections and it’s a bit intimidating to put into use for a new pilot. There should be some instructional help or links to videos on it’s proper usage. Provides excellent basic information but so does B4UFLY. This app has a significant learning curve to be able to use it competently. Overall it’s very clean and well organized. No idea what some icons represent. It really needs a instructional guide for new pilot introduction. ### 4/5 — “First name” field when creating account is formatted wrong *2020-09-28, version 9.17* This app is highly promoted by Pilot Institute and does everything you need it to. But right on signing up, the first name field doesn’t accept more than 10 characters, hyphens or spaces. My name is Jean-Frederic. Sorry, but that’s not my fault. Nothing like a little frustration right from the beginning. There are a lot of people with non-English language names flying out there. Thanks. ### 4/5 — Very Good App *2020-07-17, version 9.14* The user interface of this app is so much better than Airm*p. The information and icons of Kittyhawk are organized in an intuitive and logical way. I can view all relevant information before making decisions to apply for permission to fly. The process of applying for permission to fly is also so much easier in Kittyhawk than the other app. Logging into Kittyhawk can be done with either facial recognition on my iPhone or fingerprint on my iPad. This process does not depend on availability of internet. So when I am in an area with no cellphone coverage, I can still fly using Kittyhawk. The only reason I don’t give five stars is that this app only allows rectilinear regions for flying in. The other app lets me draw out my flight boundaries with my fingers. Hopefully, Kittyhawk will add this ability in future updates. ### 5/5 — Great app for LAANC approvals. *2020-05-14, version 9.13* Have been using KittyHawk for a few months now with great results. Navigating on the site is easy, and instructions are clear and precise. The 'other' app I was using was NOT user friendly, and would lock up during flight planning. KittyHawk has been great. Still working on tweaking the parameters a bit, but overall a great Drone app. ### 4/5 — User account bugged *2020-05-07* I use the app in Canada, works for tracking flights however, the sync to the web is buggy. When I added my drones in the app the sync all add part of the data and broke my login - deleting the drones on the website fixed the problem. Otherwise the app is great for tracking my flights. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Very poor support *2022-10-05, version 10.0.1* Really needed this app for drone operations, but I’ve run into a problem with my password and I can’t reset it. The Forgot Password link takes me to a page to download the app. Not helpful. I went onto the website and searched for help resetting the password, but the link there was broken. So, I can’t sign in and can’t fix the password problem in any other way, apparently. I need the same sign in to use Air Control for LAANC, so can’t access that either, which is an additional problem. I’m not at all sure why the devs have set things up this way. Why bother building an app that people can’t effectively use? Weather and flight conditions works great. Importing from DJI flight log is in accurate and almost worthless. My DJI 4 go app shows that I have 34 hours of flight time. The Aloft app shows that I have 50 hours. I fly with the DJI app not the Aloft app. I did fly 2-3 flights 1 minute long with the aloft app and that information did not make it back to the DJI log. The heading information for the drone does not accurately transfer to the Aloft app. Imports from DJI randomly get duplicated in the aloft app. This creates inaccuracies. Tech support knows this is an issue and assures that updates are coming. I have yet to see updates. ### 1/5 — Does not work with DJI Mini 2 *2021-02-14, version 9.18* I downloaded this app because it said it had integration with DJI drones. It also said it could sync flight data. It does, just not with the DJI Mini 2. They do not explicitly say it does not work with the Mini 2, and it took me hours of trouble shooting and searching to determine that the reason the app was not importing flights or seeing my drone was because they did not support it. One star review because I wasted hours determining this when all they could have done was put somewhere in the app description “Does not work with DJI Mini 2”. You might want to add that as a bullet point so people don’t was hours troubleshooting only to find out this was the reason. **Developer response:** Hi, Tim. Re the Mini 2, the DJI SDK does not yet support this aircraft, but once it does, we'll work to get it integrated into Kittyhawk so that you can streamline your airspace, fleet, and inflight needs together. ### 1/5 — No Transparent Pricing Structure Due to Greedy App Developers *2020-01-05, version 9.10* I really hate that it had the promise of putting in LAANC applications but really the only time it matters is when I need authorization when going above a nofly zone. When I do it, you have to contact “the sales team” which it has been weeks waiting for reply.. As a person that does drone real estate on the side, normally when you have to contact a sales team that means either they are price gouging or its too expensive to display on a sticker due to sticker shock. You guys got a grant from the FAA to develop their app which I bet is a good pretty penny so not sure why they are using these shady sales tactics for something that should be a free feature! Once I paid, I updated the app to the latest version and it hasn't worked since. It literally hangs, crashes & locks up my device every time I try to use it. I have deleted and reinstalled it multiple times so I can contact support who have been completely useless. At this point, I would never use flightdeck to fly my drone through this app because I couldn't trust it to continue operations. I hope this issue gets resolved quickly, but at this point, I completely regret wasting my time & money on this App. ### 1/5 — Number of problem *2017-05-14* Number of problems : 1:Fights appear on the app that don't exist and you cannot delete it. 2:App doesn't synchronise everything i.e. When you log a flight you add the batteries that were used when you go onto the desktop this hasn't been synchronised. The web page is it any better, it doesn't allow you to delete maintenance records so if you make a mistake tough. Doesn't update battery cycles and last flight details. I didn't even get passed the 2nd page as it kept saying I was missing data. If fixed I'm sure the hard work that's gone into this will help lots of people. **Developer response:** This is an old bug. We release almost weekly and you'll see a ton of new features. We've probably done dozens of updates since then. Check out the latest. It's hot and just what drone pilots need :) ### 2/5 — Had so much potential *2022-09-05, version 9.31* No updates have been provided to this app in a year or more. While I understand enterprise ventures are the real money maker, it’s a shame the ball has been dropped for the classic version of this product. DJI sync continues to be problematic and the web interface does not effectively talk with app. Integrated web browser is near unusable when searching/viewing documents. The only thing that could make it better is if you could validate if anyone has an approved UAS flight plan within a designated area. We live in Class C airspace, 3 miles from international airport and I was able to prove to my neighbors you cannot get approval to recreational fly a UAS from our property Willy nilly. My husband is not only a military fixed wing, rotary and military UAS pilot and tried to explain to them the rules. I thought it was easy to ask for a drone. Never dawned on me FAA would have some sort of say. With all this studying stuff, I’m glad Kittyhawk is around! I guess a $1500 drone isn’t a toy so much. Having some career roots in aerospace maintenance and manufacturing, have an appreciation for the maintenance records part of Kittyhawk. There’s always something to keep track of in aerospace, being a drone owner threw me into the mix now too. But the view at 400ft AGL is so worth it. Now, what to do about them pesky raptors that are bigger than my UAS.
