As someone who has had two kids so far that aren’t sleepers, being able to chat, vent, laugh with other moms in the middle of the night has been so reassuring. I never liked texting people in the middle of the night in fear of disturbing their sleep, so to be able to reach out and connect with other moms going through the same thing at the same time has made me feel less lonely and is extremely validating. I think there’s great opportunity to add to this app too. This app is truly a gift! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 3/5 — The Potential Is There *2025-11-02* I downloaded Along The Waves when it first released, I had been anticipating the release and was excited for the potential connections and community that had been advertised. First of all, the ENTIRE app is hidden behind a paywall. I had not been anticipating this, and was really disappointed there wasn’t even an option to have limited access for free. I signed up for the free trial to peruse and there seems to be a ton of really great resources! However every single time I reached out on a message board I was met with crickets. As a nursing mom, I was looking for some connection during those middle of the night feeds and it seemed like there was no one online. Also there is a feature called “porch light” that you can use to show others you’re available for connecting however it does not actually show when someone is actually online. I think that feature would be great, to show you who is awake when you feel alone the most. Overall the potential is there it just needs some tweaks here and there. **Developer response:** Hi Taytor! First of all, I want to thank you for such a thoughtful message. We appreciate you taking the time to provide feedback! I also want to quickly touch on some of your comments. As far as seeing who is online, we have that feature in the "village" when you are scrolling through houses or looking at the list view of moms in a neighborhood, these are actually all the moms who are currently online with you at the same time! It sounds like we need to better clarify this list and have a way to highlight moms who are online and porch lights are on at the same time. Also, regarding the chatrooms, we had a bug in the first few versions where the chatrooms were not functioning the way they should. While we have fixed that bug and the chat rooms are now active and popping off, we are currently in the process of redesigning the chat screen to make the user experience smoother and connect moms faster. One last note on the paywall, we completely hear your feedback there and just want to note that we are a privately funded app, and decided that a small monthly payment with a free trial was the best way to keep the app secure. The encouragement notes are such a thoughtful touch and always brighten my day when they pop up. I also appreciate the potential for meaningful community and support here. The reason I’m giving 4 instead of 5 stars is because I’ve found the interface a bit confusing at times. For example, when trying to explore more chats, I’m often only prompted to create my own chat rather than browse existing ones. I’ve also run into errors when attempting to join certain chats without any explanation of why.
