### 4/5 — Great app

*2025-02-08*

Have been using this app for years and love it, but lately having an issue with adding yarn to project from stash. It just closes down when you choose link to stash. Hope they get this issue fixed because it was a featured I really liked about the app.

### 3/5 — Useful but still glitchy

*2024-02-03*

I use both Alpaca and another app to access Ravelry on my phone. More and more I am preferring the other. Often I cannot find my own completed projects. Searching for a new pattern works well enough but searching for items in my library or queue, not so much. Recently I could not even see a current WIP. And no forum access in Alpaca.

### 3/5 — Yards

*2023-11-07, version 1.10.2*

Stash totals only in yards. 🙁

### 3/5 — Photos don’t load

*2022-09-08*

Photos either don’t load, or take 3+ minutes to appear, making the app almost unusable at times. Still better than desktop Ravelry, however.

### 3/5 — Useful but glitchy

*2022-01-27*

I love this app, I use it all the time. But some of the features seem like they haven’t been fully built out. If you want to save a PDF pattern file on your phone, you get stuck on the file browser view that doesn’t have either a “save” or “cancel” button, so you have to shut down the program to get out of that page. The same thing happens if you try to use the “markup” feature, there are no exit buttons so you can’t leave that setting without shutting down the program. Also the pattern search filter doesn’t work very well, the list of garment types often selects the wrong thing - i.e. if I select “sweaters” and then search, it shows me “tank tops” instead. Still, glad to have this Ravelry-connected app on my phone!

### 4/5 — Love it, but scrawling a lot on iPad recently

*2022-01-01*

I love this app and use it frequently, but am also having a TON of crashes on the iPads…both of them. I add a skein of yarn and it’ll crash, I open a pattern and it’ll crash, I click ON a pattern it will crash.
I really hope they fix it soon because this is definitely the best ravelry companion app out there and I WANT to use it.

### 4/5 — Tolle App

*2021-09-27, version 1.10.2*

### 4/5 — Love, but update glitchy

*2020-11-02, version 1.10.1*

Love this app.
However, The new update caused a lot of glitches. I can’t select any filters now.
I would also love if the next update included a way to self arrange patterns, projects, and stashes so that I could organize them in a way that is more functional for me.

### 4/5 — Glitchy updates

*2020-11-01*

Love the app, but ever since the last update when I click filters for a search, no checkmark appears. They are being selected, as they appear with the search results, but it’s quite frustrating not knowing if I’ve clicked something until I back out.

### 3/5 — Search does not work in new update

*2020-10-29, version 1.10.1*

I updated my app and am unable to choose search option filters. Please fix.

### 4/5 — New bugs with update

*2020-10-27, version 1.10.1*

Love this app but for some reason after update I can’t select filters. Makes search pretty useless

### 4/5 — Love this app but filters stopped working?

*2020-10-25*

I’ve been using this app since it came out and have never had an issue. Within the past week or so the filters feature stopped working. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the app but it didn’t resolve the problem. Sorry for putting this in a review but I couldn’t see another way to contact the developer.

### 3/5 — Something is wrong with this app

*2020-10-25*

I love this app. It has been a great resource for looking up patterns on my phone. The most recent update doesn’t let you set any filters in your searches... I always like to search by yarn weight, pattern availability, and craft as well as using the yarn search to find good projects for a particular yarn I might have. Current update doesn’t allow this at all.

### 4/5 — Love this app but glitchy lately

*2020-09-24*

This is one of my favorite apps on my phone and I definitely spend way too much time perusing and collecting patterns using it. I’ve never had any issues with it before this week, but now whenever I try to click a link within a pattern to another pattern (e.g., I clicked the “grains of good sweater” that was linked within the “grains headband”), it brings me to a pattern called “Library”, which is not at all related (by designer, pattern name, type, etc). Multiple times this has happened on multiple different patterns, always bringing me to the “library” pattern, which is for a sweater vest that, while I’m sure is lovely, I have no intention of making or adding to my pattern collection.

I’ve looked to see if there are app updates (there aren’t) and tried restarting my phone to determine if it’s an issue with my device (it isn’t), all to no avail. My current theory is the designer of the “Library” sweater vest has hacked the app in a subtle way to get her vest pattern out there to the masses haha. But in all seriousness, that glitch aside, this is a great app. If they can fix that bug I will change my rating to 5 stars.

### 4/5 — Please spell words correctly (otherwise this app is great!)

*2020-08-28, version 1.10.0*

I really enjoy using this app, but please please please correct the spelling of the word “favorited” in the app. Everywhere that you can favorite a pattern, it is spelled “favortied” and it distracts me every time I notice it. Thanks!!

### 4/5 — Great App

*2020-06-07, version 1.10.0*

I enjoy this app. However, I wish it also displayed my inventory of knitting needles and crochet hooks from Ravelry. This enhancement would make it a 5-star app for me.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Inappropriate! Parents beware.

*2025-01-19, version 1.13.0*

I’ve had this app on my phone for a bit and recently opened it to find a new pattern and was shocked to find incredibly inappropriate pictures all over the place. Men basically naked lots of dark demon like patterns. I don’t know what happened but this app is terrible and completely unsuitable for any kids at all

### 1/5 — Filters a trash

*2021-09-08, version 1.10.2*

Don’t expect to try and filter search results because even after applying filters they don’t work. I’m tired of seeing all paid patterns when I’m trying to find something for free.

### 1/5 — Awful

*2021-02-03, version 1.10.2*

It takes forever to upload photos, and it’s hard to get a new project to link to yarn in my stash. I’ve had this app for 30 minutes and I’m frustrated.

### 1/5 — Filter buttons don’t work

*2020-10-24, version 1.10.1*

I have been enjoying this app, but recently the filter check boxes are unresponsive. Both my operating system and app are up to date, and all of my other apps are functioning properly. It makes it impossible to do advanced searches for patterns and projects, which is a feature that I use often. If this is a bug, I hope they fix it. I will probably look for another app that talks to Ravelry for now.

### 1/5 — Wish it was usable

*2020-10-17, version 1.10.1*

I used to use this app some but now it won’t even let me filter out patterns that aren’t crochet. It might be fine for pulling up patterns that have already been saved but it’s not worth scrolling through projects I can’t use to try to find the ones I can. Super disappointing. Deleted.

### 2/5 — Disappointed

*2022-05-29, version 1.10.2*

I love this app, but recently it has become unusable. You can’t open any PDF. I tried to contact support, but their website doesn’t load, and they aren’t active on their social media pages. I hope this app wasn’t abandoned

### 2/5 — Filters not working in current version

*2020-10-31, version 1.10.1*

I love this app and it has worked for me until now. I am unable to select any filters on both iPadOS 13/14.1 and iOS 13.7. I use the crochet and picture filters often and not having these making browsing painful.

### 2/5 — New Update Makes App Unusable

*2020-10-26, version 1.10.1*

Filters don’t work at all on the new version, so while I can access patterns already saved, finding new ones is impossible on the mobile platform.

### 2/5 — Latest update broke filters

*2020-10-24, version 1.10.1*

This review is only pertaining to the latest update. Since updating I cannot select any filters. The app is usually great, but when I’m looking for a crochet project I do not want to search through a sea of patterns I cannot use. I’ll be using Ravelry’s website until this is fixed. This app usually rocks!

### 2/5 — Good start, but filtering stopped working

*2020-10-18, version 1.10.1*

Since the latest update, the pattern filters don’t work. I try marking the checkboxes but nothing happens. This is 90% what I use the app for, so it’s a huge negative for me.
Otherwise it’s a nice app and I (used to) use it a lot. A great alternative to the Rav site that causes physical harm to a lot of people.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Nice app, please add support for bundles

*2025-01-27*

This app is functional and easy to use, and I like the way the notebook displays and search functions. My favourites aren’t usable though, because I organise them in bundles, and there doesn’t appear to be support for that. If you add that, this will be my new rav app.

### 5/5 — Love

*2021-02-06*

I love ralvery, I love this app. it’s so easy to use.
The save the PDF file to my phone won’t let me close it and return to my pattern so I must close the app and open and find my pattern again.

### 5/5 — I’m in love

*2021-01-30*

I couldn’t use the new ravelry without having headaches, this app saved me , so intuitive and user friendly I love it so much and use it daily. I never bothered to even upload or filled the projects things on the computer but on this app I use it all the time ! I highly suggest it.

### 5/5 — Great Ravelry App

*2020-11-17*

I love this app. I haven’t tried other apps that work with Ravelry, since this one does almost everything I want for free. I use this app far more often than the website. It’s super easy to use, and it has a more attractive interface than the website. The only thing I’ve wanted to do that I’m not able to is to favorite projects. Sometimes I want to flag a user’s adaptations to a pattern. I can do that on the site, but the app doesn’t allow that. Also, recording yarn info for projects can be a little weird, but I don’t have enough experience with that on the site to compare the two. For browsing, searching, and keeping track of patterns, this app is awesome. I use it every day. Even though I think the app could be improved, I can’t hold back on giving it five stars. And I’m so grateful that it’s free!

### 5/5 — Absolutely love this

*2019-11-30*

I absolutely love being able to go to one place to keep track of all my yarn and projects.
The integration with ravelry is amazing especially since it’s easy to get patterns on the go.

What I would like to see in the future:
* Being able to add patterns that we’ve bought physically from companies like we are knitters and wool and the gang.
* having a way to keep track of rows and such on a pattern

I would be more than amazing would be a standardised way to store patterns so that people could just get instructions on the go whilst also storing one’s place in a pattern.

### 5/5 — 🧶

*2019-01-23, version 1.6.1*

Love it!!!!

### 5/5 — Absolutely love Alpaca!!

*2018-12-03, version 1.5.0*

For me, Alpaca makes getting to my pattern way easier than on the actual Ravelry site. I’m sure that I’ll use other features as time goes on - but so far, I’ve yet to find any fault with it.

### 5/5 — My perfect mobile Ravelry!

*2018-10-30*

Tried it because I wanted to more easily upload photos. Everything is easier! It’s a very intuitive interface and so far (about 10 days in) works like a dream for everything I like to do. It’s handles my photos much better than Ravelry, my stash is at my electronic fingertips and pattern browse is my new rabbit hole.

### 5/5 — Brilliant Ravelry On the Go

*2018-06-25*

This is THE BEST Ravelry app. There are a lot of wonderful things about Ravelry, but their mobile site is not one of them. I was thrilled when Alpaca was released. It is super intuitive, very user friendly, and has a great interface, all things Ravelry severely lacks. I open and use Alpaca at least 5-10 times a day. It has changed my mobile Ravelry game considerably and I now only log on to the actual Ravelry website maybe twice a month. This is a must download for knitters.

### 5/5 — Excellent app!

*2018-03-01, version 1.0.2*

Not only is the app beautifully designed, but it works amazingly. Finally a way to keep track of my projects on the go!
