This app’ must be the worst I have ever used, poor functionality, intermittent faults and you can just never rely on it. How this boiler manufacturer can still be promoting it is beyond me. I struggled all last winter with it, and it looks as if it will be the same saga this winter. It sometimes connects, sometimes doesn’t, requires frequent re installations. It has a mind of its own - it’s more frustrating having something that doesn’t work, have to resort to switching off an on at the boiler.

App has a mind of its own. Great when manually turning heating on but not so great when you turn it back off. Most of the time it looks as though the boilers off yet when you log back into the app or listen to the boiler, nope the boiler is still on! So untrustworthy that it’s actually doing what you want when you want that I never know if the heating will or won’t be off when I ask it to be. Disappointing for the extra price paid.

Looked up the app reviews and it’s rated as rubbish! Sorry for the strong language but it is.

I would advise all customers not to consider installation.

It’s not reliable at all! Gives wrong readings!

All customers are slating it and have said it has a mind of its own and having problems pairing it up with the boiler!

I totally agree with the other comments.

I will be requesting different thermostats and I will log complaint.

Like all the previous reviews the app is useless, so many times I have woken in the night and the house is boiling because the app has turned the heating on when I didn’t even set it, trying to save money on fuel bills is impossible with this app!! At the moment the app isn’t working with no green light despite doing all the usual reset/re-install palaver! The engineer who installed the boiler was confident this was a good system but I will be making him aware of the issues I’ve had and all of these reviews when he comes to service it, hopefully it will put him off installing to future customers! 
Trying to save this review with an appropriate nickname but uselessapp and nothappy are already taken… what does that tell you!?

I am all for having a smart home, and have spent a lot of money making mine just that. This app and WiFi boiler system is so poorly done and has no integrations with any other (and very common) smart applications such as Apple Home, Alexa, Google Home or IFTTT. So taking that in to account, I’m not sure why they even bothered creating this. I really hope that the creators look at this and make this more accessible in the modern world (I’ll not hold my breath though)

In theory the app and the equipment are fantastic and for the first week of ownership it’s worked perfectly. 
Today heating didn’t come on so I had to use the manual override on the boiler to start it, 5 hours later and now it won’t turn off, the app and the controller both says it should be off but the boiler controller is happily keeping the boiler on 
So is it the app that’s at fault or the controller on the boiler?
Think I might return to my original 15 year old timer that’s clunky but works great

The idea of this thermostat is great and app looks good. We are on our second one and neither has worked for more than a couple of days. Problems include not being able to turn the heating off and having to use the switch on the boiler to put the heating on and off. We are currently arranging for our heating engineer to come out again. The app does not connect. This appears to be a software problem although I am no expert. Alpha need to take a serious look at this controller and thermostat.

Very poor app. Doesn’t always turn the boiler off when it should so you end up wasting money. Only had it a month and already had to re-pair with the boiler twice! Surely switching a boiler on and off should be simple!

Had 8 months now and it’s just crap . It’s not working as it should this second one I’ve and no better, it turn it self on and when it wants or just dose not work, constantly deleting app and reinstalling to it to work needs up dating

You are only going to get frustrated and annoyed.  It just doesn’t work.  Forget about it. I got a Hive system instead.  It’s fantastic!  Reliable.  Fun to use even. Gives you much more info eg will show you a graph of temperature in the property and how many mins or hours of burning gas it took to maintain it.  Do yourself a favour and dump Alpha Connect.  Tell your installer how awful it has been and recommend he doesn’t install it again but finds an alternative that works.

So the main functionality is that you set a schedule and are able to rely that the schedule is followed. This app does not validate if the switch on or switch off has actually been received so you could wake up to your boiler been on for the last 5 hours or equally off for 5 hours and your children boiling or freezing! Does not deserve to be named smart! Do yourself a favour and buy a tado thermostat which worked out cheaper and works perfectly!

Honestly wish I’d never gone near this. Just doesn’t work.  My bills have gone through the roof because the app has a mind of its own.  It’s worse at night and sometimes I’ve woken up at 3am and the house is boiling at 23 degrees, but the app is showing that the boiler is switched off.  Since the recent update it’s been worse.  Also I’ve noticed that the historical reviews, which were also not great, have been removed.  Really poor show Alpha, I’ve spent a lot of money with you and this app completely lets an otherwise decent boiler down.

This app is absolutely awful. It has issues syncing and hardly works half the time. I know it’s not a wireless issue as I work in networking. Recently, the app has been completely draining my phone battery and found in my settings, that it has used 68% of my battery life simply running in the background. I use Tik Tok a lot, and this only used 11%.

Had this system installed with the new alpha boiler. While the boiler is fine this app controller is the worse thing I have ever used or tried through out the years. I gave it a chance to see if there would be a good software update to improve this failure of the app but …… no. Uninstalled and re install numerous times, works for a day or two or up to a week then bang! Does what ever it wants and then cannot even connect so start all over agin.

I think it is ok using manual when you are not in the house. However I have now set up a schedule and I am stuck on it and cannot go back to manual or turn the heat in off with app. Each time I try it freezes. Hive is a way better system so I’d install this instead

This App is useless and not even worthy of one star. The heating comes on when it wants. I turn it off and it comes back on again. My heating bill is going through the roof with this app! Will be deleting the app.

Doesn’t work wish I never had it installed! Worked initially really well. Then it became temperamental and required me to re-synch to get it to work. 

I’ve now tried to use it as it’s getting colder and nothing happens despite it being synched several times. Only way for me to operate the boiler is turn it on manually which defeats the purpose of having the app! Much prefer the alpha easystat which I had before with no issue for many years until it failed.

But I can't think how. 

Dreadful unreliable app. 

It might switch your heating on but then again it might not. Likewise when you turn it off you have to keep checking to see if that has actually happened. 

I have never used the timer settings - too scared to go there. 

Now deleted will just use the thermostat as required.

Don’t even bother with this app and just operate your boiler manually. It’s got a mind of its own.  I woke up around 3am this morning to the house boiling hot as the boiler had come on and I hadn’t even programmed it to do so. 
Been trying to get the app to work but to no avail. Tried changing the batteries of the thermostat. Tried re pairing tried resetting  but nothing is working. Those who made this app are nowhere to be seen to offer help & advice. Absolute joke.

Initially paired and installed by the heating engineer, it dropped the pairing about and hour later.

It did take a while for me to re-pair the stat, boiler and app but got there in the end.

The app is working fine. Can sometimes be a short delay between registering the change  between the app and the stat, however this is minimal.

The app is easy to use and offers a wide range of modes and options.

I’m confident that my newly installed Alpha products are all working as should, and the app gives the extra bit of control and efficient heating.

Really easy to install and even easier to use.  Very reliable.  A lot more reliable than others on the market that I have come across and a decent price. I am a heating engineer and have fitted a lot of them with no issues.
