However they appear to remove old puzzles without notice even after paying for the full game. I had access to the daily puzzles from years ago and now 8 seemed to have lost them. Poor form to remove features without notice. ### 3/5 — Works once, then dies *2025-08-01, version 7.3* I’m able to install and run the app. I can play through 50 levels fairly quickly. Then I put my phone down to go do something else. When I come back and launch the app, I get the beige background and some music, but that’s it. The game never shows up. I’ve restarted my phone. The massive number of puzzles available for purchase ensures many, many hours of enjoyment. I only have one beef. I wish there was some way to hide the completed puzzle sets so you don’t have to scroll up/down so much. That change would make it a five. ### 4/5 — Fun game! Except one thing… *2025-02-02* This game is a lot of fun and pretty challenging! No ads which is a plus, but you only get one pack and a daily puzzle. More packs are $.99, which is pretty reasonable for all the work I’m sure goes into making the puzzles. My main gripe with this game is the fact that you can only undo once before having to reset your entire board. It makes it highly frustrating for someone with fat fingers and dyslexia. I’ve had to restart levels over a dozen times because I just keep messing up words I’ve already solved. The puzzles thing is fine, devs have to get paid somehow, but gosh dang the undo thing made me frustrated enough to write a review. Gotta be said again, I really enjoy this game and it’s a great brain teaser! ### 4/5 — Love to play *2025-01-11, version 7.1* Have been playing for years and really enjoy. Recently had a problem and found the ability to get to app support didn’t work. Thanks ### 3/5 — It’s good but perhaps ‘Too American’ for UK users *2024-08-08* It’s good and challenging and I was happy to pay for the full version, I like the idea and generally how it works but only ONE ‘undo’ before you have to start the whole level again means that making a move you think is right isn’t an option unless you’re prepared to start again. And, as a UK user I found that there is a large emphasis on US sports (including terminology and player names), US places (and not just major cities) and US politics. With only one undo per level before you have to start again it means that guessing or having a go at a subject you’re not familiar with (surgical procedures was another one) isn’t really an option, you either have to stop that series or use hints to do all of that level in the hope that the next is something you stand a chance of answering, very tedious. I’d like a “skip this level option” ### 3/5 — Could be better *2024-05-17* It’s a good game but some of the words I don’t know what they mean. It cannot synchronize through different device if you log in different iCloud accounts and SUBSCRIPTIONS account. For instance, my iCloud account is in Mainland China, but my subscription is in US. Once I click sync, it just freezes and never comes back. I have to delete and re-download it so that it can open again. 2. I cannot find it in the Mainland China AppStore, so I cannot plan on my iPad and other devices. I don’t understand. Other than these, a great game.👏👏 ### 2/5 — Constant crashing directly after purchasing upgraded package *2024-01-10, version 6.9.1* I’ve really liked this game for a couple of years, and I didn’t mind downloading the newer version with ads. I DO mind downloading the version with ads, paying $24 to support this game with no ads and unlimited access, and it’s crashing in all game areas (daily puzzles, etc). Fix asap or refund. Not cool. ### 3/5 — Love the game Hate the bugs *2023-12-31, version 6.9* Enjoy the game enough that I’ve tried many times to purchase the unlimited pack—it’s advertised on my iPad but nothing happens when I click the option. The app lets me buy individual packs for .99, but not the full plan. So I thought I’d download it onto my phone to see if it’d work there. It wouldn’t sync, so I deleted it and reloaded it, but now it’s really problematic and won’t even load enough to open. ### 2/5 — Can’t upgrade *2023-12-11, version 6.8.3* I’ve been using this app for a couple of days and there are so many ads, it’s driving me nuts. I want to purchase the ad free version, but the app won’t work and I am not able to make a purchase. Very frustrating. You would think a company would want to give customers an opportunity to spend money, but I guess not. It’s so annoying to watch all the ads, I will probably stop using this game. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — I don’t recommend this game… *2026-01-05* I’ve been playing this game for at least 7 years now, and the app and developer response to problems has gotten progressively worse. In 2019 I paid $32 to get lifetime access to all added/updated packs. Starting in 2023, always at the beginning of the month, the game wouldn’t open or if it did the puzzles would already be completed. In this last year for the last 6months the game crashes every time I go to open it. This last month they been sending updates through Testflight and the game still crashes. What good did it do to pay $32 for lifetime access when I can’t even open the game? And at this stage I can’t get my money back from Apple. The concept is a good one, but it appears that the coders at Borderleap can’t figure out how to fix this game. **Developer response:** Hi there, thank you for the feedback and glad that you are enjoying the game! I have uninstalled and reinstalled, and it is still not working. I contacted the developer and they still can’t fix it. They’re not giving me my money back. They’re blaming the iOS update and want me to install some app that I’m sure it’s not safe to fix the problem. this is one of multiple problems that the app had problems. ### 5/5 — Exceptional service *2025-12-05, version 7.4* I like the challenge of this game and paid for the expansion packs. It’s a great value. These days, I mostly just play the daily challenge puzzle. The December daily puzzles weren’t loading, so I emailed the company to let them know. An actual real person emailed me THE SAME DAY and a new release to fix that bug was released. I dare you to find another game developer who is that responsive!! 10/10 ### 5/5 — App freezing again *2025-12-03, version 7.3.1* I love this game! Play it every day. Unfortunately the last few days I haven’t been able to get it to open. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling but nothing seems to work. ### 5/5 — Long Time Alpha Omega Fan *2025-04-10, version 7.3* I got Alpha Omega with my first iPhone, and enjoyed playing it while commuting to work. Two iPhones later I keep coming back to play it when I want to relax, and enjoy solving a couple of puzzles! ### 5/5 — My favorite word game *2024-02-07* And I say that seriously as it’s the only one I committed to fully purchasing. This one I think was $30 to fully unlock and in my opinion, definitely worth it. No ads, unlimited hints, all levels unlocked (old and new), daily puzzles available forever, and most importantly, no subscription! As for the game itself, well I bought it for a reason! It’s a quiet, soothing word game, a mix of unscramble and crossword kind of. But no timer, no rush, the only real downside is you only get one “undo”. Next error means a restart. I say downside, it makes it a challenge. Usually. I have been playing for years now, and it is just very relaxing and fun. It’s great how the developers have been working on the game the whole time. The music is very relaxing, and the themes are interesting. I hope the developers read this; I have a request for a feature where you can hide completed levels. At this point, I have a whole lot of completed levels to scroll past to get the new levels or ones I just haven’t completed yet, and I think the interface would be improved with an option to hide completed levels. That said, I highly recommend this game.
