### 3/5 — As a teacher, not impressed with the tracing

*2015-11-29, version 1.70*

The app is fine for the price. But I am very disappointed with the tracing part of this app.
The capital letters is ok, but for lower case, there should be an option to turn off the directional aid or the aid should allow the child to eventually do the tracing in one movement without lifting their finger. It is not assisting the child to make a smooth drawing of most of the letters, which the child will eventually need to be able to do.
I also found that the spelling moves to larger words far too quickly.
Overall not a good app to allow a child to independently practise their skills.

### 4/5 — X is missing

*2015-02-23, version 1.70*

great app, but why is the x missing from tracing ABCs?

### 3/5 — Very American

*2014-04-16, version 1.70*

My little boy likes this app but it worth knowing that letters are not spoken phonetically and the voice is very American. Even so, the presentation appeals to little people and you can adjust the settings easily.

### 5/5 — Amazing for out of school and in school learning!

*2014-03-30, version 1.70*

Wow! I have to say you’ve done a mighty fine job yet again on this one! Another one of your app my daughters enjoyed, a lot!
I would first like to say that you did a great job at incorporating not just one activity into this app but three! Which they cover Spelling, Tracing and Reading so that a child learning or even new to the alphabet to help them along a lot further, I know my child personally loves and prefers and to use either the iPad or iPod which she is usually constantly on, but turning the alphabet into a game was a really smart way to really get a child to interact and learn the alphabet!
With that said this is an app that I would really recommend but not limited to home schooling parents because this app really helps the learning curvature due to not seeming like a chore rather a game which keeps them a lot more interested in learning itself, I say not limited too because I don’t home school my child but it really helps her along with learning not only at school but after school!
I can see though schools around my area are starting to take interest into digital learning and getting more children to use certain apps as well as using books, which I would highly recommend, not completely removing pen and paper but incorporating app usage as well as it.
So I just wanted to post a review on my thoughts of the app and to say a big thank you to the developer for making it! Thank you!

### 5/5 — Great app

*2014-03-30, version 1.70*

Brilliant app for kids

### 5/5 — Teaches kids to read and spell

*2014-03-29, version 1.70*

I got this app for my little cousin and she absolutely loved to play with it. It's an educational app and it's split into writing, reading and tracing games. It is very entertaining with nice graphics and sounds which is what I think makes this app so effective. If you have a kid who needs to learn reading and spelling you will definitely love this app.

### 5/5 — Fantastic!

*2014-03-29, version 1.70*

Great game!!

It is great app for kids who are just learning their letters up through kids who are actually making those letters into words!

You have three modes—Tracing, Spelling, and Reading—and can set the app to only uppercase letters, only lowercase letters, or a mix of the two. Tracing is excellent for toddlers—each oversized letter is showcased with an animal whose name starts with that letter (Ant, Bee), and bright circles guide the child’s finger along the lines. When the child is successful at tracing the letter, Abby the monkey zooms out and gives positive encouragement.

Spelling and Reading are more geared toward kindergarteners. With Spelling, your child sees a jumble of letters paired with an animal and is told to spell the word. With Reading, your child matches the animal to a full word—and this should be especially enjoyable because of the range of bright, exciting animals, from cows to turkeys to anteaters.

Recommended to parents who are looking for a wholesome, educational app for their child that makes learning letters and reading exciting and interactive.

### 5/5 — Literacy through recognition!

*2014-03-29, version 1.70*

Kindergarten Reading, Tracing, and Spelling provides kindergarten children with all these skills through the power of recognition. These 3 engaging games provide kindergarten children with learning opportunities from tracing letters, reading and matching names and letters, as well as arranging letters in the correct order to spell the correct word! The images are carefully illustrated and the sounds differ greatly and add variety to the game. Additionally, the app can be vastly customized from the number of letters per word to appear as well as whether the letters should appear lowercase, uppercase, or capitalized! The endless variety keeps kindergarten children guessing and coming for more time after time!

### 5/5 — GREAT APP FOR KIDS!

*2014-03-29, version 1.70*

Highly recommended to all parents who have kids that have just started school! Great app, works very well with a lot of fun and effective literacy activities. Kids would love this, fun and educational at the same time!

### 5/5 — Fun, useful learning took for your kids!

*2014-03-29, version 1.70*

The graphics in this game are really fun! There are numerous settings that enable parents to get the app to the correct difficulty level for their children. This is a fun, useful learning tool for your kids.

### 5/5 — Fun for my 5 year old.

*2014-03-29, version 1.70*

My 5 year old is just getting into reading, this app is a great addition to the process.

### 5/5 — Awesome App

*2014-03-29, version 1.70*

I love that you can pick a animal avatar

### 5/5 — Great

*2014-03-28, version 1.70*

Many children's apps online just allow for playing games. I love the act that 22Learn has taken the initiative to develop these learning games. Great for kids just learning to spell. My kids love Abby Monkey!

### 5/5 — Another amazing game for Kindergarten👍👯

*2014-03-28, version 1.70*

What a great way to combine having fun and learning. very friendly UI for kids, my daughter will do any chore, just to let her keep playing the game after, that's how addictive and fun the game is. As a parents I will recommend it to any parent with Kindergarten kid. it offers a lot of fun games and lesions that you can't resist .👍❤️

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Constantly crashes on iPhone

*2019-09-03, version 2.0.1*

The tracing game was not functioning and became unresponsive so many times. Had to restart iPhone 10 so many times when trying to use this app, regrettably I purchased it. I want my money back

### 1/5 — Bad tracing instruction

*2016-08-24, version 1.70*

I wish I had not wasted my money on this app before realizing the bad habits the tracing portion was. This app teaches children to use three different strokes to create the lowercase M, which should only be one fluid stroke.
I'm surprised how many good reviews are on this, clearly it's not designed by an educator.

### 1/5 — Teaches bad habits

*2015-11-23, version 1.70*

It makes them pick up their finger when tracing the letters so they end up learning to write the letters incorrectly.

### 1/5 — Bad pronunciation

*2014-11-22, version 1.70*

Hasn't anyone noticed that when a kiddo pressed the "s" is says "a@s" instead?!? Not ok!

### 1/5 — Who rates these apps?

*2014-10-05, version 1.70*

I got this based on the high reviews. Very disappointed. This is not a reading app. Children learn to read through pronunciation of sounds, not reading letters, which is what this app teaches-reading letters. Additionally, the spelling portion previews the letters so the child simply matches letter to letter, requiring no thought. The montessori app is much better. It teaches phonetic reading, makes the child actually spell the word without showing the letters, etc. I don't think this app is worth it.

### 1/5 — Shameful opening screen

*2012-01-02, version 1.4*

This app is ruined by its shameful plastering of 12 advertisements on the opening screen. It warrants a poor rating until the developers eliminate this exploitive solicitation of impressionable preschoolers.

### 1/5 — Terrible opening screen

*2011-10-21, version 1.2*

My daughter enjoys the game but like was already mentioned in a previous review the opening screen is covered by seven 'ads' for the developer's other apps in addition to the 'start' button. I can accept this in a free app but in a paid version it makes no sense. The developers have obviously never tried to let a toddler use the game in testing. I could never purchase another app from this dev nor can I recommend buying this one. I would probably rate it 3 stars without this screen and worth the $2 but I'd spend my money elsewhere first.

### 1/5 — Lame!

*2011-02-25, version 1.2*

The free version is exactly the same as the 1.99 pay version so don't be tricked like I did and buy the full version....so lame! I want my money back!

### 2/5 — Great app... BUT CONSTANT LONG ADVERTS!

*2014-09-02, version 1.70*

I really love the app (my 3 year old too!) but when I've paid for the full version of an app, I don't expect to see long video adverts every 2 minutes that you can't just skip. Some, in my opinion, are inappropriate for the game and the age it's aimed it!

### 2/5 — ruined

*2012-01-02, version 1.4*

This app is ruined by its shameful plastering of 12 advertisements on the opening screen. It warrants a poor rating until the developers eliminate this exploitive solicitation of impressionable preschoolers.

### 5/5 — My 3 year old loves it

*2017-09-23, version 2.0.1*

My 3 year old loves this app. He chooses to play it over other non-educational games which makes me happy! I like the letter matching, repetition & encouragement the games provide.

### 5/5 — Great!

*2017-09-23, version 2.0.1*

Excellent concept. Real good fluidity between games. Keeps children interested. Wish the letters and the dotted line in the tracing game weren't the same color. But overall great app.

### 5/5 — Cutest App Ever!!

*2014-04-01, version 1.70*

This is such a cute App! My kids absolutely love it and are constantly stealing my phone to use it! Such a simple and positive way to get them to learn. They really love how it talks to them an gives them encouragement. A must have for the kids!

### 5/5 — Great app for any kindergartener

*2014-03-31, version 1.70*

The app is laid out beautifully. The ui is very friendly for little children. My son loves the app and will do practically anything to spend more time on it. I like this because while he is playing he is learning at the same time. As a parent I would recommend this app to any parent with kindergarteners.

### 5/5 — Really helpful app for kids!

*2014-03-31, version 1.70*

Highly recommended! This app is very engaging, and really simple to learn. In a day when there's a number of apps you don't your kids to be using, I recommend this app, and would feel comfortable letting my kids use this app for a long time!

### 5/5 — High quality educational app for little ones

*2014-03-31, version 1.70*

A great app for kindergarten age children to learn letters, spelling, and reading. My daughter loves playing each of the 3 games and is learning something new each time she plays. Kudos to the developers of this game as it is very well designed.
