### 4/5 — Alphabet zoo

*2015-06-01, version 1.5*

I like this App for my preschool students but is there a way to get all options without continually having to make in app purchases . Would like to use it in the classroom. Also wondering if there is a way to create a class list to see all students' performance.

### 3/5 — For 3 year olds

*2013-10-17, version 1.5*

M 5 year old said this is too baby for her

### 2/5 — Not kid friendly

*2012-12-26, version 1.4*

There's a big button upper right on the screen that sends you to an advertising dialog box with a single touch. It takes my grandson between three and thirteen seconds to touch this each time and I have to take it back to restore the game. Really dumb.

### 3/5 — Needs printer option

*2012-02-17, version 1.4*

I haven't tried this yet on a student, but I experimented with it. I am a reading specialist and it would be useful to print or email the results of the assessments.

### 4/5 — Too many bugs

*2012-01-21, version 1.3*

My 3 yr old autistic son LOVES this app, but is often left in tears because the sound intermittently turns off. I have to turn the whole ipad off and on to reset it while he freaks out. We bought the new trucks theme app and my son loved it for the 2 minutes that it worked. Every time he tries to use it the thing asks him to purchase it - which we have already done. We agree to purchase again and it says we have already purchased it and allows us to download again. It works for 3 minutes and the problems start all over again. When it did work the vehicles weren't centered on the screen so they would drive up and park so you could only see half of the vehicle. I don't know how to uninstall it or I would so my kid would stop choosing to try to use it. I would happily give it 5 stars if it weren't for the bugs. This is the first app my kid loved and it gave us a window into how well his brain was functioning in spite of his communication delays. That is why I gave it 4 stars in spite of the bugs.

### 2/5 — My son loves it, but.....

*2012-01-01, version 1.3*

Since the last update, can't even load anymore. I tried to delete and reinstall, but still no luck and I am stuck with one unhappy 4 year old :-/

### 3/5 — Trucks have incorrect letter sounds

*2011-12-19, version 1.3*

I love the original alphabet zoo. My daughter plays and is learning her sounds. The new truck theme had incorrect letter sounds. That version of the app adds the "a" sound after each sound. Ex: instead of hearing "f", it says "fa". Alphabet zoo itself is correct. I would really like this fixed in an update.

### 3/5 — !!

*2011-11-11, version 1.1*

I love the simplicity of this app, but WHAT'S WITH THE LETTER SOUNDS? Some of the sounds made in this app sound NOTHING like the letters (G sounds like a suppressed sneeze, J sounds like "ch," P sounds like "pfph," T has mic feedback). I bought several apps from this company on the strength of my deep and abiding love for Factor Samurai. :>) I should have exercised a little caution when purchasing the others.

### 2/5 — TVI gypsy

*2011-09-09, version 1.1*

I work with students who have low vision and the size of the letters is great. The fact that it says the name and the sound of the letters is also great. the animals and sounds are frankly not great, but every student I've introduced this app to, loves it!
**However, since the upgrade, it no longer works consistently--which is veery frustrating to children. Unless it is fixed, I can non longer use it.

### 3/5 — Mildly educational

*2011-07-23, version 1.1*

The sounds are ridiculous. Looks like ittook 3 hours to make.

### 5/5 — Fun

*2011-03-02, version 1.0*

Fun way. Tapping the animals always lead to a fun surprising sound.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Needs to be updated

*2017-11-26, version 1.5*

This app needs to be updated in order to be used. It would be great!

### 1/5 — Used to love it;

*2017-10-30, version 1.5*

But it’s been months now and it still hasn’t been updated for iOS. It was my toddlers favorite, and now it’s just taking up space while we wait for the update.

### 1/5 — Horrible animal sounds

*2013-03-26, version 1.4*

This app is disgraceful to animals and terrible for children, stay away!

### 1/5 — Amateurish and inadequate half-baked effort

*2012-09-26, version 1.4*

There are so many things wrong with this Ap. First, the user interface is so poor that it is difficult for even an adult to work with it. The Ap is very sensitive to scrolling, making it nearly impossible to tap a letter. It appears that there was no actual testing of the ap in the real world. When you tap the letter the bottom scrolls. Why not limit scrolling to only the bottom where the letters are?

My child keeps tapping the big red star, which interrupts the game for an up-sell in-ap purchase option. Greedy and annoying. The ap remains locked until you hit cancel... Which I would imagine is difficult for a child just learning the alphabet.

The sounds are awful. Just awful. The cat sounds like someone stepped on its tail. Why would I want my child to associate this sound with a cat?

I know nothing about designing aps, but even I could do better than this. In fact, my child could probably do better. The developer is going for a cheap money grab with little to no effort behind it.

### 1/5 — No thanks

*2012-05-29, version 1.4*

Installed free version, wow you get the letter and someone saying the letter, no animals nothing unless upgrade, delete

### 1/5 — Alphabet Zoo

*2012-05-14, version 1.4*

What a waste of time, deleted

### 1/5 — Deleted

*2012-03-25, version 1.4*

This application is doing a disservice to children by teaching VERY INCORRECT animal sounds. I removed it from my tablet.

### 1/5 — Pay for it again?

*2012-01-30, version 1.3*

My toddler enjoyed the alphabet zoo, but we were excited to find the in-app purchase for the truck app. We bought it and played it once. The next day we went to play it again and it was gone-- we were back to only having the three demo letters, but they did offer to sell it to me again. How unscrupulous is that?

### 1/5 — Not working since update!!

*2011-12-18, version 1.3*

My daughter loves this app...but ever since the latest update, the app makes no sound. Thanks for leaving me with a tantrum having toddler!!! If this thing were working, it would get 4 stars.

### 1/5 — Warning!

*2011-02-06, version 1.0*

Do not press the letter three times because you'll scare a child with the creepy sounds and pictures!!!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Epic

*2022-02-06, version 1.6.1*

This game is epic. It has some radical sound effects. The art is totally tubular. But my favorite part is the sound effects. They are really funny. If this rating thing had ten stars that’s what I’d give it.

### 5/5 — Yassss that porcupine.

*2021-12-14, version 1.6.1*

My son and I have laughed at this app for years (he’s 13 now). Not necessarily that educational but man we’ve laughed at the sounds, of course the porcupine is the best. I’ve played it for so so many of my friends. Still listening in 2021.

### 5/5 — The porcupine!

*2018-06-27, version 1.5*

I came back to download it just to hear that porcupine again and I can’t get because of the update 😭 this was seriously the best! I have it on my old iPad but the sound isn’t working for some reason on just this app. Oh what I would do to just hear the porcupine again.

### 5/5 — Great

*2012-01-12, version 1.3*

My 2 year old toddler loves it. The sounds are silly for adults but young kids love it.

### 5/5 — The porcupine

*2011-12-14, version 1.3*

I love this app. My favorite letter is P. The porcupine is the best so check it out. It is sure to make your day. On a side note My students will love it since we are working on sound/letter recognition.

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2011-11-17, version 1.1*

Great for my 5 year old who has a speech issue and is learning the alphabet as well.

### 5/5 — Best animal sounds ever

*2011-11-04, version 1.1*

If you have a sense of humor you'll love the thought they put into this. My 1.5 year old likes the ease of use, and I laugh every time I hear the sounds!

### 5/5 — Awesome App

*2011-10-26, version 1.1*

My son joey b is a slow learner and this app helps a lot

### 5/5 — One of my favorites!

*2011-04-06, version 1.0*

What a great app!! My older children who already know their letters (4 & 5 years old) are just as entertained as the 2 year old. I can't believe how quickly my 2 year old has picked up on all the letters and their sounds. He now walks around all day saying, "Do you know what sound the H makes? It makes the hhhhhh sound." The combination of the art and silly sounds make this extremely entertaining-not to mention the great educational benefits! What a fun learning tool!.

### 5/5 — Life-saving app

*2011-03-15, version 1.0*

I randomly downloaded this app not realizing just how awesome it would tuen out to be. My baby is one, and I'm so glad I had this on my phone during a long flight and longer stopover. Also kept her calm when we caught a cold after all that traveling and she couldn't sleep. Thanks!!!
