## What is Alta Ipsum?

Loosely translated from Latin, Alta Ipsum means “summit yourself” or “do the best you can.” A web-based organization, planning, and grade-tracking tool, Alta Ipsum is designed to help students understand their strengths and weaknesses, study more effectively, and achieve their goals. 

Alta Ipsum is a set of tools to help students improve their executive function skills and become more independent learners. Using Alta Ipsum, students learn to set goals, plan and organize their work, and keep track of their progress. This means less nagging and reminding by parents and more improved school performance for students. It also means developing positive habits that will last a lifetime.

Alta Ipsum was conceived and created by Benjamin Anagnos, a New York City educator with over 20 years of experience. Following two years of extensive testing by students in 7th to 11th grade, Alta Ipsum is designed to help students organize their schoolwork, plan in advance, and track their progress towards academic goals they set for themselves.

On computers, tablets, and smartphones, Alta Ipsum delivers a set of powerful tools that helps students get the most out of their education while building critical organizational skills they will use for the rest of their lives.

Powerful and User-friendly

Both the website and the companion iOS app are simple and clean but contain sophisticated features that allow you to take control of your work. First you set goals for each of your classes. Then you simply use it the same way you use your planner – but Alta Ipsum gives you so such more.

Enter an assignment and Alta Ipsum creates a study plan of dates and times that you can customize at your convenience. Alta Ipsum helps you think about how and when to complete each task, so you can avoid doing things at the last minute, get better grades, and achieve your goals. You can also upload a file or take pictures with your phone. This virtual binder is now accessible anywhere – no more fear of losing papers!

For graded assignments, Alta Ipsum will recommend a score calculated using your course goal and current average. You can also set your own goals for individual assignments. Study plans and recommended scores can be accepted as defaults, so using Alta Ipsum takes less time than writing assignments in your planner.

The Dashboard and Planner display your assignments color-coded by subject with a timer feature to keep you focused and on track. Reminders and upcoming graded assignments can be seen at a glance. Alta Ipsum will also notify you to record grades, note any mistakes or teacher comments, and take pictures for future reference.

The Tracker shows your current average in each class based on the grades you have entered and compares it to your goal. There are also graphs that show you how you are doing at any point during the year. The graphs help you quickly identify areas of weakness so you can put in extra study time before an exam or go see a teacher for explanation.

And to encourage students to use Alta Ipsum every day, they earn points every time they develop the habits that will help them do their best: add assignments, check off completed study plans, enter grades, add notes after reflecting on their assessments, and take pictures so they don’t lose their papers. When they earn 500 points, they level up and get an email reminder to treat themselves for a job well done!

Great concept but poorly executed at the moment. I put in a time for a reminder/study session and the app makes up a random time instead and kicks me out when I try to edit it. Also, the app offers no way to get in contact with the developer, so sorry for the bad review here 😕

I’ve been using Alta Ipsum since I was in middle school and now as I head into my senior year of college I can confidently say that Alta Ipsum is the only online planner I’ll use. I have a lot to keep track of and while I use a written planner for non-academic tasks, AI has kept me on track academic-wise. 

The study scheduling has been immensely helpful in making sure I pace myself on the reading I have and that I don’t forget to complete an assignment. The grade goal setting is also amazing because it holds me accountable to stick to the goal I set and be realistic about the grades I want to get on assignments. 

Overall, I love Alta Ipsum and just how easy it is to use and how personalized I can make it. Keep up the amazing work!!

Hey this seems to be a good idea however they want to charge $27 a month? Considering what they are pushing could be of use with kids with learning disabilities it is shameful that they would be so pricey

At $19.99/month - less than a dollar a school day - “highway robbery” seems a bit harsh, but that’s okay. I know it’s hard to know what is really worth it these days. 

Alta Ipsum is a valuable tool that helps students develop skills they will use to succeed in school and for the rest of their lives. Anyone can try it free for 30 days, and if you subscribe through the website, you can use a coupon code for 50% off your first 12 months. There are no contracts or commitments, and you can cancel at any time. So if you want to try it for two months, more than enough time to see if it works for you, it will cost you all of $10. Not bad for a gamified productivity tool for students that helps them reduce stress and achieve their goals.

I couldn’t think of a better app to keep me organized and on track with my work. This app has so many great features that create the perfect schedule for school and personal life. I struggled to keep everything in track throughout high school, but with Alta Ipsum I was able to learn better tome management and maximize my  time after school. This app fit my busy schedule into ideal time slots that allowed me to complete everything in a way I hadn’t been able to do before. Overall extremely happy with Alta Ipsum and would recommend it to everyone!

I normally don’t write app reviews but this app is just so exceptional. I’m in high school and I use this app everyday to stay organized. I’ve tried other planner/organizer apps but none are this good. This app is so easy to use and the grade tracker feature is awesome. Leveling up feels so rewarding too! Alta Ipsum keeps me on track and helps me stay on top of my work. 

And with every update the app just keeps on getting better and better. This app is a must-have if you want to stay organized with all your courses.

This sounded like a fantastic app. The video is excellent. I’m a teacher and tutor; many of my students need help strengthening their executive functioning skills. So I downloaded it. There isn’t an option to sign up, so I entered my email and chose “forgot my password” in hopes that would work. Nope. So I entered my email and a password. Nope. Double checked that I didn’t miss anything. Nope. Ugh- so frustrating!

This app puts all the other school organizers to shame.

It's not like homework apps -- which are just reminder apps you have to pay for, with a bunch of features that already come w your phone. And it's not all busy with "cool" graphics that bog it down.

Alta Ipsum actually helps you *master* your courses by showing you exactly what your strengths and weaknesses are relative to what your teacher wants -- so you can study super efficiently and get the best possible return on (your study time) investment.

Kicking a*s at school isn't about studying so hard u break out in hives. It's about studying SMART and not having to worry if you're prepared for a test -- because you already know what needs work, where you can skate, and what your prof wants (based on everything that has come before) -- so you know you have it on lock.
