Everything from what to expect in the next 24 hours to where the barometer stood this date 4 years ago? And be guaranteed the programmer doesn’t track you - and doesn’t let other users know who and where you are, shifting your location on charts just enough so no one can dox you? And that and more is free - including alerts about severe weather coming to the nearest NOAA station? That’s free - double the information will cost you $7.95 a year. Free will tell you what to expect and when it’s due. A few bucks a year to the top retired programmer will give you more weather information than you’ll need, no matter what your interest, farmer, fisherman, pilot, migraine sufferer or someone with a hurting back. Like the Times motto when the daily paper weighed 6 pounds, “you don’t have to read it all, but it’s nice to know it’s all there” and then some. All without advertising or list sales. (I’ve been thru them all) Love how cool the widget looks (matches well with my other weather widgets) plus the watch complication is rare, if not the only available. It also taps into local sources to provide wind readings and a local weather forecast. The graph is my favorite feature. Well worth having! **Developer response:** Thank you! A mini weather station is exactly what I was aiming to design. Don’t forget the real-time wind estimate feature that lets you measure wind and gust speeds using only your device’s sensors whether you’re indoors or out. ### 3/5 — What happened *2025-05-25* Things were going real good with this app until something happened on the 21st. My friend and I have this app and it reset (?) itself yesterday. I have no pressure readings for the past week, even though I did until yesterday. What happened? After you install it, the app automatically starts tracking barometric pressure and altitude even when the app is in the background or your phone is locked. It’s true that my app has an amazing set of capabilities and was designed for people who wanted to know as much as possible about atmospheric conditions and their environment - even without internet access. In addition to sophisticated barometric pressure and altitude tracking, the app can also automatically calculate wind speed using only your device’s sensors, display real-time pressure data, display historical data, has highly configurable notifications, and can display weather information from the global network of ICAO weather stations. All this and more without annoying ads. So yes, my app is extremely capable, but that’s not a reason for a one-star rating. Not only does it cost you nothing to use the latest version of the app, it has many more features, capabilities, refinements, and enhancement - even without the subscription - than the original single-purchase version. I too would be upset if the widgets showed “inactive” all the time!! I wrote this app because I wanted a REAL barometer that continuously tracked barometric pressure and trends in the background and kept Watch and iPhone widgets constantly updated automatically. To my knowledge, Alti-Barometer Pro is still the only barometer app that does this (and much more). You are seeing the “inactive” message because the app has not been able to perform an update for several hours. This can happen for two reasons: the app is not able to obtain a high-quality altitude measurement which is needed to calculate barometric pressure, or because background updates have been disabled in iOS and/or WatchOS Settings. If you spend much time in an area with poor GPS reception using the app’s default “Power saver barometer“ mode, you will see the “inactive” message until the app is finally able to obtain an altitude measurement. If this is the case, I recommend that you switch the operation mode in Options to “Auto - high precision”. Using a proprietary algorithm, this mode can run for days without needing to obtain a fresh reference altitude measurement. The high-precision mode consumes more battery because it does more work, but it is still very efficient and can be used 24x7 on your iPhone which will automatically keep your Watch widget synced. Rock fishing means walking 30 minutes to an hour from the parking area along a mountain trail to reach the fishing spot, then standing on rocky shores to fish. This app displays atmospheric pressure changes and trends with high accuracy and clarity. On several occasions, it warned me of an approaching storm caused by a strong cold front with a low-pressure system, using clear red arrows. Immediately after that, I checked weather charts in another app to confirm the situation and changed my fishing or mountaineering plans accordingly. I always display Alti-Barometer Pro as a complication on my Apple Watch Ultra 2. After waking up and a few times throughout the day, I tap the icon to check pressure changes over the past 48 hours, this is fun! Even without tapping, I can see the pressure value at a glance, and the two arrows shown on the icon intuitively indicate pressure trends. This routine alone adds enjoyment to my daily life. On top of that, it is extremely useful for hobbies such as hiking, fishing, and traveling—there is no reason not to recommend it. I paid a few hundred yen to become a premium user, and it is absolutely worth it. The developer’s user support is very kind, and they have answered many of my questions and provided advice (in English). Frequent thoughtful updates that address user needs are also a big plus.
